Personality

Used to a life of servitude, Josie is timid and obedient, usually patient and slow to speak in the company of strangers. However, with friends and family, she will brighten up immediately; she's quick to smile and quick to laugh, though she's not particularly intelligent, so subtle humor is often wasted on her. She doesn't like to complain, but she's very capable of it, especially among those who are closest to her.

Unless she is absolutely certain that she is in good company (or that the person she's addressing will tear her head off), she tends to call people, especially those she believes are her superiors, "sir" or "ma'am". In spite of what could be considered her fear of people, Josie is actually a pretty trusting person. While not necessarily gullible, she will take most things at face value. She has a rather ruddy complexion, and her face turns red when she is uncomfortable, angry, flattered, or laughing.

She loves her family to a fault, and would probably worship them if it wasn't for her strong belief in the Light.

Josie is not friendly towards members of the horde because she sees them as responsible for her sister's melancholy and her stepfather's death. However, because her birth father was killed by Defias and she knows that all people are capable of either good or evil, she tries to judge people by their actions, and not by their race. She's rarely successful, but she still tries.

History

Josie was born in Stormwind City, the second oldest in a poor but loving family. Her father was a traveling merchant who had been ambushed and killed by Defias on his way home from a trip to Redridge. Although Josietta was only three years old at the time and therefore didn't remember much of her father, the attack devastated her older sister, aged seven years, and her mother, who was expecting one of Josie's little sisters. She [Josie's mother] took up drinking shortly afterwards. Four years later, she married a foolish but well-meaning man who was not particularly good with money. Although they both had steady incomes, money would be hard to find in the Samol household. (Josie's mother took her new husband's name, but Josie and her older sister kept the name Anderson). The addition of twin sisters didn't make it any easier, and there were times when the three older girls wanted to break down and cry, but the family was generally very loving and supportive.

Josie, however, had always been a very timid child. As much as she loved her family, she loved her time alone. She found that the best place to spend this time alone was at the Cathedral, where she spent much of her time from the time she was eight years old up until very recently. She didn't disturb the very busy clergymen, and they didn't shoo her away. It is very likely that she would not have learned to read or write had it not been for the hours spent among them.

At the age of thirteen, she began to look for work, inspired by her sister, who had become a blacksmith's apprentice. Her first job was as a cook's assistant in a tavern, but a few years later, she became a servant, working for various merchants, noble families, and other people who could afford to hire servants. At first, she was amazed at how the upper class lived, but she quickly grew out of it.

Not long after she began her first job, her older sister went with her stepfather to fight in the third war. While the young Jacqueline survived unharmed (physically, at least), her stepfather was killed. The twenty-one-year-old went out on her own shortly after returning from war, which broke Josie's heart. The two still see each other frequently, however, so she's not as upset by it as she'd expected.

Now twenty-two years old, Josie is living on her own at a boarding house in Old Town. Her mother still works as a barmaid, though she isn't a very friendly barmaid. She's quite depressing, actually, and her employer only keeps her on out of pity. The middle child, Jennie, works as a seamstress, a job that Josie helped her into. The twins, who are around fifteen years old, spend their days giggling idly or getting into mischief.
