Alignment: True neutral, and also Chaotic evil (Explained in personality)

Personality: Karsen was a proud defender of Silvermoon before being turned although sometimes he let his emotions control his actions. After regaining his will he realized that he was now a cold and emotionless killer. He is quite loyal to his friends, often refusing to leave them behind. He would rather stand by his friends and fight to the death then run away and live. This is attributed to him feeling that he himself had been left for death before turning into a deathknight.

History: Karsen was born into a family of rangers. His grandfather had been a ranger and so had his dad. Naturally, he felt the urge to please his father and wanted to become a ranger. He spent a majority of his childhood watching his dad strap on his armour, and polish his sword instead of playing with his friends. When he finally hit his teenage years, he spent every waking moment practising and training with a practise sword.Though he aspired to be a ranger like his father, his interest was grabbed by the birth of a new order The Knights of the Silverhand. With his father's approval he trained to become a Paladin. His dad looked on with pride as his son quickly blossomed into a adept swordsman. However when simply practising on a wooden dummy could not help his skill anymore, his father hired a trainer for Karsen much to his joy. Though Karsen enjoyed fighting with his sword, he had not learned any spells yet. At the request of his trainer Karsen grudgingly agreed to try to learn some spells. To his surprise, he found that he was no good at spells. He could easily use the basic spells such as Holy Light, but he could not use any of the more advanced spells. This didn't matter to Karsen however, he decided to make the best with what he had.

When the Scourge came, he and his dad at first decided to attempt to slow down the march of the Scourge to buy time for his family to get to safety. However as they saw the massive legion of undead coming towards them, they realized that it was a lost cause, and that they would simply add to their numbers. They grudgingly admitted defeat and ran to the safety of Silvermoon. As the Sunwell was destroyed, Karsen looked around in horror as the home he knew was burned to the ground. His faith in the light was not lost, however small cracks had found their way into his former, unbreakable faith. Karsen, like the rest of his race absorbed fel to cope with the withdrawl, however using fel meant that he had to give up his Light given powers. He was ecstatic when he realized he could drain the Naaru for the Light again. Undeterred by the sudden change, he volunteered to lead occasional forrays into the Deadscar to push back the remaining Scourge forces there.

However, one day as he lead a new group of recruits to a skirmish in the Dead Scar, he saw the Scourge retreat back into the Ghostlands. At once, overconfidence overcame him, and he ordered for his group to follow. They rushed after the retreating Scourge forces when all of a sudden they were flanked. Their escape route cut off, and with undead approaching them from all sides Karsen realized they had fallen into a trap. He ordered for them to stand his ground, and to take down every undead soldier with them as the undead charged. Nearly half of his group was decimated by the first wave as they were unready for battle. Fighting on against overwhelming odds, Karsen felt a burning hatred inside him as he blindly hacked at the incoming waves of Scourge. After what seemed like an eternity, the relentless waves of undead finally threatened to overwhelm Karsen and his last surviving squad member. He was nearly unconscious from fatigue and fear. As the undead circled around them, he finally passed out as he saw a giant abomination walk towards them.

Waking up chained, in a dark room, he quickly realized with joy that he wasn't dead. However, his joy quickly turned into fear and overwhelming despair as an undead man walks into the room. He is subdued by a pair of ghouls which hold him down as he is subjected to waves after waves of physical and psychological torture. In his despair, he realized nobody would rescue him. It was during a particularily harsh session, that his unbreakable faith in the Light finally broke. As he slumped against the floor, his vision darkening as he slowly passed out, he heard the undead chuckle as he said the last thing he would ever hear. "You brought down so many of our soldiers, let's see if you will fail like the others shall we?" Karsen never woke up as his will was subdued by the Lich King. He was trapped inside his own body as he only heard the voice of the Lich King telling him what to do. Unable to even resist, he watched as he was forced to commit mass murder. It was only when he was forced to kill the one of his only childhood friends that Karsen finally resolved to break free. During the battle at Light's Hope Chapel, Karsen was fighting with himself as much as with the crusaders. As he mentally battled with the Lich King's overpowering will, he was nearly subdued again until the Lich King was weakened greatly by the Ashbringer. Finally seeing the chance to seize his freedom, Karsen gave one last final push as he finally freed himself. The remnants of his deathknight conditioning stayed with him though, he now barely felt any emotions and had no qualms about killing. As he woke up, he could no longer hear the voice of the Lich King inside his head. Now starting to remember who he once was and what he set out to do, he realizes that he had become what he once strived to destroy. Setting his goal for himself to never forget who he was and what he fought for. He now constantly battles with himself as he tries to become the guardian he once was and to leave behind the killer he is now.
