History

Estavan was the only son to the unmarried Kaliergo Romero and Tivinia Cruz. His mother had frequented dockside bars often, and he was her first. He grew up in the Cruz family, working the only fishing boat the family had owned. Now he was a bastard, but that title, no matter how it was spoken, never really effected him. He got along with the Cruz family well enough, even his own half-brother Dominic.

At age fourteen he learned of his father, who was a commander in the Tirasian navy, commanding the ship 'The Wayward Watcher', a frigate with quite the reputation of its sorties in the Second war. Estavan was in awe of his father, and had tried to meet with him. But Kaliergo was not a man to speak with boys who claimed to be his son. Disappointed, Estavan would return to his life as a fisher-boy, waiting until he could join the navy. That chance came a bit early.

Dominic and Estavan were far from the coast of their small town when a small group of naga had attacked. Naga had always been a problem for the Tirasians, and they knew the troubles of being this far out. The two of them attempted to fight off the small band of naga but there was no way they could succeed. Estavan had slain a single myrmidon with a harpoon, but was soon knocked off the boat by another of the raiding party. Estavan struggled to stay conscious under the water, fighting for his life. Dominic was ensnared by a naga enchantress, and was almost doomed to death by a trident when a Tirasian brigantine, named 'The Light's Crucible', interrupted the soon to be slaughter with the cracks of rifles, killing two of the raiders. The rest fled under the water, taking Dominic with them, he would have died were it not for a well-timed shot from an officer of the ship. The both of them were dragged back onto the ship.

After their recovery they signed on with the navy and the first ship they served on was the very ship that saved them. From there the two of them moved around from ship to ship, finally being landed on 'The Winter Winds'. The Winter Winds was a ship meant for exploring, and thus that is what it did. It went around the Eastern Kingdoms and even further to explore the lands still shrouded in myth. Dominic and Estavan and the ship found quite a few undiscovered islands, few had any worth upon them. From this journey though he began to learn useful skills as an explorer and a navigator. He was also apart of the groups that were sent to explore these islands.

When Estavan was twenty-one years old, the Third war begun and the two were assigned to one of the first frigates to go to battle, The Wayward Watcher. There he actually met his father, and began to talk with the man. He learned much about his father on that journey from Kul'tiras to Lordaeron, but that was all he would learn. The Wayward Watcher was one of the first ships to sink on the coasts of Lordaeron, and did very little to contribute to the war effort. The ship had sustained heavy damage from the Scourge, just like much of the fleet. Commander Kaliergo went down with the ship, dead before the hull shattered and crumbled.

When he and Dominic had returned to Kul'tiras after the failure that was the Lordaeronian front they were stationed on the next fleet heading to Kalimdor, to chase after Jaina. When they had landed he was with one of the many groups which were tasked to go explore the unknown lands while the rest of the navy began to set up fortifications. They had more than one fight with the orcs along the way. He saw much of the coast of Kalimdor and even strayed inland when commanded, all to find Jaina. They had ended up straying far from the events of Theramore and Tiragarde keep. When they were on their return they found it in ruins.

When the second wave of Tirasians had retaken Tiragarde they joined in on the defense, but the news of Daelin's death struck Estavan hard. He had never known his king, but he respected the mans decisions, until he had learned about all that had transgressed. He deserted. Stowed away on the first ship out of Tiragarde, leaving Dominic in the dark.

On the ships return to Kul'tiras they were attacked by a brigantine, 'The Endeavor'. Pirates had always been a thorn in Kul'tiras' side, and living up to their reputation they attacked the ship. The Tirasians were overpowered and they lost the ship. The stern choice was given to all of them. "Join us for fortune and freedom, or drown in the deep oceans."

Estavan joined the crew of The Endeavor and renounced all loyalties to Kul'tiras. And there he has been, on the Endeavor, raiding ships for fortune and freedom, slowly rising among the ranks until he became the first mate, under captain Roberto.
