History

Durik was born in Warsong lands in Draenor soon after the war with the Draenei ended. His father who had made a name in the war, trained his son in the arts of combat from an early age. Besides hunting and helping his father sustain the family, Durik has been receiving hammer combat training, as it was the weapon his father was most skilled with. As the Om'riggor was approaching, he crafted a stone mallet specially for the occasion. He had successfully passed the rite of Om'riggor and was deemed a full member of the clan, just two months before the portal was opened.

Wielding his stone hammer,he boldly ventured into Azeroth. He participated in a few smaller skirmishes with the humans, along with the major battle of Sunny Glades, where he got severely wounded by a mage. He spent the rest of the war recovering, only leaving the camp to participate in the sacking of Stormwind, though not reaching the city in time.

Six years later he found himself in Lordaeron battling humans in the Second War. Here he didn't partake in any large battles except the one in Arathi. During the retreat he was captured by humans as a prisoner of war.

He hath spent four years in an internment camp, before a revolt broke out, allowing many orcs to flee the camp that day. Some have fallen by the hands of the guards, including some friends Durik has made there, which only amplified the hatred for humans that Durik was slowly harnessing.

Stranded on a hostile world, in which every sentient being that has developed a civilization is out to get him, Durik was barely managing to survive. Living of the land, forming small survival groups with other orcs, being hunted by men, dwarves and elves Durik was slowly gaining combat proficiency.

This has captured the attention of a goblin merchant, who had recognized Durik as an able bodied individual and hired him as a body guard/mercenary. For several years Durik had served under the goblin, doing tasks until one day the goblin decided to make an investment in his employee. The goblin hired his cousin to train the young orc into weapon perfection, and thus Durik's duelist training began.

His training was rather extended, stretching to almost a year as Durik still had to complete a great number tasks for his employer. Upon the completion of his training the goblin chose to award Durik with a well forged weapon, a new war hammer. Durik named this weapon the Fang and he carried it with pride.

In the meantime the goblins business was blossoming. The number of his employees was rising, he had opened a small factory and had a few shops across the continent. Becoming prideful in his success, the goblin just wanted more and more, soon turning to more shadier business.

At first, Durik accepted these new kinds of missions, assassinations, abductions, slave trade and pillaging, until one day he got a mission to slay a leader of a small band of orcs holding resistance against a human fort somewhere in Hillsbrad. This came with a refusal, and from that day Duriks and goblins good relationship has been vanishing slowly, soon descending into hatred.

It culminated when one day Durik came across an elderly shaman, who spoke to him about the orcish heritage. This reminded him of his father greatly, and he remembered the ideals that his father had passed down to him. He become fed up with unhonorable affairs of his employer, and after a verbal confrontation with him, the orc slew the goblin with the weapon goblin has crafted by his own hands.

After this he joined the new slowly rising Horde under the young war chief Thrall and rejoined his clan, the Warsongs, under the leadership of Grom Hellscream, and renamed his hammer the Warsong Fang. Participating in a number of conflict with humans, he had earned himself a new name, Bloodhammer.

Durik Bloodhammer, son of Tyrn Stonehammer, grunt of the Warsong clan joined the exodus, sailing away with Thrall to the unknown lands of Kalimdor. He was one of the few that remained by the shore during the Darkspear excursion, yet he boldly charged in the front lines during conflicts in Kalimdor. He was assigned to remain in the main bulk of the Horde led by Thrall, thus avoiding drinking the blood of Manaroth, like most of his kinsman in the Warsong.

The battle of mount Hyjal has lessened his hate for the race of men, though it was fueled again during the conflicts following the establishment of Durotar. Years after the war , Durik spent aiding the Warsong Outriders in Ashenvale.
