Appearance

Hicks is usually dressed rather simply, albeit often in old and worn clothes. His armour shows obvious signs of years of use, well fitted to the man himself. Plated steel protects his more vital areas, while banded and scaled metal allows him to move where he needs to, and padded leather to keep him comfortable.

Other: Hicks' body is an absolute mess of scars and years wearing down on the old man. The once youthful bulk of his rigid muscles appears to have softened slightly, and his hair graying out, even if still kept clean and brushed. Standing out from the rest is a rather ragged scar, running along his left forearm and just past his elbow. The Stormwind icon has been tattooed across his right bicep. His weapon is a rather simple blade, the edge razor sharp.

Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Hicks is a man that can't seem to let go of the past. An old man by far, years of dedicated service under his belt, he seems hard-wired in the way he lives. A man plagued by years of war and battle, Hicks has long since been an alcoholic, with little sign of ever stopping. A generally nice enough man, despite his hate of certain races, he's usually the first to answer the call to arms or when someone needs help.

History

Born to a middle class family in Elwynn, Hicks grew up in a life built around farming and felling lumber. When he became old enough to do so, Hicks enlisted with Stormwind's armed forces, and began his training as an infantryman. Years passed in relative peace as Hicks took a wife and earned a family of his own, though military service always seemed to come first for him. When the Dark Portal was opened and the Orcs started the First War, Hicks was sent to the front lines to deal with the invaders. Now an officer, Hicks faced many troublesome matters as an officer on the battlefield. When the Orcs finally broke through and sacked Stormwind, Hicks was forced to follow along with the retreating Alliance forces, unable to properly mourn the deaths of either his wife or son.

With the Second War soon beginning, Hicks continued to give orders to the soldiers serving under, leading a rather successful career as an officer in the field. With the Orcs now beaten and enslaved in internment camps, Hicks began to doubt himself and his purpose in the military, the deaths of his family weighing heavily on him. Unable to cope with the stress, the man quickly became an alcoholic. Seen as a mentor to his troops, Hicks found himself increasing troubled not to drink while on duty, nearly slipping on more occasions than one could possibly remember. The Third War gave Hicks new focus as the Orcs returned after escaping bondage, setting him back to the field and into the fight once more.

When the Undead Scourge began plaguing grain and swelling their ranks for an invasion, Hicks found his task as a officer almost too much to handle, the Undead proving themselves to be a far more horrible a foe than the Orcs had ever managed. With the Silver Hand disbanded, Arthas' betrayal, and his own age just weighing him down too much, Hicks finally gave in and retired from service. With the war leaving him behind, and the Lich King ultimately being killed, Hicks began wondering what was to become of him now. Needing something to take his mind off of his long since dead family, Hicks decided to take up adventuring, and now wanders anywhere that seems to take his fancy.
