Personality

He's always trying to help, even if it causes him harm. His transformation into a death knight didn't change anything, him living through it helped keep emotions in. If you talked to him first, rather than judge him for being a death knight, you'll find him to be way nicer than he looks. This changes whenever he see's slavers and people who kill others for fun. As soon as he see's it, it would be best to change your ways fast, because he'll do everything in his power to change it if you don't. There are also times where he seems depressed and just angry, which is usually because he thinks of those people close to him that were killed. He's never like that for long, but it's enough to ruin a day for him.

History

He was once a Blood Knight, like most blood elf paladins. He joined them not long after they came together, devoting his life to fighting for them. His father, Zelidoz, was killed by the Scourge, then raised as a ghoul in front of him. He cut him down, this adding to his hate towards the Scourge.

One day while he was off on a mission, he obtained a student by the name of Rathien Sunblade, whom he trained until he himself joined the Blood Knights. He was almost like a brother to him, he would go out of his way to do some things for him. With his training method, he hoped his student would one day be more powerful than him, he held onto that dream everyday after he met him.

Months later, Ecthelion was given a mission of taking a group of Blood Knights to the Plaguelands to check out some increase in activity. He obeyed, and his group left. When they got to their destination, they found out the Scourge had known and prepared for their arrival. Ecthelion ordered them to defend and do whatever possible to survive and escape. This didn't work, as most of the group was cut down and raised to fight again.

Eventually, Ecthelion was left alone against the undead, his former allies now raised in undeath. He braced himself, but no undead stepped up to him. As he was about to attack those in front of him, the undead made a hole, and two death knights walked into where he was. “Heh, he want's this thing alive? He really -has- lost it.” Ecthelion only shouted back, “I'd rather die than be captured by you wretches.” With that, he empowered himself and charged, only to be put down by both of them. He fought with all he had, but it wasn't enough, he was still ultimately defeated, but not killed. The last thing he could remember before losing consciousness was a plate boot rising, then he passed out.

Over the next months, his body was twisted until finally, he was melded into a death knight, whose purpose was to do the Lich King's wishes. He did not get his will until after the battle of Light's Hope Chapel, that's when everything hit him. He remembered the innocents he killed, the wrong he did. He was ready to out himself, until he heard about the Ebon Blade. Directly after the battle, he helped with purging the Scourge from Acherus, thus commiting himself to the Ebon Blade.

Over the next few years, he worked with the Ebon Blade until it was time to assault the Icecrown Citadel. From the forces that attacked, he could be seen on the front lines, cutting down any Scourge he got close to. Many people in the assault lost their lives, some being his friends, others being people he just knew.

Now that the Lich King is dead, Ecthelion has set out to find his old student and confront him. He wants him to know exactly what happened to him, and why he didn't tell him sooner. The one thing he doesn't want to happen is him and Rathien becoming mortal enemies...
