Alignment: Somewhere between Neutral Good and Chaotic Good. Philosophically, Heath believes in the balance between law and chaos, but his individual behavior leans toward chaos. He values friendship and loyalty over laws and formal organizations.

Appearance

Heath favors leather goods for their ability to turn a quick blade after the occasional slip of the fingers while pickpocketing. He refuses to wear anything heavier, insisting it is too noisy. He has no idea how to work with leather or make leather goods, however, because he never had an opportunity to study these things (see below). Ironically, Heath's father was a leather worker.

Personality

Heath is good-natured most of the time, and generally prefers to talk his way out of a fight (or run from one). When it is necessary to fight, for whatever reason, he prefers to do it on his own terms. "His own terms" generally means sneaking up behind his foe and getting in a good punch to the kidney before the fight starts proper. This doesn't represent him in a good light to those who put value in honor, but Heath has no interest in the honor of those who are unable to walk away from a fight. Unusual for a rogue, Heath does not drink.

Heath is a friendly guy! But, like most of his kin, he is a racist when it comes to other species, especially those aligned with the Horde. Though he deals with them from time to time in his line of work in places like Ratchet and Booty Bay, 16 years of being raised to believe they were responsible for most of the Alliance's ills is not something that is easily unlearned, and Heath is no exception. He looks upon all Horde races with deep suspicion. Also, although he was raised in Stormwind, his parents come from outside the city and accordingly had very parochial views of ALL races. Heath carries some of this influence. Other than humans, Heath is most comfortable among Dwarves, most likely due to the presence of the Dwarven quarter in Stormwind. Nonetheless, he carries some provincial ideas about other races, even Alliance ones. His narrow-mindedness in this realm is one of his deeper character flaws.

History

Heath's father worked in the same shop as his mother, combining his skills in leather with hers in cloth, but he disappeared when Heath was about five. Heath was raised by his mother. At a young age, he imagined his father dying in a grand battle for the glory of the Alliance. In his teenage years, however, his mother revealed that his father indulged in alcohol and gambling a bit more than healthy, and may have run out on his family or run away to escape a debt. Heath's father may therefore still be alive, but Heath has no interest in looking for him.

Though he will never reveal it to others, Heath is a bit of a momma's boy, and occasionally takes a break from his wandering, thieving ways to visit her in Stormwind. As a child, he often sat at her side while she was at work weaving, sewing, knitting, and mending the clothing of nobles and other well-to-do folk. Perhaps learning these things at an early age was what gave him the knack of using his fingers to pick locks and lift wallets. Heath's mother does not know he is a thief. She knows something of his roguish ways, however, and she isn't naive. Accordingly, she is a little suspicious when the "odd jobs here and there" he claims to do to make ends meet somehow procure enough gold for him to leave a little "extra" in her lockbox when she isn't looking.

Heath's mother sent him to her younger brother a few months a year, starting when he was eight, to learn the art of enchanting from him. Heath's uncle taught him a few other things, including how to pick the pockets of the occasional rich client who entered the enchanting shop (which would usually be returned to the client, enhancing Heath's uncle's reputation as a businessman of integrity and leading to an occasional reward to boot). In between lessons on enchanting (which were of a rather limited nature, truth be told), Heath learned about sneaking around in the houses of others, finding lockboxes, and picking them open. You see, his uncle was not always a "legitimate" businessman, and he had no qualms about teaching Heath his old ways and using Heath's small size as a child to line his own pockets. Finally, Heath's uncle taught him about being on the other end of a belt, being a strict man with a short temper. As Heath grew older and more aware of the ways of the world, he became increasingly resentful of this relationship. Finally, at the age of 15, he refused to go outright. Heath's uncle was killed three years later, in a barfight.

Currently, Heath is wandering the world, indeed taking on odd jobs, using his skills when and where he can to make a few extra gold, and seeking new friends and opportunities. The road in front of him includes very few certainties, and will largely be determined by the friends he makes and opportunities he encounters.
