Personality: In life Ezra was compassionate and happy. He lived for life, most simply. He did what he want, when he wanted to do it, at least before he settled down. He was a magi of Silvermoon, killed in the attack by the Scourge on the Sunwell. Because of this, he feels his life was not well lived, and takes this life as a second chance granted by his 'glorious master'. He follows Astus unquestioningly, and though he is not treated as a slave, more-so a companion, Ezra feels a bit of resentment for Astus that he would never share. He doubts whether his second life is normal, or whether or not it is fair to those already dead. He never sleeps or eats, but has a habit of drinking wine just to keep at least a single shred of his former high-class self.

History

Ezra grew up normally, he had a few brothers and sisters, but they never really factored into the equation. As the eldest, he was born back when the elves were still high elves. He was a high elf magister, training under an archmage at the time in hopes of being given the title himself. His life was cut short however, as the Scourge invaded Quel'thalas. Sent to the front lines he was killed quickly and painlessly (mostly painlessly) by a flesh giant kick. The scourge meatwagons rolled by, and his corpse was added to the pile.

It was taken away to the necromancers, where his body was reanimated as a ghoul. The new beast known as Fleshcutter served the Scourge for many years, participating mindlessly in many of the conquests and battles. He was eventually slain by an adventurer, though the adventurer later died from burns. The ghoul had the strange quality of being able to cast spells, even in its undead state, as most spellcasters did if they were forced into undeath.

Later, a necromancer by the name of Astus found him. He was surprised, recognizing the man as his Uncle Ezra. He immediately took the body from the pile in Duskwood, spiriting it away to the catacombs where he began to preform dark rites over the cadaver. He imbued the claws with plague, mended the bones and flesh as best he could, then began to scribe runes all over the body. He gave it the means to bolster intelligence and stave off decay, but the inscriptions also allowed Astus full control over the body and mind, easier at least. The means to keep him bound would still be difficult, increasingly so with the amount of free will he intended for it. This minion would be special, the self-energizing runes allowing it to travel far and make conclusions without direct orders, and to thrive when Astus did not, although that might have simply been a theory. The minion might survive, but it might also go mad from the sudden loss of the guiding presence and commit suicide. Astus then began to channel energy into the corpse, calling forth a gateway into the realm of the dead, he brought the soul back. The powerful wraith struggled against Astus for quite a while before being subdued. Astus sighed, looking down at the corpse as its eyelids fluttered, a lucid violet glow crackling forth before overpowered with a thick cerulean mist.
