Khandora is a light-hearted individual with a (supposedly) warm heart. She is friendly with nearly everyone at first but is quick to be offended, although she herself is overly blunt at times. Nonetheless, she enjoys sharing a drink with strangers (only if they are paying, of course) and does not mind teaching others "teh gid ol' odes end ber-sohngs". However, Khandora is an exceptionally hardworker despite being slow to learn. She takes pride in her work even though what she does at the moment is very simplistic.

History

Khandora Rockbeard (née Copperpot), was born into an ordinary clan 200 years ago. Her childhood years were spent at home with her family. Having not been granted any apprenticeships, her "education" was limited to cooking and cleaning - both of which the young Khandora had failed to grasp.

As Khandora approached adulthood, she decided it was best to help with the upkeep of the household and began working for a blacksmith, cleaning after him and his apprentice. And it was there, between the romantic fumes of the smog-regurgitating forge, that she met the love of her life, Oajl Rockbeard. Like the clink of a hammer on an anvil, sparks flew between them instantly. Day after day, they saw each other at the smith, both of them unable to muster up the courage to speak to one another until finally, Oajl asked (her father) for her hand in marriage! It was only until after they were married for a month that they ever spoke.

It was like a true dwarven romance (without the flowers, chocolate and moonlit dinners). Together, they planned their entire lives together down to the day that they would die. The two prospered and so did their love for each by the day. Oajl finished his apprenticeship and joined the Explorer's League. Soon, they were thinking of baby names; however, the Titans had written a different fate for the happy couple. Oajl was sent off to faraway lands, mission after mission and one unhappy day, Khandora received the unfortunate news of her husband's alleged death.

It was as if the sky had come tumbling down on Khandora. She was absolutely devastated. She was all alone with no-one for company but her self-doubting thoughts. Not a year had passed since she heard of Oajl's passing and she was already estranged from society, having moved into the mountain caves of Dun Morogh, brooding there with her companion, Betsy.

For many years she lived like so, living off the meat of both trogg and ram until one day, an almost prophetic prophecy (which was just the trogg meat getting to her) told her to leave her cave and join the Explorer's League. And so, with nothing to hold on to but her love for her husband and her yearning to discover the true nature of his death, Khandora set off along with the Explorer's League on their expedition.

Gradually, with the passing of several years and still remaining at her lowly position of being a cleaner, she eventually returned to her old self yet still she was driven by her husband's death as if it were the only thing she was clinging on to (except for a mug of ale, of course).

A vast ocean of white stretched out across the heavens; amidst the mountainous waves which bellowed across the endless sky hung a shining lantern, its rays of golden light penetrating the thick canopy as the pillars of light danced between the clouds. The hazy glow of the Sun could barely be seen below, the land blanketed in a glistening sheet of snow which glimmered brightly. Unearthly shadows reached out across the snowy landscape as the Sun dipped down into the horizon, disappearing behind the monstrous mountains which flanked the valley.

Khandora shivered as she rushed into her mountain-side cave, her braids of grey hair sparkling with specks of snow. She slouched down onto a rickety chair beside a fire as she wrinkled her nose and squinted, her features becoming indistinguishable amidst the sea of wrinkles lining her ancient face.

She looked towards a mound of fur beside her and said, “Oh Betsy, whit wid ey dooh withoaht yeh!” The mound of fur grumbled back in reply. Khandora chuckled, “Weeh behtter beeh gehttin' sim sleehp nowh, Betsy. Tehmohrrow mernin' weeh'll bae ‘eadin' ohff ta teh Vale wit teh rest o' teh teahm!” Khandora smiled to herself at the thought of the prospects looming ahead before she cuddled up beside Betsy and put her head down to sleep.
