Personality

People would say that Dastin is a polite, calm, and reserved man. He is loyal to his friends and doesn’t lie to them for any reason. He strives to be the voice of reason during an argument, trying to defuse a situation with words alone, but he won't shy away from using force, should it be called for.

Dastin may be a polite, gentle man, but he can grow quite annoyed with nonsense, He will do what he can to distance himself from asinine people or sometimes he’ll just call them out on their stupidity. Despite that, Dastin will act polite around them, but there are certain issues where Dastin will become angry and drop his polite persona.

History

Dastin was born five years before the First War in Stormwind and was raised in Southshore when his parents fled to Lordearon like the other refugees and settled down there for good. His father Luther was priest and his mother Amelia was a mage. Luther worried about his son’s safety and wanted to teach him how to defend himself. He decided to teach Dastin how to heal and protect himself with a staff, when he was ready of course.

Dastin would split time between working on the fishing boats and learning from his father. When his training began, Luther drilled the tenets of the Light into Dastin. He would have to show complete understanding of one tenet before he could learn more holy magic from his father.

One day Dastin was dragged down to Dalaran by his mother, apparently Amelia thought it would be a nice little break from his father’s training. He enjoyed the trip up to the city, until he got to the outskirts of the city and was hit by a rogue frost bolt. That was how Dastin met his wife, Madeline Hughes. Madeline was training her frost bolt spell and missed her target completely. Feeling sorry for the young man she offered to show Dastin around the city, they quickly fell in love, they married a year later. The marriage was hard on them, since Dastin was still training as a priest and Madeline was still training to become a mage, but Dastin made sure to visit her in Dalaran every time he could. The two had a son named Marshal fairly early into their marriage.

Some years after the Second War, while going to visit Madeline in Dalaran with their son, Dastin spotted an orc, probably from one of the internment camps. The orc looked badly beaten, he watched from behind a tree as the orc drained the soul of one camp guard. Dastin of course didn’t know what he was doing, but he noticed that the orc made some odd green stone and crushed it, within minutes the orc’s wounds began to heal and he walked off into the distance.

Dastin, along his wife and son returned to Southshore and was greeted with bad news from his mother. Luther was killed during a prison break from one the internment camps. In the back of Dastin’s mind he always wondered if that orc he spied on when he was making his way to Dalaran was from that internment camp. After he mourned for his father’s passing he decided that it would be best for them to leave Southshore and return to Stormwind, hoping the change of scenery would help his mother move on. With Madeline’s training in Dalaran complete she was able to move with her husband to Stormwind.

Work was easy to find in Stormwind. Dastin did what he could help with the construction, as he was no stranger to physical work and he was Priest. Life was simple and that was good enough for him, until his son came down with an illness that left him bedridden. Dastin would fall out of helping with the construction and spend most to all of his time by his son’s bed, praying to the Light to help his son get through his sickness. When Dastin’s prayers seemed to go unanswered he would call on the Light to heal Marshal, but to no avail. Dastin did all he could to help remove the illness from his son, even taking up alchemy in hope he could find some cure.

Dastin’s efforts were in vain. All his training in the healing arts couldn’t keep his son alive. Dastin couldn’t live with the fact that he failed to keep his son from dying, was channeled into a new goal. Dastin would bring his son back from the dead. He would go to the priests of Stormwind, pleading for their help, but all they would say is that Marshal was with the Light now and it would be cruel to take that away from him. With no one helping him, he decided he would do it by himself. He would lock himself away, channeling the Light to try and revive his son. During another attempt, he found himself questioning if this was right. He would find that he couldn’t channel the Light anymore. Dastin just sat beside his son and wept as he believed that he has lost all hope to bring his son back. Dastin would wake up to find that his wife left him. He was obsessed with bringing son back that he was never there for his wife, helping her through her loss.

For weeks Dastin sat in his home, all alone. His mother would visit when she could, but Dastin was left to his thoughts. It wasn’t until he decided to finally leave his house and get some fresh air that he found a possible way for him to bring his son back. While in the market he overheard two veterans talking about a battle with an orc warlock. The soldiers kept talking about how hard it was to kill this orc, apparently the orc would keep using these green stones to heal himself and that after the veterans managed to kill the thing or so they thought. The orc would stand right back up and attacked them. Unknown to Dastin and veterans, it was use of a soul stone that allowed the orc stand up and keep fighting.

Dastin’s eyes widened, his mind flooding with the memories of that day he spied on the orc. He began to plot, thinking that he might have a way to bring his son back. He believes that there is something to Warlock’s magic that can help him, but Dastin had no idea on how to find a warlock to train him. With no luck finding a trainer, he decided to leave the city and go fishing, hoping to try and relax for a change. On his way to the river, Dastin would see a hooded man being chased by a bounty hunter on horseback. The hooded man named Geoffrey; fell to the ground when he tripped over a rock as he was fleeing. The bounty hunter dismounted his horse and drew his sword, and slowly approached the man. Geoffrey would fire a shadow bolt at the bounty hunter, but he would miss his target completely, the chase must have exhausted him.

When Dastin saw the man fire a shadow bolt, he knew he found a warlock. Finding a fairly large rock on the ground, he would creep up to the bounty hunter and smash his head in with the rock. Covered in the blood of hunter, Dastin stared down at the warlock, “I know what you are. Teach me how to be a Warlock in return for saving your life.” Geoffrey would accept, but he asked if Dastin knew anything about Arcane. Dastin did not. Geoffrey still owed this man his life and would help Dastin understand Arcane before he would teach him fel. Wanting to stay on the move because there would surely be more bounty hunters after him, Geoffrey and Dastin traveled Azeroth. Dastin spent two years learning the basics of Arcane magic from his mother’s tomes that he... borrowed.

After being able to cast a single fire spell, Geoffrey decided he was ready to learn the ways of fel. Dastin was taught mostly affliction magic, since his teacher used it exclusively. It wasn’t until several years later that Dastin learned all that he could from Geoffrey and left his side to work on his own. Dastin would start to search all over Azeroth for anything to help him bring back his son.
