History

Diawata belongs to a younger generation of draenei living on Draenor eons after fleeing the Burning Legion. She reached adulthood sometime briefly before the orcs began their bloodshed upon the draenei. During that time, she was a priestess under the guidance of her mother, working alongside her father and brother Kapre as they were paladins. She was not unlike other draenei in which she primarily kept to herself from the orcs, even advising against Kapre and their friend Tapaan from visiting them regularly. During this time she had a rivalry with a village beauty Mahaala, going as far as getting into fights with her. This earned both girls a bad reputation, one that Diawata had a difficult time hanging over her head as a priestess.

Before the orcs began their attack on the draenei, Diawata and Kapre participated in a ceremony where the elders gathered young adults in hopes to find matches and mates. The twins entered a friendly competition of sort between themselves in seeing who will get a mate and bear children first. Kapre sort of "cheated" his way to victory by taking Mahaala as his mate, leaving her rival Diawata among the females without one. As a consolation, Kapre and Mahaala matched her with Tapaan, a decision she came to dislike. Despite being mated for a while, the relationship never went very far, with Dia and Tapaan remaining as just friends. However, her attitude towards her mateship was beginning to change for the better by the time Kapre's son Saya was born... but this occurred just before the orcs unleashed their fury towards the draenei.

Both Diawata and Tapaan fought hard against the orcs, but Tapaan was felled during the massacre while Mahaala became a Broken and then a Lost One before she too was killed. Feeling helpless but not wanting to be left alone, Dia stayed by her brother and nephew's side as they hid in Zangarmarsh during the remainder of the massacre. There, they stayed to hide until the time came to storm Tempest Keep and escape in the Exodar. The arrival was disastrous, as many have died in the crash, including little Saya.

Feeling discouraged from her experiences in Draenor and arriving in Azeroth, Diawata delayed her exploration of the Isles to recover from her losses until a human paladin named Cristovao wandered near her home. Upon hearing his stories of his adventures as well as being a reminder of what could have been if Diawata was more open to Tapaan, Dia was quickly enamored by Cristovao and became willing to go explore with him. However, he departed before she was ready, and without thinking she impulsively departed the Isles to follow his trail. This then began a very, very long chain of unfortunate events where Diawata learned the harsh realities of Azeroth the hard way, from being frequently ambushed by Horde, falling off cliffs and barely surviving, being attacked by powerful beasts too strong for her to face, and even at several points of her quests, being stalked by bored Horde adventurers with nothing else to do with their lives except to terrorize her.

Eventually Diawata managed to track Cristovao down just before he was ready to enter the Dark Portal. By this time, Dia was strong enough to face the demons there but was still far from mastering her shamanistic abilities, not to mention very embittered and angry with her hardship-wracked experiences in Azeroth. Feeling bad for leaving Diawata to fend for herself while she explored her new home, Cristovao offered Diawata to join together in their travels as he would provide mentoship and protection for her while she continued to master her abilities. They both then approached the Dark Portal and entered together to experience the broken home of the Orcs and Draenei.

The experiences that followed were stressful for Diawata. The entire time she was wrought with bad memories of her old home, at one point even wandered near the Auchidoun where she was nearly killed before Cristovao came to rescue her. However, the Auchidoun incident drew both of them closer, and from that moment on they declared their love for each other and became mates. They would then continue to explore Outland before the stress of visiting a troubled home overcame Dia; Cristovao then decided it was time to leave.

The rest of their travels together would eventually bring them to Northrend, and from there, Diawata honed her abilities as a shaman by engaging in battle with the Horde there as she, Cristovao, and their dwarf friend Skala prepared for their fights against the Lich King. For a time she stayed in Dalaran, making money off of her alchemy and joining the armies into the battlegrounds as they would face the Lich King's armies. Once again, however, her time of exploration and combat was cut short--she grew weary of the fights as she was overwhelmed by the Horde there. Taking a break by the time the fight against the Lich King drew to a close, Diawata decided upon studying various plant life from Northrend and some parts of the rest of Azeroth as well as to improve her alchemy, and from there she left Northrend and returned to Azuremyst Isles.

Upon leaving her personal belongings--including her armor set--inside her bank vault in the Exodar, Dia's brother Kapre snuck in and stole it in hopes to use it as a reference to gain powerful shamanistic armor of his own. However, the blacksmith made a mistake in the orders and melded the armor with inferior metals, resulting in Kapre simply sneaking the armor back into the vault before leaving the Exodar. This angered Dia to no end by the time she discovered the damage, resulting in another world-wide search to seek another in Azeroth... this time, for her brother out of revenge. Through Cristovao's conviction, and a realization of how much Dia and her brother grew apart since she left the Exodar to chase down a human crush, both siblings reconciled and eventually forgave each other. Dia then focused on seeking rest and peace with Cristovao, dividing her personal time on studying herbs and plantlife while training her brother as he becomes a stronger fighter.
