Appearance

Serviceable robes, gowns when called for, or clothes more suited for manual labor when she's called upon to do so. Despite seeming 'regal' to some, it's more her demeanor than her attire.

Other: Isabelle is by no means a large person. A slight figure---not particularly curvaceous--- and short. Many comment that her presence in 'The mind's eye', meaning the impression she gives off, makes it easy to forget just how tiny a young woman she really is.

Personality

The fact that she has excelled in the active use of Light speaks volumes for her personality---amongst humans, a Light user must have certain degrees of personal discipline and conviction. She is an absolutely devout believer in the Light and all its possibilities to guide, heal, and purify. Behind kind eyes is a will that verges on unbreakable... even if not personally, her belief that proper devotion to the light makes any one person invincible in a religious sense shows through in everything she does.

Isabelle does not come off so much as forceful as she does very certain. While it would be an huge stretch to say she's likely to enter a situation and take charge (it would be a stretch, as she shies away from direct authority) there is rarely a sense of indecision about her. Whatever looks right, will be her input and suggested course of action.

Aside from this, it's easy to imagine that her charisma is entirely unintentional. Drawing the attentions of others is hardly her goal---however when it comes to weaving a hymn or teaching the of the Light...and getting those listening to actually listen, that unintentional charisma has its purpose.

History

Isabelle's history is very simple...it is also very short. Her tale here begins briefly after a muted 'coming of age'---which was her move from her family home in Westfall to the capital city of Stormwind. Her family history is not so much muddled as ambiguous enough to be ignored. From the Westfall area, her surname never quite owned large portions of land. Rather, they tended to drift into trades or were somehow or another affiliated with the Cathedral.

If a mission group passed through and there was an interested response, chances are there was a Varin in the crowd. Even when direct devotion wasn't the result, the Varin family never lost a sense of reverence. A prayer before every meal, before sleep, before seeing a relative off... the whole nine.

Isabelle's mother, for that matter, became a Paladin. In an odd double standard, her family would never approve in signing on as a soldier... but Miranda Varin being a Paladin and as a result being killed in Northrend made her the star of the family even after death. It's easy to suggest that her mother's willfulness, and the general Light adherence of the family, resulted in Isabelle. Strong willed, unfailingly sharp, and devoted to the ways and teachings of the light to the point of naivete or fault.

Amidst the turmoil of the world, her resolve seemed only to galvanize further and further. She knew what she intended, with all the studying she was doing---those around her most likely did not. Determined that one way or another, her devotion would help her help the world around her, she studied the Light and disciplined herself with a certain righteous fervor. When her father was injured for a short period of time due to a farming accident, there was not a blink before she took up his slack and still maintained her studies.

It appeared that nothing was going to stop her, though there didn't appear to be much outlet for use of her studies aside from continued life farming. That didn't seem to bother her, though---actually, if one asked her at the time, she'd have just commented that the Light would find proper use for her. Or to be more precise, the Light was using her properly. If she was there, it was intended so that she could spread the joy and teachings of the Light precisely where she was.

Blind faith tends to make her mentally indestructible. Even lending her a quality to enjoy minutia, or unpleasant times. It's meant to happen, and she dismisses it at that.

Then came the typical veiled opportunity life offers (as life rarely offers obvious ones)... It included a large log, an argument between a Paladin of Stormwind and a simple logger, and Isabelle being in the right place at the right time.

The argument was negligible---the logger had an opinion of Paladins being haughty and self serving crusaders. The Paladin, in all honesty, was just passing through with a few others looking to buy supplies to complete their trip. The logger was too busy griping to pay attention to what he should have been doing. There was an accident, and a Paladin ended up on the business end of a very large log.

Crushed, and with removing the log being a tender job (and one for five or more men) it seemed he might die of sheer misfortune. So the story goes that Isabelle simply reacted, and hurried over to pray for the falling light bringer. The story also goes that when said Paladin realized he was feeling a bit less agonized and dying with the then sixteen year old girl frantically praying nearby, she was told to keep praying.

So she did.

And she prayed for approximately two and a half hours, despite odd signals of fatigue forming during that time. For some reason, praying as 'hard' as she was, was draining on her mind and body. It may not have made sense to anyone nearby without an understanding of the Light, or who missed that faint golden glow that had been wavering in various intensities around the crushed individual.

Once he was properly cleared, Isabelle collapsed---she was brought back to her home by that group, and who she was of course was the first question. The name Varin rang bells---it was decided that Isabelle would make a proper priestess, with a bit of formal training and teachings. Her father commented that she rather likes to read, and the vast libraries of Stormwind became a deal sealing detail.

With frequent visits from her father, and learning and service to keep her busy, the next two years of her life went by easily. Note was taken of her affinity for purposing the light to invigorate and heal---in fact, they are the only things she is known to be able to do. The protective shields created by some, as well as the offensive 'smites' or otherwise uses of the light are outside of her capabilities.

Currently, Stormwind is the easiest place to locate her unless she has been sent on an errand or is visiting home in Westfall.
