Personality

Jason tries to be as cheerful as he can, especially on his adventures. He is a curious person always wishing to learn more about the world. A flirt with zero understanding of foreign cultural standards, he will talk to anyone about anything. He acts brave and will likely get into a fight even though he isn't much of a fighter. To him it is all a game, and in his way of life that dictates he'll often be at strange places, he is prone to trouble and accidents. He'd claim to be mysterious and understanding, but he is far from that. A Gilnean who lived long behind the Greymane wall, with barely a battle to his name, let alone a war, Jason knows close to nothing about the world when it comes to people.

History

Jason was born in Gilneas to a widowed smith who worked hard to sustain his son as a single father, and managed to do well for the first six years. When the war hit the southern kingdoms, he and his father went south to Ironforge to help the military by crafting weapons and armor, as well as parts for guns and heavier artillery. As a young boy, Jason had little he could do to help his father, and for the six years he lived in Ironforge, he had nothing to do but read and listen to the tales of the dwarven mountaineers. Charmed by their way of life, Jason was heartbroken when he heard from his father that he received orders from the Gilnean military to return to Gilneas to aid build the Greymane wall.

His father, a man loyal to his kingdom, and fearful for his son's safety, decided that it will be for the best if they go and return home, away from the wars that were ripping the world apart. Less than willing to go home, but even less willing than that to disobey his father, Jason went home. At age 12, on the verge of 13, he was old enough to help his father with the construction. Seeing the heartache he caused his son, Jason's father decided to keep him his apprentice, teaching him the art of blacksmithing and gunsmithing over the years. It became a passion for Jason, but only a second passion. The Dwarven colleagues of his father have given them several books to take with them, some about craft, and some, for Jason, about adventures and history.

He began trying to climb the cliffs and mountains of Gilneas, and practicing his rifle in hunting. Without a proper mentor, though, it was more than just difficult. His father was deeply concerned, seeing his son return home bruised and cut from his travels every few days, and decided to burden him with more work to discourage him from going. The result, however, was quite the opposite. Years of smithing made Jason, now in his mid-twenties, a strong man, and not even the great Greymane wall could hide the third war from them.

Jason decided to return to his training, no longer a teenager, but an adult at his prime height, made strong from years of craftsmanship. Guided by his books, which he already knew by heart, and armed with his tools, which he made himself, he went out every few days to climb a different mountain or cliff, returning home bruised and empty handed. But with the dangerous cliffs of the Gilnean shores, he soon learned where to find what the Dwarven mountaineers taunted him with. Treasure. He returned from his trips bearing pearls or gems, sometimes some salvaged goods from a sunken ship. He improved over the years, and his aging father no longer worried. They made good money selling decorated weapons with gems and pearls, and Jason became their village's talk of the town as a treasure hunter and a daredevil. He entertained children and women with his tales of adventure, only increasing his thirst for adventure and fame. And as if the gods heard the man's silent wish, they gave him exactly that. A chance at the great big world.

The Cataclysm struck hard and relentlessly at the world. He joined the military to keep the Forsaken at bay, with his years of marksmanship and strong, tall figure. He learned that war was nothing like adventuring, and when it was time he retreated with his father, an old man now, to Darnassus. The sail through to stormy seas, through the treacherous Gilnean waters, and through Forsaken blockades had all taken their toll on Jason's father. Jason reached Darnassus. But he did so alone. He worked with the elves, crafting weapons and armor for their struggle against the orcs. He learned of the curse that befell on some of his Gilnean brothers and sisters, he learned of the history of the elven and the world from a perspective the Dwarves did not have.

That re-ignited the flame in his mourning heart, and he chose to sail to Stormwind, and return again to Ironforge. He spent months as a smith to earn money, and catching up on the history of the world. When he looked at his reflection on the steel plates he sold to military men and mercenaries, he saw he has become what his father was 30 years ago. Heartbroken over the loss he decided that he mustn't let himself be enslaved to work alone. The world is grand, and he must see it. He fashioned himself new equipment, from Dark Iron and Elven wood, and left Ironforge. Trading his shop and excess materials for a stagecoach and a horse, and with the money he put aside he left to venture the world, seeking ruins and fortune, treasure and fame.
