Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Robes, hood, and gloves, often quite eye-catching. Also wears the disguise of a fisherman when among the public.

Other: His face is typically obscured partially or almost wholly by an overshadowing/masking hood or, with a fisherman's outfit, the hat tilted down. On his left hand is a marking of his allegiance to the Legion.

Personality

Jhorend has been exposed to years of magic corruption, including more recent Fel magicks. Many of his emotions are dulled and warped by a rapidly growing power lust. This lust is only exacerbated by his recent entry into the Burning Legion's ranks. Not yet have they been erased wholly, however. He can still enjoy himself. Granted, increasing sadism isn't all too welcome to many people, but he doesn't mind occasional socialization or other recreation. Alcohol hasn't lost his favor. He also appreciates a sense of humor, sometimes making a joke himself.

Among others, he has a degree of pretension, even when hiding, and selfishness is emergent. Condescension isn't unusual, though less frequent. He is also rather hot-headed, yet capable of cooling himself down in a brief moment or two.

Often nervous, he is also alert at almost all times, ready to respond at a moment's notice. Meeting someone new is a matter he approaches with extreme caution, due to the value and pertinence of his secrecy. It's likely he will make an attempt to create "allies" among others, or at least allay suspicion, by conversing. Aforementioned secrecy can end up resulting in an odd isolation from others or a lowered voice, though.

His stride is, much expected from his pretentious nature, a proud gait with his back stiff and careful steps, even when masquerading as a mere fisherman. He builds himself with an average amount of muscle, rather than the expected skimpiness of a mage, but not naturally enough to win out a martial specialist in raw strength. Spells and demons are still a much more frequent option for him in battle; he would only use physical combat to catch an enemy off guard due to their possible underestimation.

Alignment: Chaotic Evil (mostly)

History

Jhorend was born and lived in the kingdom of Alterac for the early years of his life. He was studious, intrigued by the fancies of the arcane even at a younger age. His parents were quietly proud and even commented positively on it from time to time. However, Stromgarde had occupied the kingdom quite shortly after he began looking into casting actual spells, and he had ceased to study.

After Stromgarde left the kingdom, his parents joined themselves with the Syndicate. Joined was frequently left alone, and in this time he practiced pyromancy away from the main kingdom. During one of his sessions he came across a Dalaran mage, who was versed in shadowmancy and fled for obvious reasons. The mage, seeing a potential ally, assisted in tutoring Jhorend.

His progress advanced rapidly from there, but the mage had made him promise to avoid demonstrating his knowledge if he was to keep helping Jhorend. Jhorend, far too interested and growing addicted to magic, kept this promise.

In years to follow, Jhorend's life had taken a darker turn when his parents died defending territory from the Alliance. He had not been there to see it happen, but in the passing days of worry, a Syndicate messenger delivered to him the news. Offering him refuge in exchange for mandatory service, he denied reluctantly. He returned to the Dalaran warlock, carrying with him a pack of varying notes, a journal, and supplies of which were mostly food, and declared his following.

They'd traveled south to Stormwind by foot unhurriedly, stopping often for a long session of teaching and quiet study from books "accumulated" along the way. Some years passed before their arrival, but Jhorend didn't end his study there. On one night, more than a decade since they'd entered Stormwind, his tutor was caught by guards mid-incantation. Jhorend himself narrowly avoided capture as well, and currently he has no knowledge of what became of the man. Fearing for his own incarceration, he'd undertaken the process of sanctioning himself as a practitioner of Warlock magic, to which he succeeded.

He'd went about the world afterwards, claiming that he sought to prove warlock magic could be used for good, and took little care to hide himself. He'd searched for and partook in occurrences and events where he believed his magic could be used. More than once he's nearly overstepped his boundaries doing so. As of recently, however, he had come across a Legion stronghold after being lured there, and in a spur of the moment decision he swore himself to them in exchange for power. His hand was carved as part of the initiation, marking his bond to the Burning Legion he now serves.
