Appearance

Elle is a wretched thing, wearing little more than rags to cover herself. Being a corpse, she's obviously in a very poor physical state, with large gashes and open wounds riddled over her form. Parasitic bloodworms can be spotted slithering within her body on the occasion they pass these wounds, should one be unfortunate enough to notice. Her hair is a mess, as the ghoul obviously hasn't the faintest care for her appearance.

Personality

Beyond flashes of memories and the occasional quirk, there really isn't much left of the Night Elf's personality. Elle's like most ghouls, simpleminded. Her reactions are mostly left to instinct, and beyond obeying her mistress' commands, she's hasn't much motive to do anything. She has an affectionate relationship to the Death Knight Pol, referring to her as "Sister", instead of "Mistress" and acting more like a younger sibling than a servant. She's easily scared by loud noises and quick movements, though in the heat of battle she's reliable like any other ghoul. Her vocabulary is limited, though her intelligence isn't much below that of a living being.

History

Ellemayne, or Astera Evenstride as she was called in life, was born roughly four hundred years prior to the Third War, in present day Felwood. She was a healthy child, bright and strong, and spent her childhood playing in the forests and climbing in trees - as well as learning to hunt from her mother. It didn't take her long to find her place amongst the Sentinels when she came of age. She served her people with all the enthusiasm and dedication that can be expected of a youthful Sentinel for decades of peace, until tidings of war reached her ear. She was sent south to the edge of the Barrens, to face the new threat of green-skinned outsiders who were deforesting the southernmost parts of Ashenvale.

She fought the Orcs ferociously, but despite her determination she couldn't do anything to stop the onslaught of the Orcs. They intruded deeper and deeper into Ashenvale, and nothing seemed to stop them. Even the demigod Cenarius fell to the Orcish invaders, and she saw no way out but to escape. She fled with many of her Sisters, to the north. There she remained, while the Orcs ravaged her beloved forests, until it was too was shameful to do anything else but to return south. What met her was years of harsh warfare, filled with triumphs and disasters alike. It seemed it would never end, and so she believed right until the day when she was killed and left to rot by the Orcs.

Only she didn't rot. A Death Knight of her kind by the name of Pol chose her corpse and raised her from the dead. The ordeal broke the poor thing's mind, and she was risen to a confusing, new unlife. As a ghoul, her wits dimmed and she became wild and feral, prone to irrational outbursts of anger, fear or amusement. Some sense of loyalty towards her new mistress grew in her too, though, and the Death Knight seemed the only one capable of keeping the wretched creature in check.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ghoul's Guile: With her raising as a ghoul, Elle's developed a predatory swiftness and cunning, reminiscent of a wild beast. In addition to this, her undead state renders her body stronger and her pain threshold higher than that of most living creatures. Capable of running great distances and taking a large amount of damage without faltering, she can be a deadly foe... If given direction by someone with a head on their shoulders.
  • Serve the Hive: Within the confines of her body, Elle keeps a nasty surprise. A group of bloodworms have made their home within her bowels. While sometimes they emerge to feed on unsuspecting victims in the midst of battle, they primarily rely on her to eat for them, driving her towards cannibalism, like most ghouls are prone to. However, the uncanny part is that if the meat can't sate the hunger of the bloodworms... She will.
