Appearance

Kaghuros is a big, muscular Orc in the prime of his youth, and that inexperience shows in his body. He bears few scars aside from a large, jagged one across his chest and the chipped left tusk that he bears as a badge of pride. In keeping with Warsong tradition he wears tattoos. A matched set of tribal patterns writhe down his arms, carrying meanings of victory and service - though there is a great deal of room for more honor to be recorded there.

Personality

Kaghuros' personality seems simple on the outside but his philosophy is complicated. He likes fighting, but he fights to earn respect and maintain his lifestyle not because he particularly enjoys hurting and getting hurt. Really he's a thrill-seeker, since he feels the kind of adrenaline-high and wanderlust itch only a Warsong truly knows. He wants to win his fights, to skirt by without really putting his life on the line, so he won't hesitate to retreat if his life is truly in danger - he might be an Orc but he wants to die old and respected not young and full of holes.

Perhaps because of the things he saw in Northrend Kaghuros takes the time to seek out new experiences and new adventures. He wants to see the world, and perhaps one day to understand his place within it (though he probably wouldn't put it that way). He also tends to drink and party too much, taking things to excess out of a youthful desire to outdo everyone else.

History

Kaghuros is the first son of Karag Rocktusk, an Orc whose lust for battle ended in the camps. He and the woman who would become his mate had fought with the Horde under the misguided bloodrage of Mannoroth. They followed the scent of battle until it dissipated, cold and unforgiving, in the highlands of Arathor. Thus their son was born in the camps, raised under Human whips and the long shadow of deprivation. He learned hard lessons, both at the hands of his captors and through the dissatisfaction and despair of his kinsmen.

Rocktusk's mentor, an old Orc by the name of Joren Stonearm, took Kaghuros under his wing as he grew. Though his father taught him how to work with tools and skin and cook, Joren taught him how to fight. With fists, at first, in the camps, but on the road he lectured the growing Orc on proper blade technique and ancient practices of centering and meditation. Kaghuros didn't pay much attention, but still the ideas wormed their way into his personality much like his father's did. He grew patriotic like all youths, but in the end he always left the battlefield with a settling discontent in his stomach. Still, he grew through the troubled times and trained with Stonearm even as the old Blademaster grew older still.

Soon enough the time came for Kaghuros to leave his father's farm. He'd done his trial during the war years, and he was a full Warsong. That meant he was ready enough to fight in Northrend and defend the world from the Scourge threat - or so he felt. He sharpened an axe and hefted a shield and there he found his first battles and tasted bloodthirst for the first time.

The campaign was long, terrible, and drenched in the blood of Orcs and Men alike. Kaghuros was in the Borean after the path was cleared, a fresh recruit to throw into the grinder at Icecrown. Grueling weeks of travel brought his battalion to Angrathar too late to be slaughtered, but too early to enjoy a respite. They pressed on, further and further, hungering for combat. Kaghuros earned his name in the later months of the campaign on a patrol deep into Vrykul country. Though he remembers little of the battle, he was found by his rescuers drenched in blood, his left tusk missing its point, beneath a slain Vrykul. His broad-headed axe was lodged halfway through the man's skull.

The war carried on, and the honor and bloodlust and victory-tattoos eventually rang hollow to this young Orc. He wanted something different, something both more and less important than killing for the Warsong Clan. When he shipped home he hung up his insignia and helped his father with the farm for a few months, but that didn't prove the cure. He felt that itch between his shoulderblades even if he hated it. He wanted to fight, even if he didn't want to die doing it.

And that's where our story begins: a young Orc who feels he's missing something in his life travels the world for honor, money, peace of mind, and a little adrenaline. This is the story of Kaghuros, son of Rocktusk. Kaghuros Broadaxe.

Skills and Abilities

Blade Almost-Master: Kaghuros was trained by a blademaster, a friend of his father's named Joren Stonearm, but didn't really internalize those lessons so he isn't actually good at sword combat yet. He's interested in completing his training somehow so he can make sure he wins all his fights instead of just the lopsided ones. As of now he only knows basic blade techniques, so he chooses to use the one-handed axes and shields he's familiar with instead of trying to self-teach based on what little he remembers.

Son of Rocktusk: Most Orcs claim a trait from their bloodline, real or imagined. Kaghuros got the battle-rage from his Warsong heritage as well as a startlingly tough set of teeth from his father, or at least so he'll tell you. He may have chipped one tusk, but you should've seen the other guy. A word for the wise: don't get too close or he'll bite your ear off.

A Challenging Profession: Not content with living and dying by the axe as a Grunt, Kaghuros hopes to make a name for himself on the gladiatorial circuit. He's made a name for himself in the Warsong local matches as a Challenger for the clan but he still wants some practice before he takes on bigger fish. In the meantime his backroom and dirt-circle fighting wins give him the cash to travel and lead a lifestyle he wouldn't otherwise be able to keep up.
