Personality

Hantin is a Dwarf who has his mind on money and what some would consider impossible or insane business plans. He keeps a sharp eye out for any and all business opportunities, but can often be oblivious on other topics such as politics, war, and culture. Due to his rather aggressive nature when it comes to making money, Hantin doesn't actually have friends. He has business partners and useful acquaintances, but nobody he could really talk to or confide in if he ever wanted to.

He also considers himself to be one of a special group that he likes to call the "New rich." Previously, most wealthy individuals (That he knew of) were lords who attained their money through some feat of heroism in their family many generations back. The "New rich" are those upcoming people who attained their fortune through business and hard work, and who Hantin believes have more of a right to be called the elite in society than the noble families.

History

Hantin's father was a failed Prospector with a taste for women and booze (Not unlike many stereotypical Dwarves). By the time Hantin was old enough to have coherent thoughts, his father had already remarried multiple times since the young Dwarf's birth and was desperate for cash. Growing up with such a Dwarf, Hantin learned not to respect his peers, but to exploit them for personal gain and then ditch them. The Dwarven father-son pair traveled the known world together, visiting all the races and attempting to make a quick gold or two while they were there.

As Hantin approached adulthoot, he grew bored/sick/tired of his father's constant habit of squandering any gain the two of them obtained on cheap thrills, so the young Dwarf left his deadbeat father to make it on his own. After long deliberation, Hantin discovered what he thought of as the ultimate secret of wealth: One can become wealthy merely by thinking it. He studied Common thoroughly to talk like an aristocrat, and he bought a nice set of clothes with what small funds he had.

Soon enough, the cleaned-up Dwarf started his own business. He didn't particularly know what his business would do, but it was nice to have one, and people started respecting him more for it. He even started making deals! The gold was flowing into Hantin's pocket. Slowly at first, but his business was built up from there. Eventually, Hantin decided to name his made-up business after himself, and then Wiltonsteel Enterprises was born. The Dwarf's life was finally coming together.

Hantin had evaded the First and Second Wars with his father, but in the Third War he saw boundless opportunity. He bought weapons and armor from poorer blacksmiths at low prices and sold them to military groups at far higher rates. He invested in new methods of transportation like flying machines and trams. He traveled to Kalimdor to show that his business supported the troops who were fighting there as well.

In the aftermath of the Third War, Wiltonsteel Enterprises almost went under. People who he had invested in began to find out that his business didn't actually do anything, and the general attitude toward businessmen who had not fought in the war was one of contempt, which only added to his loss of support. The Steamwheedle Cartel had started ruining his efforts in Kalimdor as well. Hantin retreated from the public eye with what he had left and stayed in the city of Ironforge, waiting for a chance to recreate his wealth.

When efforts started to retake Gnomeregan (He often forgot that it had been conquered in the first place), Hantin realized that a new field of business had risen that only the governments controlled: Phlogiston fuel. The Businessdwarf set out to make deals with any military group that needed fuel, and although he wasn't always successful he tried to offer better deals than governments could. After rebuilding part of his fortune, and after a fortunate trip to southern Kalimdor which left him with a nice load of valuable crystals, Hantin expanded Wiltonsteel Enterprises once again. He is currently making as many deals and investments as possible to restore his one-man company to its former prestige.[[category: warrior]
