Drarry is cocky, arrogant and downright evil. Yet, he acts polite and kisses ass where it needs to be kissed. A run of the mill businessgnome.
History
Drarry Longbottom. He is a young businessman, a scholar and a gentleman. From his humble beginnings he set out with a ambitious goal; To become rich. To become filthy rich.
What is known about his not so recent past is that he started out as a fish salesman in Gadgetzan. It was a difficult profession especially where he was located. If it was a hot day, the sales merchandise would be ruined before they are transported from the seashore to Gadgetzan. Not to mention the bandits and pirates. And the taxes that the goblins enforce upon businessmen. Also, sand. Sand -everywhere-.
Not much is known of those times but one thing is certain; During his years as a fish merchant, Drarry learned that the honest way of doing business is not the way to become rich. The poor gnome dressed in rags working sixteen hours a day, earned a few coppers per day. It went on for two years, until one day, Drarry did not show up to his fish stand. . . Anyone who knew him expected the obvious, he had killed himself. Drarrys friends miss him and then they forgot him...
...Years later...
It is a lovely sunny day in Stranglethorn Vale and the goblin town Booty Bay, busy as ever, bathes in the sunlight. Pirates, poor beggars, slaves, slave traders, gold diggers are just some of the types you can find in Booty Bay and as some of them go about their day, a few can be found at the dock, gazing out to the sea, waiting for something.
A ship approaches. It is the mid afternoon vessel from Ratchet, Barrens. Bringing eager travelers to the infamous and shady goblin town. Eager Travelers, also known as fresh meat by the locals of Booty Bay. As it glides over the surface of the Great Sea, it comes ever closer until it finally casts ropes over the side and is declared docked. Passengers are welcomed into Booty Bay. A mass of people exit the the vessel. Some mounted on steeds, some carrying massive bags of personal possessions, both types of course being spotted out by the thieves, robbers and pirates of Booty Bay. Admist this mass of tourists walks a childlike figure, a very small gnome. He wears a large stetson on his head and walks slowly, pacing himself in a very adult manner. He is wearing golden rings on his silk glove encased fingers and a suit designed by Haris Pilton herself. This is no poor gnome. On his feet there are boots made out of the rarest crocodile skin and the piece of resistance, a jewel studded atop the thin, very sleek marble cane that he uses to pace himself.
Drarry Longbottom has re-emerged.
This is what is known of Drarrys not-so-recent past. His adventures in Booty Bay are on the contrary all too well known by the locals. From the first day forward Drarry set out to scout the town for its potential and boy, he did find it. For Drarry was keen on opening a casino, a vile den of gambling and ale right there in Booty Bay. But not just any Casino, Azeroths first Casino on a boat, and he would call it; 'Daddy' Drarrys Casino.
But alas, the greedy never have enough and Drarrys story is no different. Some would say it was a series of unfortunate events where as other would say that he got exactly what he deserved. You can be the judge of that yourself...
It didnt take long until Drarry had rented a boat and furnished it into a floating casino. Things were going well. Drarry had become a business partner with a local pirate, Cervantes, who in return for a share of gold would provide security and. . . "staff" for the casino. We will get to the "staff" part later. So, things were going smoothly, Drarry had managed to hire staff for the kitchen and dealers for the casino, things were looking up and the rich gnome was about to become even more rich..
Business was good, everyone from pirate to assassin was frequenting Drarrys casino. It was a small event that eventually caused the downfall of the Casino. One day an unnamed employee found out details about the Casino that were not favorable. The said employee disappeared quickly and re-emerged as a slave. How this happened is unknown. Some say Drarry runs a tight business and the employee contracts allow him to slave people and others say that it was deception. Either way, this small event began a unstoppable chain of events. As people found out about a poor person falling into slavery, more people disappeared. Drarry was doing damage control, trying to silence the oppression. If Drarry had only known, his methods only made things worse...
Long story short for many people know what happened; Drarrys casino was running on slaves and people were not happy. Many knights and would-be-heroes flooded Booty Bay and attempted to stop Drarry by any means necessary and this crippled Drarrys business. He was now loosing money instead of making more. Drarry was not happy! This war on slavery continued for quite some time until it all escalated; Booty Bay did not like the bad reputation Drarrys Casino was attracting and decided to wash their hands from the mess. All of Drarrys contracts which were supported by Booty bay were nullified and thus, Drarry not only lost all his slaves, he also lost all his staff who up until now were working for him out of fear of falling into slavery. It only took a week of these unfortunate events that Drarry found himself hopelessly trapped. His casino boat was repossessed, his bank accounts were cleared to settle any residue debts he had and Drarry ended up having to give up everything. He ended up as a beggar in Booty Bay.
Drarry never ment to hurt anyone, he just wanted to be rich.. But now he was poor and everyone hated him. This made the gnome bitter and angry. Drarry lived on begging for money for a long time. It was one day when he was arranging illegal gambling on the peers of Booty Bay that he struck some luck. He completely cleaned out a rich nobleman and Drarry found himself owning a formidable amount of gold once again... And with that riush, Drarry got a second wind. He decided to become rich once again.
