Personality

Overall a fairly mild-mannered Dwarf. Jovial, happy and a lover of life, she enjoys games, humour and socialising. A staunch believer in pragmatism and darwinism (perhaps better referred to as survival of the fittest in the Warcraft universe), she sees the harsh, unforgiving world as a proving ground to separate oneself from the pack. Though she believes in 'judge the person, not the race', she often judges people for things out of their control. A good example being her unanimous wariness, distaste and dislike for Orcs. She enjoys the company of Humans and Gnomes, despite their two races having little in common unlike her cold-dwelling cousins. She, like many of her kind, is similar to the Kaldorei and appreciates their natural skill and lifestyle. She finds them a bit stuffy and proud to be friends with, but she definitely enjoys their company from time to time. She's yet to speak to a Draenei, and finds them somewhat intimidating.

At the forefront, a generally rather happy Dwarf who enjoys the company of her bear as much as a fellow sentient being. She is at home in the wilds, but is happy to take vacations. A furious defender of the sanctity of nature, Frieyis dislikes the arcane and heavy technology, though not to the extent a traditionalist Night Elf might.

Despite the coldness and dislike her kind holds for Bronzebeards, and the same reversed, she respects Ironforge Dwarves for their skill in technology and metalwork. While she wouldn't use a gun herself, she finds the subject interesting. She is also a sucker for Bronzebeard ale, which sways her opinion considerably. She, of course, despises the Dark Irons.

History

Frieyis was born near Aerie Peak. Her father had left her mother not long after Frieyis was conceived and was not present at the birth. Her mother, Breyneir, a somewhat eccentric hunter-gatherer, tended to her through her infant life with undying love and care. Raising the child alone was difficult, but she received aid from her neighbours and was successful in protecting and caring for the child.

Frieyis was introduced to the wilds at a young age. Her mother would take her along on gathering trips when Frieyis was as young as six or seven. She took to the forests like a fish to water, and was eager to lean from her mother and follow after her natural ways. She was taught about plants and their uses, about using the wilds to sustain oneself and about the myriad of beasts native to the forest, and using a bow; after all, her and her mother were essentially living in the wilderness with the position of their home. It is important to learn to protect oneself.

Though money was scarce, food was always on the table. Frieyis' time as a child shaped her to disregard materialism and favour sharing the natural world with all; as it does for her. She lived in harmony with the forest and her occasional meetings with the fabled Gryphon Riders, the mystical Shaman and the masterful Hunters were entirely positive. Her mother had taught her well in these times and she was accepted into society. At least, when she entered it.

Frieyis had seen twelve summers pass when the news reached of her cousins in Khaz Modan being attacked. Of course, she was but a child then and played no part in the war, but many of the Wildhammers did go to aid the Bronzebeards - particularly the legendary Gryphon Riders and their victories over the enslaved Red Flight. It was barely two months into the fight when her mother received news that her ex-lover, Frieyis' father had died in battle against a dragon. Heroically, the letter had said. Breyneir did not hesitate in letting her daughter know, but Frieyis was much less bothered than her mother. After all, she had never even spoken to the man.

Frieyis continued her semi-solitary life into her teenage years, her connection with the forest strengthened past simply appreciation; Frieyis had lived off of the wilds for her entire life thus had it to thank for more than simple sustenance. She begun to want to aid the forest, and protect it from outsiders and defilers. She had heard tales of Goblins and the Dark Irons, and expressed intent to fight them. Her faith in the forest and her need to protect allowed her to tap into the druidic magic employed by a few of her clan mates. She gained the ability to bless her arrows mid-flight, to take on aspects of different animals and mimic them slightly and to create magical traps. Many told her to fully pursue the path, but she was happy with her bow and was secretly self-doubting enough to shy away from the path.

Approximately eight years ago, Frieyis was patrolling the forest as normal. She was on the prowl for some meat to bring back to Aerie Peak for coin, and had spotted a large patriarchal bear. Her recent successes had bred an arrogance within the adolescent Dwarf, and she thought she could fell the beast. Tracking the ursine to a secluded clearing, she perched behind a rock and drew an arrow to her bow. Taking a deep breath, she popped from her cover and let fly, blessing the arrow with nature magic mid-flight. Yet, the bear heard the commotion and with a roar, he batted away the attack with ease. Bursting into a lumbering charge, he rushed toward Frieyis with intent to harm, and the Dwarf was not prepared. Assuming death was at her doorstep, she panicked and froze. The bear pinned her with ease, and, raising his colossal jaws for a final blow, let out a deafening roar. Frieyis screwed her eyes shut in fear and dread, yet no bite came. Tentatively opening her eyes, she found the bear inspecting her curiously. Relenting his grip on her, he snorted loudly and lumbered into the shadowy trees.

It was at least a week before Frieyis went back into the forest, and despite ensuring her mother she was at peace, she was very much the opposite. Fear gripped her mind and caused her to jump at the smallest movement. She decided to travel only a stone's throw into the forest and bring some game home. Yet, her jumpiness and anxiety had caused the same affect that her arrogance had but a few mere days ago. She fumbled the shot, and the arrow flew past her quarry, a large stag, and off into the trees. With a curse, she turned to run, but no Dwarf can outrun a furious stag, and prey-turned-predator caught with her in seconds and was bearing down on her. The forest can only spare her once, she thought, and accepted her fate as out of her control. Yet, once again, the forest did save her. An ear-splitting bellow burst from the side and threw off the stag. From the bushes to the side burst a great ursine beast who knocked the comparatively small stag to the ground and ended its life with his snapping jaws. Frieyis was speechless, and stared at the bear in bewilderment and fear; surely she was next on the menu. Yet, the bear trotted up to her and sniffed her, his fierce eyes seeming soft in the touching moment. The two sat in silent conversation for many hours after this moment, Frieyis slowly regaining her coherence.

Returning with a new companion that she had dubbed Draig'cyfail in honour of his bravery, Frieyis apologized profusely to her mother who had been worried sick and returned to her normal life, complete with a new companion.

It was only seven years ago when Frieyis was pulled from the forests and had her first taste of war. Travelling with a few of her other clan members to the sea. She travelled across the great sea by boat - an experience she vows to never repeat- and made her way to Hyjal to defend the world tree. She battled with the Elves and saw the Legion; though she had tales and stories about them, but witnessing the endless horde for herself made her fully realise the threat. She spent around a month recuperating with the Elves after Archimonde's, before taking some time to travel Northern Kalimdor and learn from their druidic ways.

Frieyis made her way back to Aerie peak once again, and spent a while resting and spending some time as she had spent the previous years of her life. Though she had hated the event, the war had planted the seed of adventure within her and she felt the desire to travel more. She bade farewell to her mother and set off into the world.
