The Kübler-Ross Grief Cycle goes Shock, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Testing, Acceptance. Koiella is hip deep in the Bargaining stage. She believes she can find a release from her condition by mostly living to the standards of her past-life. This includes the destruction of the Scourge and of rogue Death Knights, her greatest fear of becoming. Koiella is understandably unstable until she comes to grip with her condition. She is already used to the other races through the Argent Dawn, preferring to stay neutral at all costs. "The Scourge is everyone's enemy, and must be destroyed at all costs" could be her life statement. The more people that are on her side, the better she feels about herself. She constantly looks for opportunities to join small groups as well as large organizations for the same reason. She adheres to the letter of the law to avoid becoming more severed from society that she already is.

History

Koiella was born into an average family of High Elves from Silvermoon. Her mother Koelie was an illusion Mage. Her father, Rexius was a foot-soldier in the military. Koiella adapted the teachings of both parents into an agile spellblade. She would enchant her weapons with arcane energy to bolster her fighting prowess. As an adult she lived with both parents and earned a decent wage enchanting items. Even at the age of 151, she was very close to her parents. When Rexius went to fight alongside the Humans in the First War, Koelie and Koiella stayed at home in Silvermoon. They never saw him again.

Koiella traveled regularly the nearby Farstrider Retreat delivering custom enchanted weapons. On some lazy days she would travel to the nearby Azurebreeze Coast and lounge on the beach. It was one of these days that Arthas led the Scourge and destroyed over ninety percent of the high elven population. Her mother, all her friends, her teachers and mentors, all lost to the Scourge. Koiella became a Blood Elf that day, determined to seek revenge on the Scourge. She did not join the other elves in leaving for Draenor, her purpose was here on Azeroth. She dedicated her life to destroying the Scourge.

She came across a band of Argent Dawn freedom fighters and it didn't take long for her to embrace their philosophy. Koiella spent the next few years traveling with them striking out at the Scourge wherever they could. They mainly used hit-and-run tactics which suited her well. One day though, her troupe was overwhelmed when two other Scourge bands stumbled upon them finishing off a smaller group. They were quickly overwhelmed and Koiella stared into the powerful visage of a Death Knight. He easily overpowered the elf and cleaved into her ribcage. As the Death Knight dragged her, she stared up into the sky. She felt at peace knowing she has done all she could to get revenge, and would be able to rest in peace with her family. She bleed out before she could realize where he was taking her.

Inside of Acherous she was infused with the same dark magic as her murderer. Koiella was reanimated into a typical Death Knight of the Scourge. She had little training, rusted armor of the fallen and a dull pair of swords. She learned to augment them with runes like all Death Knights. Koiella adapted to the heavy plate and jagged swords of the Scourge. She had no will of her own and became the very thing she hated.

Two weeks later she was on the battle-field of the Plaguelands reaping any Scarlet Crusaders who stood in her way. She dragged many back to the Scourge's necromancers to become Death Knights as well. Koiella was busy dragging another hapless corpse to Acherous when the events of Light's Hope Chapel unfolded. With the Lich King weakened, Koiella was able to wrest free of his control. She stopped dragging that corpse and looked down at it. Her memories began to flood back until they led her to that same position as her victim. She stood shocked for a moment, realizing everything she has become. She withdrew inside Acherous and sunk into denial. She could vividly remember cooking dinner for her mother, enchanting weapons at work, the occasional boyfriend, she dwelt on all of it. All taken by the Sourge, and then twisted into a shattered reflection of her own pride.

She became furious, and pounded out two identical blades within the halls of the Ebon Hold. As Koiella poured her strength into these blades she thought of the afterlife that was taken from her. She dwelt on what her parents' spirits must be going through without her there. She enruned the blades and carved into one "Rexius" and the other "Koelie"; indeed this would be a family affair. Koiella also modified her armor, going from heavy plate-mail to a lighter, elven designed mix of leather and plate. She would watch from the rails of Acherous and think about the destruction of her home, her family, her Argent troupe, everything.

One day she received news about a paramilitary group called the Blood Knights. They were a group of holy warriors, she believed. She wondered if they could provide what she has been looking for. It didn't take her long to bargain with herself. "If I do this then I will redeem my nation, my family, my honor, and my eternal rest." She knows she will never become a proper Blood Knight, but continues to volunteer anyway. "As long as I'm dedicated to my same cause in life, then I am no different from my true life." This is where Koiella is today, constantly convincing herself she is not the monster she truly is.
