"L
ok'tar ogar! Victory or death - it is these words that bind me to the Horde. For they are the most sacred and fundamental of truths to any warrior of the Horde.
I give my flesh and blood freely to the Warchief. I am the instrument of my Warchief's desire. I am a weapon of my Warchief's command.
From this moment until the end of days I live and die - FOR THE HORDE!"

About The Warband

Rising from the lower ranks of the Bloodscar Defensive, an initiative meant to secure the holdings of the Horde around the Barrens with threats abroad quelled, the Redwatch Warband depends on their small numbers and tight knit group to perform missions that other, larger Warbands are unable to. In the name of the Defensive, the Redwatch Warband puts down various threats in and around the holdings of the Horde. They hold back the various Centaur clans, clip the wings of invading harpies, and hold back the ravenous Quillboar.

History of The Warband

Redwatch, like most of the Horde’s holdings on the continent of Kalimdor, has only a recent history, but deep foundations.

After the fall of the Old Horde, and the capture of the Orcs, hope seemed lost for the once proud race of Warriors. Their spirits and their bodies were shackled with the chains of the Humans, and the Lethargy brought on from the Legion. Many had given up hope; But Go’el, son of Durotan, had not. Calling on powers that many Orcs had not seen since before the Legion coerced them from their planet, the Shaman Thrall planned the mass exodus of the Orcs.

With each Camp that Thrall brought to its knees, more Orcs joined his cause. The rallying cry of the New Horde was sounded, and with due time and effort, a Horde of honour and idealism sailed across the seas to a new fate. Their promised land, Kalimdor, was not as peaceful as they may have hoped for however. The Orcs were faced with many trials, and many tribulations, among them the foundation of Orgrimmar and its surrounding outposts.

Exodus of the Horde

Here, Red Watch was formed. Set across the Southfury River, the small encampment was a scouting post and a launching pad for future Horde expansion. It held many of the Horde’s greatest warriors during a time when the push against the Centaur and Quillboar was at it’s most escalated point. In time however, the boundaries of the Horde’s holdings were pushed further, and Red Watch was forgotten. Little happened as the months and years went by, the warriors posted at Red Watch having nothing to do but stare across the Southfury at the red soil of Durotar; And so it got it’s name, from quite literally ‘Watching Red’. The name of the once-great Outpost was tarnished from years of inaction, and was eventually all but abandoned by the Horde. Several grunts and Peons held the post, in an attempt to block contraband traveling north along the waterways.

Upon his promotion to Legionnaire however, Gortan Darkblade raised the axe of his family at General Katca Bloodscar’s call to reassert the Horde’s position in the Barrens. Under the General's axe, Darkblade was able to rebuild the dilapidated Redwatch and begin hosting raids from the post once more. Conflict with the Quillboar who once mocked the base are rising as the Orcs push them back, the Centaur have reason to ready their bows as warriors return from the North, and the Harpies lay their nests higher along the cliffs of the Barrens and Durotar.

Among the Bloodscar Defensive the Redwatch Warband is unique in it's acquisition of a Wolf Unit from the Horde. Stabled next to the headquarters of the Warband is a small battalion of Wolves trained in the art of war; The Orcs of Red Watch have great respect for the beasts, which not only track the enemies of the Warband, but aid in ridding the Barrens and Durotar of them as well. The howls of the Dire Wolves can be heard from a great distance, and often spells doom for whoever they may be tracking.

The Warband was able to acquire these vital assets to their success based on past efforts in using Wolves to sniff out contraband traveling up river. With several large caches of fel items being shipped by the Burning Blade up river being intercepted, the request for more of the beasts was accepted. Their current duties include:

  1. Using their keen sense of smell to track various illegal goods being transported between the Barrens and Durotar
  2. Various intimidation tactics to subdue otherwise aggressive targets.
  3. Use in tracking
  4. Once the target has been successfully tracked, the canine(s) in question can be let loose on the individual(s).

The use of these highly trained wolves is a feat in and of itself. They are highly intelligent beings, and as such, Legionnaire Darkblade has a staff of various Hunters and Beastmasters that care for and bring the Worgs into battle.

Ranks of The Warband

With an emphasis on small groups of efficient warriors, the Redwatch Warband has no need for an official representation of rank; The warriors should each know and recognize one another, and with that, be able to discern which among them is the highest ranking officer. There is no official uniform, and no official regulations on what the members of the Warband can and cannot wear. If for some reason armor becomes a distraction, Gortan will ask that it be removed and replaced with a more appropriate set.

Promotions are determined by Gortan, but an application for a promotion may be submitted to a member of the Honorguard for evaluation by an Officer. Often times however, promotions will be given based on merit regardless of application.

  • Legionnaire: The leader of The Redwatch Warband, the Legionnaire takes orders directly from General Bloodscar. When the General's council is not available, Darkblade himself oversees every aspect of the Warband.
  • Honorguard: A commissioned officer within The Warband, though lacking the leadership powers of the Legionnaire. The Honorguard oversees day-to-day activities within the guild and may organize and lead events. They are also responsible for ensuring that members of lower rank have the rank appropriate to their season, activity, and standing. They are promoted and demoted by the Legionnaire. In-character rank varies depending on the character:
  1. First degree (Higher Rank): Blood Guard
  2. Second degree: Stone Guard
  • Sergeant: Sergeants serve as the elite units within The Warband. They have demonstrated courage, valor, and self-sacrifice on and off of the battlefield and so have been awarded with this unique rank. Veterans exhibit a selflessness and willingness to serve that embody the ideals and mission of The Horde. In-character rank varies depending on the character:
  1. First Degree: First Sergeant
  2. Second Degree: Senior Sergeant
  3. Third Degree: Sergeant
  • Grunt: Privates are an enlisted rank and are considered full-fledged members of The Warband, having both completed their initial training and indoctrination.
  • Prospect: A newly invited member of the guild. Recruits are in a temporary probationary period during which all members of good standing are invited to interact and critique them.

Rules and Regulations

In Character Rules

The Warband is a military organization. As such, we have a clearly established chain of command. You are expected to follow it. Issues should most likely be presented to your most immediate superior; if for some odd reason you are unable to do so, you may then skip a rank in the echelon. Furthermore, you will treat superiors -- officers or not -- with the respect that their rank deserves.

What you do in your own time is your business. The Warband will not dictate how you spend your free time -- or with whom you spend it. If you become friends with another member or forge a relationship, we won't care as long as you are capable of not allowing it to interfere with the unit's mission. If this becomes an issue, steps may be taken to rectify the situation -- including dismissing people from The Warband.

Out of Character Rules

We're big on respect. We know it's a server rule, but we'd like to reinforce this. You will respect your fellow Conquest of the Horde members. We're here to have fun and unnecessary complications can detract from that. Shame on you!

Note: As a note, I think a massive thanks is in order for both Immy and Piroska; Immy for bouncing ideas off of and for joining in on Katca. Piroska for the guild template that I so gratefully borrowed. Thanks again!
