Personality

Flint is a dwarf. He's as stubborn as a rock, but can still spark a healthy temper - true to his name. Irascible, obstinate, and indignant, and a bit ornery and cranky about his age. He oft comes off as gruff, stating that he couldn't give a rat's ass. He blames everyone else for his problems, no matter how minuscule, and has no qualms voicing his opinions.

Despite his demeanor, Flint is, at heart, a very caring dwarf. He hides his heart behind a wall of gruffness, but once a bond is formed, he (secretly) cares for his friends. He is, in many ways, a grandfatherly figure.

The old dwarf has a few hobbies. Not even Paladinship could keep Flint away from his beloved flask of dwarf spirits. He has his own stash of the stuff, keeping some in a flask on his belt at all times. He says the fiery liquid rejuvenates him, bringing some warmth into his old bones. Flint also enjoys creating things with his hands - there's usually a block of wood tucked into his belt along with a carving knife. He loves whittling the wood into different shapes, forming magnificent carvings. He is, for some reason, deathly afraid of water and heights

History

Born and raised in the grand stone halls of Ironforge, Flint will always have a home under the mountain, and will always feel at home whenever he finds himself below the surface of the earth. He was too young to participate in the War of the Three Hammers, and was thus holed up in the mountain kingdom when danger threatened. His few older sibling were of age, however, and died in battle against the Dark Irons. Flint was too young to remember much of the incident. A now-only son coming from a long line of miners and prospectors, Flint knew that he would inherit a mass of wealth accumulated over centuries of work. After his father died of heart complications, Flint decided to use some his inheritance to help him become more than a humble prospector. Purchasing a set of armor and the hammer that he still uses to this day, Flint set out to both train in combat as well as explore mountainous Khaz Modan.

After myriad years of honing skills, traversing the peaks and valleys of Khaz Modan, and simply enjoying life, Flint was more than happy to answer the call to battle in the First and Second wars in order to smash in a few greenskin skulls. After the First War, he was one of the few dwarves to offer his hand in joining the Order of the Silver Hand. This cemented the old dwarf's faith in the Light, and planted him dead in the center of human society and culture.

During his time as a Knight, he reluctantly befriended some Knights of the younger generation. As a grandfatherly figure, Flint saw those young Knights almost as grandchildren, and deemed that needed taking care of - they would never get along without him. Ironically, those Knights perished during the Scourge of Lordaeron, and Flint could do nothing to save them. Hurt, the old dwarf retreated to the shelter of Ironforge to nurture his wounds of the heart and otherwise. Flint withdrew from the Order and spent a number of years in solitude in a secluded part of the mountain, blaming himself for the deaths of his companion Knights. It was with a heavy heart that the old dwarf finally emerged, deciding to put the past behind him and enjoy what little time he had left. He set out to explore and adventure once again.
