Personality

A rather serious dwarf, Hatch has a fondness for fine ale, treasure, and good strong dwarven women. He takes his job as a navigator rather seriously, trying to find distant lands for the group to explore, as well as rival ships to plunder. His nose for treasure often gets him in trouble, however, as he has a sense for treasure but -none- for danger. He often takes the path of ignoring danger for the sake of finding the best loot.

He loves his Gryphon, and takes good care of her. He takes better care of her than he would any of his fellow crew mates. Often times, he gets defensive of her, especially when being teased about his relationship with the beast. He often says "I'd rather sleep next to my Gryphon than a naked women. Unless she's a dwarf. Then maybe I'll think about it, but any good Dwarf lass wonne be bothered by a Gryphon!"

When left to his own devices, he likes to occupy his time with reading about history, as well as learning what he can about far away lands, or ruins. In his heart, he considers himself an explorer, and always will try his best to learn everything he can about such things.

He has a fondness to seafood, as well as rum. Although, he favors beer over rum, especially a nice dwarven stout that's been lovingly made by his people.

History

Born in the Wetlands, Hatch was trained to ride Gryphons and sail. He'd grown up with his Gryphon, Tyrsirtar, who was a present from his mother on his sixteenth birthday. He spent a lot of time learning how to ride the Gryphon, as well as forming a bond with the creature that would last his lifetime. He trained for a long while on how to fight atop a gryphon, learning many techniques on rough riding as well as how to swordfight while atop one. It's something that's very impractical and unwieldy, but can come in handy if it comes up. While not on the Gryphon, he learned how to fight with short swords and daggers, as well as how to fire a rifle. The latter portion he wasn't very good at, but can competently do so as needed. He knows how to keep to the shadows and conceal himself, being somewhat of a sneaky fighter when it comes to battle. He's been known to sneak to enemy ships, crawl into them, and help take the crews out quietly in order to get the booty aboard.

He'd participated in more than a few wars, riding his Gryphon to try and take out one menace or another, or setting sail on ships. It didn't take long for him to learn what was needed aboard the ships, and his nose for treasure and astute abilities when it came to map reading and finding his direction made him a natural navigator. He became an asset to any crew, and his hard work ethic proved to be a boon for anyone he worked under.

He'd navigated for many ships, using his Gryphon riding to help him do so, and met much success in the way of finding money and locations for them, but eventually grew restless. That's when he found Roberto, and his merry group of pirates---well, I mean, "Privateers". He joined them, eventually helping them take the ship that is now called "The Endeavor", and became their navigator. Eventually, he helped them become sanctioned privateers for the Alliance.

Now he goes around with them, setting sail for adventure, and trying to chart the courses so that they might find new exotic locations, as well as treasure. He's formed a bond with the crew, while not as close as the one he has with his Gryphon it's certainly one akin to brotherhood.

Skills and Abilities

-Flight of the Navigator: Hatch is a darn good navigator. Part of the reason he is so good, is that the rides a Gryphon around to get a view of what's going on around the boat. He's apt at scouting, and for all accounts and purposes, is a very talented gryphon rider.

-Flying combat: Hatch has learned how to fight while mounted on a Gryphon. While atop one, he's able to do some basic sword fighting, as well as pretty decent at lobbing bombs at his competition. It's rather useful when trying to bombard an enemy ship, he flies over them and tosses bombs downward.

-Nose for Gold: Hatch loves treasure. His greedy nature leads him to being able to find where it's hidden. Often he can read a map, even if it's decrypted, knowing how treasure finding works naturally.
