Personality

Jal'Thek used to be a shy elusive and often absent-minded figure. He never liked the martial arts, although he wasn't bad at using weapons. His interests lied in nature, studying every plant and every root for it's alchemical effects. Jal'Thek never was a social person and didn't have many friends, perhaps this was the cause why he'd rather stayed out of villages. His contact with shadow magic warped his mind. Strangely he became more social, perhaps because he lost his instinct to fear. Jal'Thek sometimes interrupts a conversation of strangers with a comment or question and then walks away. He's friendly to persons he likes, and that could be anyone of any race. And a complete crackpot to anyone he doesn't like. He's oblivious to authority, he would take orders from Troll elders but he isn't shy of entering a discussion, Jal'Thek wouldn't listen to anyone else, unless they made a friendly request. Seemingly friendly yet wicked in the deep bowels of his mid, Jal'Thek is bent on vengeance, and doesn't shun learning nasty voodoo tricks to accomplish his goals. He's strange, even to Troll standards. Jal'Thek clings to the old ways of the Loa, although he doesn't dislike the elemental shamanism, actually he's more versed in it than the voodoo, he thinks it's not the way for the Trolls to go. Jal'Thek doesn't, actively, practice cannibalism, but he's happy to shrink a head or find another way to deny a spirit access to the spirit world. There's absolutely no way he would let go of the Voodoo magic, his loyalty to the Loa is dauntless. Jal'Thek is non-Horde or even Anti-Horde, he thinks the Trolls are being used as puppets, he wouldn't accept any order from any Orc warlord, and think the Trolls should keep themselves from aiding the Horde for a while for them to realize that they are an addition, not a bunch of slaves. He fears seas, his abduction by Murlocs which nearly caused him to drown made him aqua-phobic. He's fine with rivers and ponds, but hesitates to enter big lakes and seas, seemingly sure some sea creature is hiding below the surface to take him.

History

Jal'Thek was born on the Broken Isles as a son of Sokka'Thek, a respected hunter throughout the tribe, though not extraordinary skilled. Therefore is was only natural that Jal'Thek would become a warrior as well, but although his father began training him very early, Jal'Thek became bored quickly and was absent-minded all the time, he'd much rather sit somewhere in the jungle inspecting various plants and roots. Sokka quickly lost his patience and washed his hands, Jal's mother…well Jal'Thek doesn't remember his mother. So, Jal'Thek was abandoned at the age of 10, left to wander the jungle on his own. Jal'Thek didn't care, and actually he liked being on his own, Jal'Thek never was a very social person. Luckily Jal'Thek was thought by his father how to survive in the wilderness, something Jal'Thek was interested in. In the following weeks, Jal'Thek lived from plants and roots he learned were edible and even managed to catch some critters. In those weeks he gained more knowledge than in his past years, experimenting several fruits and roots, somehow he quickly noticed what was edible and what wasn't. Jal'Thek quickly became comfortable living on his own, he actually felt at home in the jungle. That was, until the Murloc incident, the Murlocs at the time were, with a few exceptions, quite peaceful. Jal'Thek met the exceptions, he was drinking from a small stream near the beach when two Murlocs emerged from the water and attacked him. Jal'Thek, boasting only rudimentary skill with weapons was defenseless. One of the Murlocs threw a net and Jal'thek was ensnared. The two Murlocs happy with their newfound prey dragged him into the sea to their lair. Jal'Thek was drowning slowly, helpless. But there's always bigger fish, and some giant turtle chased of the Murlocs who fled, and Jal'Thek managed to free himself. Jal'Thek has always seen this event as a blessing from the Loa, but he's been aqua phobic ever since. He was found by an old witchdoctor named Zul'Kuz, he wasn't really worth the Zul' as he was more of an alchemist then a voodoo master. But they have been best of friends ever since. Kuz thought Jal'Thek the basics of Alchemy, and Jal'Thek proved to be an excellent student. In the following two years Kuz taught Jal'Thek how to discern the various effects from ingredients along with some voodoo tricks. Jal'Thek gained a lot of knowledge about the Loa, as Kuz seemed to ‘serve' all of them. Then the Murlocs invaded, and it became dangerous, Kuz and Jal hid themselves in the jungle and hunted the Murloc, sacrificing them to the Loa. But the Murlocs grew more numerous everyday, and eventually there were to many to handle. Kuz had a idea, he would brew a most vile concoction and use voodoo to give it life, using it to destroy the Murlocs. But when the brew was finished, the Murlocs came in huge numbers, Kuz tried to animate the concoction but when he did it exploded. Shadowy fire devoured Kuz and most of the Murlocs, Jal'Thek got hit too, but he survived, altough he suffered some brain damage. He was found by an Orc, one of Thrall's men who where evacuating the island, Jal remained unconscious for days. And eventually woke up on the Echo Isles. The Horde was making themselves ready to march towards Ashenvale and Jal'Thek joined them, curious about what this new land would bring him. He wouldn't stay with them long, Jal'Thek didn't like the fighting and wandered of into the wilderness, to remain there for several years. Recently Jal'Thek arrived in Ratchet, helping out the gladiators there and tending to their wounds. Eventually he heard about what Zalazane did to his people. Jal'Thek returned to Sen'Jin with one goal: Vengeance, by any means necessary.
