Personality

Delilah is intelligent, inquisitive, and until recently was very naive. A promising student of the Arcane, she values knowledge highly and her insatiable curiosity drives her to try to learn from anything and anyone she encounters. She tends to ask too many questions, and often ones of the wrong nature. Though her recent travels have taught her much and changed her profoundly, she still lacks wisdom due to her young age and lack of life experience. She is, however, a quick learner in that regard as well.

Due to her sheltered childhood, Delilah used to be very trusting and grew up not knowing much of the real world. She believed that she wants to do good in the world but didn't have a clear idea of what good and evil are. She knew that she needs to be cautious but had a very vague idea of what to be cautious of. She understood that knowledge of the Arcane brings power and that power is addicting but got offended when she felt that somebody was trying to hold her back, believing that she can't fall prey to such things if she remained vigilant. Beneath her timid and polite exterior is someone who is driven, brash, and quite reckless.

Delilah has her own understanding of justice. She feels guilty if she thinks she has wronged someone, and will actively seek out a way to settle the score, even to her own detriment. Likewise, if she feels she is wronged, she will seek whatever retribution she deems fair. She is not bloodthirsty, but neither does she cringe at the sight of her own blood. As of late, she has developed an addiction to pain and finds that she enjoys the sensation in a way. As in her other pursuits, she tends to be reckless and sometimes downright foolish.

Recent travels have put Delilah through much distress and pain, and have shaken her sanity. She is highly emotional and her behavior tends to be erratic and unpredictable. She is fiercely loyal to her friends, but causes harm when she intends to help far too often for her liking. Her thoughts often turn to death, usually her own, and her actions are often influenced by this. Though she is naturally kind and always tries to avoid what she considers pointless killing, she does nevertheless tend to be fairly violent. She often contradicts herself without realizing it, in both words and actions. She tends to get overzealous when she has her mind set on something and finds it very difficult to back off when it is prudent to do so. She is driven to accomplish any goal she sets for herself and often drives herself to injury or illness to do so.

History

Delilah is the daughter of a fairly successful exotic furs merchant. She grew up in relative seclusion in Lakeshire. Though there were other children around, Delilah didn't have many friends as a child, always keeping to her books. She spent much of her time in self-imposed exile, showing much more interest in the theoretical world of her studies than the real world around her. Though this stuck with her and became ingrained in her personality, she was curious about everything she encountered as a child. Her teachers noticed that she displayed an affinity for the Arcane at an early age. With his money, her father could afford to give her anything she needed and provide her with private tutors. Delilah quckly gained interest in learning magic, both to surpass her peers and due to the pure desire for increasing her knowledge.

Though her family did not live the aristocratic lifestyle, Delilah had a comfortable childhood and did not want for much. She seldom paid attention to how other people live their lives and has never seen true poverty. Though she has studied her history and knows much of the world in theory, she has, until her recent travels, seen very little of it personally. Due to her lack of life experience, she is often unable to connect what she has learned of the world with what she encounters, leaving her potentially vulnerable to the whims of malevolent individuals who would take advantage of an overly inquisitive child.
