Information

Player: Zombie

Character Full Name: Jalam'ei.

Character In-Game Name: Jalamei

Nicknames: Her older brothers would poke fun at her and call her "Jam", but she'd be very displeased if anyone asides from them tried to call her this -- heck, she doesn't like it when they do it. Asides from that, she doesn't have any nicknames to speak of, nor does she want any.

Associations: Darkspear Tribe, Orgrimmar, and also Ratchet, which she frequents in search of work.

Race: Darkspear troll.

Class: Warrior.

Age: Twenty-three years.

Sex: Female.

Hair: A deep forest-green color, and long enough to reach mid-way to her elbows. It is shaggy and messy, something like a mane, though she will usually try to tame it somewhat by haphazardly pulling it into braids or ponytails. Still, stray strands stick up and hang out everywhere, especially into her face, which aggravates her to no end. (She's quite close to just chopping it all off, but hasn't quite gotten around to it yet.)

Eyes: Beady and gray. She tends to squint them a lot in annoyance.

Weight: 215 pounds, a good deal of that being muscle.

Height: Six-foot, nine inches.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.

Appearance

Her outfit consists of a rather unorthodox and unfashionable mix-match of leather and mail armor. Though it's all well-kept (she takes a good deal of pride in it), some of the armor pieces have clearly seen their fair share of wear and tear, and many have been repaired several times over. She's not very big on accessorizing, but will typically wear a hoop or two in her long ears, and perhaps will have an enchanted necklace around her neck or trinket on hand. The only consistent accessory she has is a bronze bull-ring piercing in her large, beak-like nose.

Other: Her skin is pale blue, and her tusks are relatively large and tall, bigger than those of the typical female troll. She tends to lick at the tusks when she's nervous or pondering.

Personality

Jalam'ei is a gruff, grumpy creature. It seems as though she's always aggravated by something-or-another, and she has a very low tolerance for things that aggravate her. As a result, she doesn't get along well with others and doesn't often placidly accept orders or commands, either. She likes to do things her own way, on her own, but she isn't stupid; if she realizes that working with or under others is best in a certain situation, she will likely suck it up and deal with it, though probably not happily. Often self-centered and greedy, she will most commonly accept the companionship of others if they are there to help her complete a job which would result in profit.

This doesn't mean she's a bad person, though. She isn't, at least not at heart. Though harsh and snappy when in a bad mood or around those that aggravate her, she is capable of being somewhat pleasant in her own rough, not-quite-friendly-but-something-close-to-it way. Even towards those she likes she will have a short fuse and lack of apparent fondness or kindness; she's terrible at expressing her emotions effectively, and she tends to resort to violence when she gets too frustrated by this. Just keep in mind that rudeness or unhappy behavior or even physical violence aimed at you don't necessarily mean that she dislikes you. Her sense of humor is sarcastic and often patronizing, but that's just how she is. Don't take these things personally.

Typically, Jalam'ei doesn't do anything according to a schedule. She may seem relatively calm and collected, save for when her temper flares or she gets into an argument of some sort (in which case she'll be fiery and fierce), but in reality she's not collected at all and tends to think almost entirely in the moment. She's a bit more responsible with money and her jobs, but sometimes she only barely meets a deadline or spends every copper she owns on something she winds up not liking that much. Since her "responsible and tolerant" moods are difficult to distinguish from her "rash and aggravated" moods, her actions often are hard to predict. Anyone who knows her well enough is probably used to being unable to tell just what she'll do next (though it's almost guaranteed that she'll be grumbling and grumpy while she does it), but new acquaintances might not be sure what to do with her.

One could probably compare her overall behavior to that of some sort of animal, perhaps a wolf or serpent. Indeed, Jalam'ei seems rather feral at times, particularly when she fights. She may not be tremendously skilled, but she is physically strong, and very vicious. Outside of a fight she wouldn't usually think of hurting anyone beyond maybe smacking them around a little, and even then only if they were "asking for it" to begin with. (Exceptions to this would be when she's in a foul mood, in which case she wouldn't discriminate; anyone who rubbed her the wrong way would get their heads slammed into the nearest hard surface. At least she might feel a little bad about this afterward, though she wouldn't be likely to admit it.) During a fight, however, she'll bash in skulls and chop and maim almost blindly, reminding one of a berserker.

After all is said and done, and if her many flaws and annoying or unnerving qualities can be looked past, Jalam'ei is a decent companion with a snarky sense of humor. If she's come to like you, she'll have your back in a fight and may even help out for free if you need a favor -- though she'd certainly prefer some gold. ... Okay, never mind, she isn't a very good companion at all. Unreliable and mostly sticking to her own agenda, it'd be tough to make her like you enough to do anything for you without a good reason.

History

Jalam'ei was born roughly sixteen years before Thrall arrived on the island the Darkspear tribe occupied and finally defeated the murlocs, allowing the trolls to escape to a new, safe home. During this time, she had to suffer through what most troll females did; she was little but property to her family, and was treated as such. She had been raised to accept this, but inwardly longed for the life of a fighter. Her brothers, all older, were hunters and berserkers and warriors, and when she saw them practice, as she polished their weapons or prepared their armor, she wished that she would be the one to wield their axes and wear their gear.

She did not get a chance to fulfill this dream until after the Darkspear trolls had joined the Horde and settled in their new Sen'jin Village, after leaving the Echo Isles for fear of takeover by Zalazane. It took about a year for the idea to be truly accepted, but by the time she was eighteen, troll women were finally able to fight alongside males. Naturally, she jumped at the chance to wield an axe and shield of her own, and her father was not about to stop her; while he still only reluctantly considered her an equal, he was eager to see her become useful in some way. She was something of a poor housekeeper, after all, and had a strange and impulsive nature that made her difficult to control. Perhaps she would make a better fighter.

As it turned out, she did. She fought like a beast, eagerly and with fervor, though now that she was allowed out of her shell she proved to be somewhat hostile and gruff, and every bit as rough as her brothers. They were stronger than her, but that made them good sparring partners and practice fights with them taught her well. Slowly but surely she gained respect within her family, and within the warriors of her tribe as well. She was not outstanding, but she could hold her own, and that was more than they had initially expected. Sometimes she exceeded their expectations, even if not consistently.

By the time she turned twenty-one, she was no longer willing to remain at Sen'jin Village. Jalam'ei left for Orgrimmar, hoping to find work as a warrior-for-hire. Two years later, she's gotten a few big jobs, gotten a bunch more little ones, and is pretty much flat broke, but that's okay; gives her something to complain about and work towards fixing. In an attempt to increase income, she's no longer just taking jobs that require cracking skulls. She's started up an unnamed odd-jobs service, and is taking any tasks presented to her so long as the price is right. It can get a little tedious at times, but when you're doing these odd jobs in Orgrimmar and Ratchet more than anywhere else, the odd jobs become really odd. It's interesting, at least...
