Appearance

Kadhras typically wears leather armor, bought some time ago and showing its age. His boots are well-kept, though, and are often freshly re-stitched. He has a pair of swords prominently strapped across his back, though they, like his armor, are mismatched. Kadhras carries with him a large pack containing a torch, a piece of flint, a nicely-woven blanket, and a pile of other odds and ends.

Personality

Kadhras is normally a polite and pleasant enough person to be around; despite having lost so much, he still maintains some semblance of manners. That said, he also has a morbid, snarky sense of humor, which could easily be mistaken for an overall pessimistic demeanor.

It is only when certain subjects are brought up that Kadhras truly becomes disagreeable. He is extremely opinionated about the events of the Third War, the leadership of the Sin'Dorei, and other politically-charged topics. Being stubborn goes hand-in-hand with being opinionated, and as such, Kadhras tends to become frustrated when others do not agree with him on the aforementioned subjects.

Curiously, though Kadhras chooses to live in the wild, he does not seem overly comfortable in that environment. Unlike most hunters or woodsmen on Azeroth, he is not really at home among the trees. Or the dirt. Or the potentially-poisonous, disease-ridden insects. Rather, he has been forced to adapt to that world by his self-imposed exile.

History

Kadhras was born and grew up in Goldenmist Village. There, his mother and father had a shared, moderately successful cordwaining shop. As a child, he learned how to work with leathers of different qualities, and expected to live out his life in a peaceful, productive manner.

As he reached adulthood, this plan seemed to be well into fruition: Kadhras had become skilled at crafting boots, was making excellent wages from his handiwork, and was courting an Elf by the name of Aenaria. Unfortunately, it was around this time when the Second War saw Trolls and Orcs besieging Elven lands. Kadhras' father, Elirion, had a breastplate and chain armor commissioned, and had his mind set on defending his home. After several nights of arguing between father and son that culminated in an exchange of blows, Kadhras left with his mother in tow to Silvermoon. There, they quickly went to work making footwear for the surge of Elven soldiers, establishing themselves within the city as skilled cordwainers.

By the end of the war, Kadhras had lost contact with both Aenaria and his father. A family friend was to deliver the news to Kadhras that Elirion had been killed in battle, and brought his father's freshly-made armor as a token of his memory. There was a brief ceremony for Elirion outside of Goldenmist. Kadhras was not present.

Years passed, with crafting taking up most of Kadhras' time. His mother stopped working altogether, and eventually moved to Tranquillien with the money she had previously earned. Kadhras rarely heard from his remaining parent from that point on, even after sending her letters about the Elven woman he met through a business partner and would eventually marry.

The celebration was small but lavish, taking place in an ornately-decorated courtyard within Silvermoon. Months later, Selesyne Felirien announced her pregnancy to their friends and business partners. She would give birth to a daughter, who they named Aneska. Kadhras continued his work while Selesyne cared for their daughter, living happily together in this manner for ten years. Then the Scourge attacked, and their world was set aflame.

Selesyne was cut down in the markets of Silvermoon. By the time the undead reached their home, Kadhras had already escaped out a window with Aneska, but barely. Hearing and seeing nothing but death and destruction around him, Kadhras had one instinct: To run. And he did. Even as he felt the Sunwell's magic being ripped from his body, he ran without question, deep into the Eversong Woods.

The two Elves managed to stay hidden in the forest for two days before meeting with another group of survivors. By then, Aneska was ill from the destruction of the Well, and Kadhras on the verge of mental collapse. They were led back to an Elven camp, and offered a place among the other refugees of Silvermoon. Without money (or anyone to accept it), Kadhras had no choice but to learn the art of survival, and quickly.

Weeks passed, and Aneska's condition only worsened. By the time that messengers from Kael'Thas' newly-dubbed Sin'Dorei arrived at the camp, she was on the verge of death. Kadhras was willing to accept any cure, any deal to save the only remnant of his former life. And so he drank of fel energy, swearing himself to the cause of the Blood Elves. Aneska had not the strength. The soft blue light finally faded from her eyes as Kadhras held her small form up to the demonic crystal the Sin'Dorei had brought. What could only be a cruel smile twisted the fiery slits that watched from the other side.

Kadhras' life became a repetitive blur. He returned to Silvermoon and assisted in the manual labor required to rebuild it. He slept, worked, and ate, but did so as a spectator, watching through a fog. It was not until Silvermoon was restored that clarity returned to him, and with clarity came a bitter resentment of what his people had become. What he had become.

At first, he spoke openly about his "concerns," but the new regime in Silvermoon was quick to inform him as to the absolute authority of King Sunstrider's word. Kadhras continued to verbally attack the new Elven way of life, and was imprisoned for it. After being released, he voluntarily began a life in exile. His initial plan of action was to take up residence in Human lands, but promptly found that his kind were no longer welcomed by their old allies. Worse, a faction of scourge seemed to think of him as a friend. With that discovery, Kadhras immediately fled the Eastern Kingdoms. He would attempt to find refuge with living members of the Horde, given no other options.

Over the course of his journeys in Kalimdor, Kadhras managed to find some closure and learn respect for certain other members of the Horde. Although he would be far from comfortable in the uncivilized holdings of the orcs, trolls, and tauren, he seems to prefer their company to being anywhere near the undead.
