Personality

Jamie is a curious and open person. Everything is interesting to him. He likes getting to know other people, and also talking with them... pretty much about anything. Once he sat down to talk with a woman in a tavern, only because she ordered milk! (Which isn't very popular with Jamie. Frankly, he hates it.)

Talking about taverns and drinks, there's one kind of drink that's especially favoured by him. He always carries a flask with him, full of that tasty liquid. And that would be mead. But hey, who doesn't like a good mug of mead?

When he is working on something - like a device or tool - the world around him ceases to exist. Words spoken to him go right through his ears. However, this also means that the products made by him are - more or less - working as intended.

If it comes to sad situations - like the bombing and leaving of Gnomeregan - he prefers to turn away and try to do his best to continue living without the sad feeling. He has always been successful in doing so.

He is motivated by learning, experiencing and finding new things. These are the reasons why he turned to adventuring - along with Gnomeregan's bombing.

During his adventures, he started writing poems. I suppose it's his way of remembering past events. I've managed to recover one near Loch Modan, shorty after the bombing:

____ Oh the troggs, the troggs, I'd rather eat some frogs. Explosives, we had set, And the anwser was: hell.

Hell upon us all, The mighty gnomes. So far from home, The mighty gnomes.

I'd die a thousand deaths, To see our home rise again. Sadly, that will not happen, And I think I've written enough for you to know why I wrote this. ____

That's it. Did you like it? I think it's ending would have needed a little polishing, but who knows what thoughts troubled the poor gnome's mind.

History

James Copperhand was born. He had a flawless childhood: his parents were generous and kind to him. His father was an engineer and an ex-soldier who fought in the Second War. His father taught many, many things to Jamie. He was learning well, and his father was satisfied with his progress.

When Jamie reached adulthood - the age of 18 - the celebration didn't last long. Troggs invaded Gnomeregan and Jamie - against his father's will - joined the defense. He acquired combat experience during the times of war. He learned how to use a sword, a gun and also learned how to dual wield daggers. At some nights, he and a few gnomes went behind enemy lines to reduce the number of Troggs. In spite of all the effort, the fight was eventually lost. But it wasn't all in vain, for the gnome learned vital things there, and maybe that's what made him survive to the this very moment. Techniques, moves, types of weapons, survival skills and escape methods he had learned and also experienced.

Gnomeregan was bombed by accident, and the remaining Gnomes needed to take refuge within their Dwarven cousins' city: Ironforge. However, his stay was short. Having lost his parents in the fight, he was broken and all alone. Even a fine mug of mead didn't cheer him up anymore. Five days he had spent in the inns of Ironforge until finally deciding to set off to find his fortune.

Sometimes, people joined him in his adventures. Once, a group of travelling bards accompanied him while exploring Loch Modan. When they stopped for the night, the bards started singing. Singing so beautifully in poetic lines, it inspired Jamie. As he was listening to the play, he began to form his own poetic lines in his very mind. When Jamie and the bards split up, they gave Jamie an empty book and a pen. Since then, Jamie always writes lines into it when he has the time to do so.

He acquired two Elementium daggers from a corrupted mage in Duskwood. The fight was almost lethal. I saw it with my own eyes. Should Jamie striked even a second later than he did, he wouldn't be anything now, but ash. I had a poem from him about this fight, but I'm sorry to tell that I've lost it.

He's seen a lot of regions in his adventures: Wetlands, Loch Modan, Badlands, The Searing Gorge, The Burning Steppes, Redridge, Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood and the jungly Stranglethorn.

Talking about places he visited, I should add, that the Outland and Northrend affairs didn't really interest the gnome. He heard the rumors and gossips, but he wanted to travel through The Eastern Kingdoms first. That's the sole reason why he was never interested in "Frozen Kings" and "Outlandish Things". At least that's the way he explained it to me.

He now resides in Booty Bay, waiting for the right moment to try his luck... And that luck might have visited him in form of a recruitment into the Paradise Trading Company...
