A sharpened and glistening rapier dangles at his side, and his shined boots glisten from the lamp posts in Stormwind at night.

Alignment: Undetermined

Appearance

Gerhardt conceals scars that cover his body by hiding his person with thick leather armor and a heavy cloak. He may have once been a handsom sight, but he is not now. He is seen with an eyepatch over one eye or a dark hood concealing half of his face. He wears dark clothing to better slip into the shadows, and heavy gloves conceal his hands.

During times of intense prayer, Gerhardt can bee seen in red robes and a red hood, his eyepatch barely visible, but apparent none-the-less).

Personality

Gerhardt is an unpredictable fellow. He can maintain a calm demeanor, but he becomes violent if pushed too far. A man who holds a grudge, he does everything that he can to ensure that vengeance is served. He never smiles, and when he does, the situation is never optimistic for what he's smiling about. Gerhardt is an extremely cold and rude person and is rumored to be seen with a flask of Caraway Burnwine on a frequent basis. He rarely speaks unless he feels he has something important to say, though few have claimed to have seen him muttering to himself.

History

Born in Old Town, Stormwind, to a family of street beggars, Gerhardt lived a rough and miserable childhood of thieving and run-ins with the law. At the age of nineteen he eagerly joined the Stormwind army and received his commission four years later. He was revered in his detachment for his exceptional bravery in battle and his quick wit in commanding troops. At 35 he was captured by the Scarlet Crusade during a patrol through Lordaeron and endured captivity for three years in the Scarlet Monastery before he escaped and was then promptly taken prisoner by the Forsaken as he passed by the Undercity. At the age of 40, he was finally released in a prisoner-exchange agreement. It took him over a year to recover from his wounds and malnourishment. He rarely speaks of what went on for those five years, chiefly his time in the Scarlet Monastery, but even then, he refuses to go into details; and the scars on Gerhardt's body are evidence enough for what he must have endured.

Two years ago, retired from the army as a Knight-Captain at forty-two, Gerhardt began to write a number of theses and essays on the corruption of the Scarlet Crusade and the errors within the Church of Holy Light. He was imprisoned for these writings temporarily, but was released because of his military background. Since then, Gerhardt has slipped "underground." He is seen in public, but has only been beginning to restart his public political theological activities with a Lordaeronian paladin. The Church has a close eye on him, and the Scarlets have a bounty on his head. Yet, despite his activities and his history, Gerhardt keeps his eye on the future, and knows that his perseverance will, hopefully someday, result in the reformation of the theological order of the Church of Light and the banishment of the Scarlet Crusade from the lands of Azeroth.

Ironically, Gerhardt's adherence to sacrifice and duty has begun to blind his mental state. As he ages, so too do his experiences haunt him, and he is increasingly becoming more zealous in his activities. Vehemently opposed to the Church hierarchy, but not to the Church and its ideals, Gerhardt is frequently becoming obsessed with hunting down enemies of the Light itself; Demons, witches, warlocks, undead, and any heresy that might arise. His vision clouded by an eyepatch and his mental state solidifying to unknown degrees, Gerhardt is on the prowl, as a witch hunter, for those that threaten the values he so solemnly swears to defend.
