Information

Player: SputnikRising

Character Full Name: Gorum Stonefist

Character In-Game Name: Gorum

Nickname(s): Over the years the name Gorum, has been shortened to Gor, which of course turned in to the nickname Gore. Gorum though, finds it almost offensive, because of the power behind his name. He'd rather die and kill with the name Gorum, and make it a name to not forget, then to be forever remembered with a nickname chosen for its connotations.

Association(s): The Horde, Garrosh Hellscream, Warsong Clan & the Old Horde

Race: Orc

Class: Hunter

Age: 53, born in the year -21

Sex: Male

Hair: Gorum has flowing black hair that is usually cloistered in two braids that are clamped down with leather binds. These two braids hang around his shoulder-blades, and flop normally when moving or riding. His facial hair, which is a matted and unkempt mane, does not hang like most orcs. Instead, this too is wrapped up into braids, which bow outwards. Gorum considers his hairstyle a necessary step because he can't have his hair interfering with the pull of his bow strings or the swing of his axe. Hair, he sometimes considers, is detrimental to battle, and all precautions should be taken to ensure this does not happen.

Eyes: One of the most distinguishing features of the demonic curse were bloodshot eyes that shone as red as Draenor itself. While many orcs have new features to help them steer clear of this tainted legacy, Gorum does not. His eyes, when enraged are red as blood, although in some lights they can appear as orange. Gorum believes that this ties him to the lineage of his fathers, and to the old Horde that he once fought for. Where many orcs have tried to separate themselves from the bloodlust that once consumed them, Gorum seems to embrace at least one aspect of it. These eyes are juxtaposed with the wide orcish nose, and the upward jutting teeth that extend from Gorum's strong jaw-line.

Weight: Different from most of the other Durotar hunters, Gorum is not as lithe and agile, preferring the stocky build of an orcish warrior. Gorum is bulky, and his frame centers on the imposing shoulders that he prefers to be fitted in armor, which allows for the appearance that they are larger then life. Hampered by this type of body, Gorum finds it necessary. Not only is size a dominant factor in orcish society, but there is no need for him to be small. As a hunter, his prey is attacked at the front by his assortment of creatures, and all that he must do is rain arrows on it from afar. The few creatures that do reach him, only find that he is no smaller then the company that he keeps.

Height: Unlike his weight, Gorum does not appear as imposing with his height. Normal, average, however one would want to chalk it up, Gorum seems to be like any other orc on the battlefield when his height comes into question. Gorum seems alright with this though, and does not monitor it as frequently as his height. Perhaps there is some advantage to it, because when he is throwing down arrows, he doesn't act as a target for ranged attacks from the opposing side.

Alignment: Neutral Evil

Appearance

Gorum does not keep a large assortment of clothing, mostly choosing between two sets: one for formalities, and one for his work. His work clothes, which he uses as armor, are strong, enforced, and mark him on the battlefield as a hunter. Choosing not to use the traditional worg's head as his mask, Gorum mostly fights without a helmet so that the enemy can see his face. As for weapons, Gorum has a bow that was given to him before the Second War, and he carries two swords that work to finish up his enemies and eviscerate any remaining adversaries. As for his relaxing clothing, he hates to wear it. When he is not in battle, he stills prefers to wear his armor, which is mostly coated in fresh blood. He finds that wearing this instills some sort of grandeur in him, which, as an orc, he prides himself in. Additionally, he feels that when he is not wearing his armor, that he is exposed. And Gorum understands that in orcish society, any sign of weakness can be taken as a need for usurpation.

Other: Gorum, as a hunter, keeps three pets in his service, along with his trusty mount. Each of the pets are given orcish names, and are used in different situations. While Gorum claims that he has no favorite, and that each serves its own purpose, he is definitely seen in the company of certain ones. The first is a gorilla named Moguna, a ferocious female that Gorum found in Un'Goro Crater. Moguna is his most recent find, and for that reason he is seen pampering her more then the rest, possibly so that he can win her favor. The next is Gesh, an Amani eagle that was taken by Gorum during the Second War. Gesh has seen many battles with Gorum and he prefers to utilize him during large scale warfare where a melee pet may not be as effective. Gesh is loyal to his master, and is also Gorum's best reconnaissance in the field. And last, but certainly not least is Kazreth, Kaz for short, which is his hyena, and closest companion. While not as old as Gesh or as imposing as Moguna, Kaz is more committed to Gorum then most servants to their masters. Kazreth, a vicious beast with a hunger for battle, can be seen as the best reflection of Gorum himself. It is not a wonder that the two have become so close.

Besides this, Gorum does not carry much. An adept survivalist, he has enough materials for cooking and fire-making, which is mostly done out of necessity for his beasts. His worg mount, Ogg, is not as close to him as he would desire, but the beast carries his loads and helps him to travel across the barren plains of Kalimdor and the ruined spires of Lordaeron. Gorum is also a poison-maker, and has learned minor abilities in leather-working in order to be able to repair his gear in the field. Gorum also has two tabards. One for the Horde, and one for the Warsong Clan that he once fought for. While he still considers Garrosh Hellscream the Horde's strongest commander, he does not prefer to count himself among the Warsong's elite.

Personality

Gorum is an orc that has been fueled by the fires of war. Barbaric and menacing, Gorum has always found his place to be in the hunt, whether he was shooting down monstrosities on Draenor, or slaughtering villagers as they attempted to flee the orcish invasions. Gorum feels that the Horde has a rightful dominion over Azeroth, whether they are serving the Burning Legion, a puppet leader, or Thrall. Gorum has no love for Thrall, and feels that the slave has never seen the true power of the Horde. Instead, Thrall is restrained and fearful, and will never lead the orcish people to the future that was promised to Gorum on Draenor by leaders of the Old Horde. Instead, Gorum feels the closest kinship to Garrosh Hellscream, who is a spitting image of his late father. Grommash, who led the Warsong to victory after victory, and even killed a demon, would have been the best leader of the Horde, and Gorum feels that even Thrall betrayed the veteran and helped to lead to his death. Garrosh, who is tempered and war-mongering, is the only leader that can bring the orcs to what they deserve.

Gorum is not an outright racist but prefers only the company of orcs, trolls, and occasionally a Tauren. He is distrustful of the Elves, especially after they killed so many orcs during the Second War, and finds that any conspiring with them should be considered treasonous and seditious to the orcish cause. Forsaken too in his eyes are only an extension of humanity, and their recent activities at the Wrathgate only added sparks to his timber-pile. Gorum is angered easily, and will not take anything that he considers to be an affront to the orcs, or more importantly, himself. His jaded honor is found in slaughtering those that he finds inferior, and he will sink to real lows in order to obtain information from captured enemies. Gorum acts to his own ends, and will only fight when there is a benefit to it. Killing for sake of killing, no matter how enjoyable, is not how is mind works.

History

Gorum was born on the red world of Draenor, only a few years before the Rise of the Horde. As the Blood Curse ravaged his people, Gorum found himself drunk on the power, even as a youngster. When he took his family name, Gorum found himself ready to fight. Stonefist, which was given to his father because of an incident involving a dead ogre, seemed like a fitting title for the blossoming orc. On Draenor, Gorum witnessed the fracturing of his people into clans and the massacres of the Draenei people. Gorum, who was only a child, found himself immune from the destruction, even though he craved it. Training for battle, tested constantly, Gorum seemed able as a warrior. With the rise of the Shadow Council, and the civil wars plaguing the orcish people, an outlet needed to be found. Thankfully for the orcs, the portal was opened to Azeroth, and the First War began.

Gorum, even though he was old enough, found himself still in Draenor. His father, who fought for Grommash Hellscream and the Warsong Clan, kept him by his side and by the clan's. Gorum, angered by this lack of war, emptied his efforts into learning about weaponry, and eventually found himself adept with a bow. Forsaking his duties as a warrior, Gorum attempted to become a hunter, which he thought would provide him with the best of both worlds. Not only could he bend beasts to his will, but he could also kill as easily with a blade as with his arrows. During the Second War though, Gorum's father could not keep him contained. Although the Warsong clan stayed mostly near the Dark Portal, Gorum traveled north, seeking a battle that he felt he must fight.

Fighting with the Horde through Khaz Modan, Quel'thalas, and Lordaeron, Gorum soon found his quenching thirst for blood answered. Unfortunately, the Blood Curse could not be contained, and Gorum feasted on the orgies of violence that erupted as soon as the Horde engaged the combined might of the Alliance. Eventually though, the Horde was betrayed, and their capture of Capital City no longer seemed assured. The Alliance, regrouped and successfully repelled the invasion, pushing them back. The orcs that were not captured, tried to make their way back to the ruined kingdom of Stormwind and the remaining orcish forces. Thankfully for Gorum, this meant returning to the Warsong. And, while many clans were rounded up into internment, the Warsong became the new instrument for Ner'zhul. Outrunning elven scouts, the Warsong entered Azeroth time and time again to capture relics for the elder shaman's purposes. And, when the Alliance Expedition entered Draenor, the Warsong seemed the most distinguished clan to fight them. But, they were betrayed once again, and in the fragmentation of their world, Grom, along with the rest of the Warsong, stepped through into Azeroth to a much more uncertain future.

Gorum was one of these soldiers, and when it came time to live a life of seclusion in Lordaeron, Gorum obliged. But, his tenacity stuck with him. Whenever Alliance scouts were found, Gorum could not keep their existence a secret, preferring to risk capture to butcher the enemies of the Horde. For more then a decade the Warsong eked out this life, unable to really press for more as the Horde was weak and lethargic. Then, came the arrival of Thrall, the meeting with Orgrim Doomhammer, and Grom's commitment to the New Horde. Gorum, hopeful that his chieftain would be granted the title of Warchief, was angered when it was given to the perceived weakness of Thrall. Despondent, Gorum realized that in orcish tradition, treachery was still an option, and Grom's day would come. Along with the Warsong, Gorum sailed to Kalimdor, seeking a better life. It was there that Gorum first met the noble Tauren, and found them as able-bodied warriors. The trolls, whom Gorum had fought alongside before, had also befriended this new army that Gorum felt the Warsong would lead.

And it was during this time that Gorum felt at peace. Grom, angered with the Alliance in the area continually attacked them, and the respite that Gorum had endured was now over. Thrall, furious, exiled Grom to Ashenvale, where the war continued, this time against a fierce and new entity. But, the beast proved no match for Grom, and the blood of Mannoroth only continued to revitalize the Horde. It was at this time that Thrall allied with the Alliance, which angered Gorum immensely. It was not a wonder that many of the Warsong sided with Grom and the demons. And although Gorum killed both human and orc alike, he could never ally himself with a human. The pinkskins were weak, and the orcs were destined for power. That was the mantra that Gorum believed, and always would. With the curse free though, Gorum still found himself bound to battle. Hyjal came and went, and Gorum found himself believing that the Legion was defeated upon the backs of the orcs. Even though Thrall was inept, Gorum followed him into Durotar, and began rebuilding.

It is a wonder that Gorum has lived so long with the battles that he has faced, and it was no exception when Daelin Proudmoore invaded the fledging orcish nation after the Third War. But, in a fashion that Gorum knew too well, Thrall once again allied with the humans, when Gorum knew that the Orcs could defend Kalimdor themselves. It came as little surprise years later that upon discovering Garrosh Hellscream in Outland and the Mag'har, that Gorum flocked to his camp. Gorum, who had only known war and violence, plunged himself yet again in Outland, where he still spends most of his time. An aging veteran, who sits mostly at the tavern in Thrallmar, Gorum waits for the day that his talents will be needed again. Northrend? Gorum feels that the Lich King is a minor inconvenience, and he'd rather be in the company of real Draenor orcs then the new Horde that Thrall has built. Gorum though has been seen in Warsong Hold, serving Garrosh Hellscream, who Gorum knows will one day bring the Horde the glory that Gorum knows they are capable of.
