Skills and Abilities

  • Shadowcall: While all Night Elves can meld with the shadows of the night, Kadis has learned to do so in a different way - even moving cannot destroy her cover. While being an excellent camouflage, this spell is still not perfect and even the least intelligent of creatures will still be able to notice her should they wander too close. However, it should be noted that the Priestess still cannot attack while merged with shadows. This ability is only usable at night.
  • Moonshield: The Priestess of the Moon channels the divine energies of her faith, creating a shield of bright moonlight. This magical shield protects her from the more dangerous of harms, weakening attacks against her. Unholy beings such as the undead and demons that come near this light could well feel a weakening of their abilities, though this is unlike to be so against those with a strong will (such as Forsaken and Death Knights).
  • Starfall: Starfall is the legendary spell Priestesses of the Moon are best known for. The Priestess turns a single arrow into multiple bolts that fly to multiple targets from her bow, glowing with the light of Elune.
  • Blessed Arrow: The Priestess infuses her arrow with divine energy, engulfing it in cold white flame. As it hits the target, it explodes in a flash of pale light and freezes those nearby for a moderate amount of time.
  • Dance of Spears: The Priestess furiously attacks her opponents with three spears, her moves similar to a strange dance. Her quick strikes are difficult to escape or dodge yet far from impossible to do so, but by performing this move she opens herself up to all attacks - a single quick blow can take her life.
  • Moonforged Armour: The Priestess' strange enchanted armour glows brightly. It can protect her from a lot physical attacks, but not from harmful magic. Its enchantments only amplify the damage inflicted upon the Priestess by her opponents' spells.
  • Saber's Might: The Priestesses are taught to tame and train the sacred Frostsabers of Winterspring. Her saber is the best of her companions, a loyal friend and a powerful warrior. Seeing the strange Priestess ride her saber into battle is a terrifying sight.

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Kadis owns an admirable amount of robes, normally coloured shades of purples and silvers to show her devotion to her Mistress, Elune. When preparing for combat, however, the Priestess chooses to wear the enchanted armour reserved for those of her order, normally also coloured the silvers and light purples of the Sisterhood.

Other: Kadis, through more than a century of training, has gained quite some bulk. Though she still looks nothing like a fully trained sentinel, the young Priestess of the Moon still has a respectful amount of muscle on her lithe frame.

Personality

Kadis has grown up rather traditionally. She has a strong mistrust for outsiders of any race, even outright hatred for some. Despite this fact, the teachings of the Sisterhood have always focused on tempering this hatred and mistrust. Now, Kadis will move to help most creatures in need whatever their race though her own people will always come first in her eyes.

History

Kadis was born to a Sentinel and a Druid in the forest of Ashenvale, quite a way's away from the town of Astranaar. One could say she had a rather average childhood, learning of Elune, combat and, when time permitted, nature. Sadly, it appeared in her early life that luck was not to be part of her immortal life as her father died when she was about ten years old, the barrow dens he called home giving way to the whims of nature and collapsing.

In honour of her fallen father, Kadis's mother continued teaching her young daughter in what she knew of nature, instilling an interest in the Druids in the girl. As Kadis grew older, a Priestess -younger than her mother yet still much older than the girl- had started making more and more frequent visits and, though her mother never spoke a word of it, Kadis believed there to be more between the two than they let on.

Even so, the Priestess taught the young Kadis about the Sisterhood, Elune, and what she later found out to be her calling. Despite her interest in nature, manifesting in daily "adventures" out into the woods, Kadis had soon decided she would become a Priestess as her mother's close friend had suggested. When Kadis finally came of age, the girl left Ashenvale in order to join the Sisterhood as a Priestess.

Before she left, however, her mother and the Priestess who had become as much family as her father had once been, had another surprise for her. As they set up a celebration for their daughter, believing the girl to have left her things behind again to be in nature, they had started talking of how they felt. About each other, about the girl, about Kadis's fallen father. Unbeknownst to them, however, Kadis -while she had been out- returned early to find her mother and the Priestess choosing each other as life mates with a single kiss. Despite the awkwardness of the situation, Kadis was happy for her mother to have found love again, as she was happy for herself to have two parents once more.

It wasn't long after this that Kadis had left for the Temple in order to train. Remaining there for years at a time, she was often visited by her parents, often her Priestess mother alone due to her own duties. Though, in the Temple, there was rarely time for adventure out in nature, Kadis still traveled out there when she could to honour her father's memory, returning soon to continue her training.

As all good things do, however, the peace that had lasted for the entirety of Kadis's life had ended and, against the wishes of her mentors and peers, the youngster traveled back to Ashenvale to help in its defence. Finding her mothers first, Kadis joined the defence force as support. With the war, however, came the issue of defending oneself from attack and, whenever they had the time, her Sentinel mother had decided to teach the young priestess skills at combat. Skills that Kadis took to gladly, despite the grimness of the situation.

The war eventually did end and, though her mother was reluctant, Kadis wished to continue her training with the woman and so they often trained Kadis's archery and combat skills with the Moonglaive. They continued this for some time before it was time Kadis returned to the Temple to continue her studies there, relocating to Darnassus once it was ready for habitation.

This is where Kadis remained until the Orcs attacked. Though she often received mail from her parents, and still did, Kadis had decided that she could better continue her studies as a Priestess by helping those in need: The defence forces of Ashenvale. Not having forgotten her wish to one day be a Priestess of the Moon, Kadis continued her archery training as best she could while fighting the Orcs among her Sisters.

Only at 105 years old, though, it seemed foolish of the young Kaldorei to believe a Priestess of the Moon would even approach her for training... She herself wasn't even sure if she was ready for such a task! Even so, whether it were the Amber eyes the Priestess was born with, or some other factor, a Priestess of the Moon -millenia older than Kadis- found the young Elf bathing. She seemed to care little for Kadis's awkwardness and asked her but a single question. "Are you ready?"

It didn't take long for the young Kadis to decide on an answer yet, as the word was about to leave her lips, the older woman continued, warning Kadis of hardships to come during her training, and beyond. The next one and a half century would not be an easy one, she promised and yet, even with the knowledge in her mind, Kadis answered the Priestess positively. She wanted to serve her Mistress, the Mother Moon, however she could... The hardships she would endure, she would endure for her and, with that, her fate was sealed.

Unlike what Kadis expected, her mentor did not take her to the Temple of the Moon. Instead, the two found themselves in a clearing, where the older woman removed her armour, only wielding her weaponry. Brandishing it, she motioned for her student. "Attack me." Kadis was dumbfounded by this, though the confusion lasted but a moment and she soon charged forth. She did poorly, in truth. Not landing a single hit and being pushed back every time. Despite the setbacks, Kadis always returned to fight until the Priestess motioned for her to stop. Whereas the student was winded and sweaty, the mentor showed nothing, instead returning her armour to herself and motioning for Kadis to follow.

This is when Kadis was taken to the Temple of the Moon. From there on, the young Elf was confined to the city, spending most days in bed, and almost all nights with her mentor. She was taught things she'd never even read about, both spiritually as well as physically. Her archery skills were honed, and the Elf was soon taught new Goddess-granted abilities. However, it seemed Kadis's mentor always kept something back. Unable to cast her new abilities, Kadis went to see her mentor and ask. However, when she reached the older woman, she barely got any words out as the Priestess stood in front of her. Telling her of the hardships a Priestess of the Moon faces daily, and Kadis not wavering in her faith, her mentor seemed almost pleased.

Though it had taken more than a few years, Kadis had finished her first stage of training. Having started so young had had its toll, of course, the skinny girl needing a lot of time to truly come into her own at the Temple. Though she had half-expected her next part of training to be in Ashenvale, her mentor instead turned them to Winterspring. There, over the course of another amount of long years, Kadis's archery was honed. A skill she took to much better than the spellwork, perhaps thanks to her mother's blood coursing through her veins. Though she was still no match for her mentor, the older woman promised she would improve with time, as she once had, and guided the younger woman north to tame and train a Frostsaber of her own.

As Kadis learned how to tame one of the fearsome, yet strangely delicate beasts, the young Elf learned another two abilities. The Blessed Arrow and Dance of Spears. Though Kadis needed some time to even finish this part of her training, the Elf did finally manage. Her mentor already having left, she'd decided to leave one final instruction to her student. To meet her at the Kel'theril lake to the south when she was ready.

Though Kadis had arrived at the lake, and the ruins surrounding it, there was no sign of her mentor. Quickly deciding the Priestess of the Moon could take care of herself, Kadis pushed on into the ruins only to be beset upon by spirits! Those that charged forth were almost the easiest, as Kadis was able to dispatch them from atop her mount with the new skills she'd learned. However, the spirits that lingered just out of range were a different matter. As one wave of spirits had wavered, another swept forth and, with them, terrible visions came to her mind.

She saw pain and suffering as the city fell. She saw countless deaths that threatened to run her off her mount. Slipping down off the Frostsaber and letting go of the reins for it to help her, she used her Dance of Spears ability, biting back the tears that seemed to flow unnaturally at all the pain and suffering she was shown from the past. Throwing defence to the wind, the Elf managed to cut down her foes with the magic of her Goddess, though she'd been cut and bruised all over. Her wounds nearly fatal as most of what she wore for armour was reduced to scraps.

Only then did her mentor show herself. Murmuring a prayer to the Mother Moon, Kadis was healed and, though still weak, the two returned to the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus where the young Kaldorei was granted with the reward for her years of effort. She was finally a Priestess of the Moon to her people, and it was time for her to help against the Orcs of Ashenvale.
