He is kind, and is loath to do anything outside his moral standing. Lying, even, is something he refrains from even in the most pressing circumstances. Dane is very passionate about his writing, and about how he feels about fighting, murdering, war, and any form of malice and evil. Such subjects that surface in his poetry often. He has a broken soul, filled with sadness and loss, something to be explained in his history. In the rare occasions he shows anger, he does so with a quiet, cold manner, like an icy winter night. A condenced sphere of pain and utter frustration to be loosed upon the slightest agitation. He can be prone to this state for days, or weeks at a time.

History

He grew up under the parenting of Hellin and Thomas Hart, in the northwestern region of Redridge. In childhood, he always had a tendency to look on the darker side of things, while acting on a lighter path, as his father was a very cynical, callous person, who's ignorance astounded even Dane at his young age. He always had a way with words, and gained a sort of charisma. He was educated in language, writing, and history but because of his short stature was never opted for any warrior training, coupled with his own disinterest. He was more interested in literature. At the age of ten his father died from stab and slash wounds. Gnolls were suspected. His mother fell to depression and lost interest in her son, seeing him as a constant reminder at what she'd lost. She grew bitter at his lack of interest in battle, being that his father was had fought in the first war. He was treated with disdain and strict discipline. His once loving mother had turned into a bitter Ice-queen in the span of a week, it seemed to young Dane. For years spent out in the secluded forests of redridge, appreciating the nature and beauty of the land, and a disposition towards inflicting pain, Dane reached manhood, and had developed an inner calm, along with a respect for all life*1. This empathy led to quick friendship with Night Elves, and a distancing from the less ecological races of the Alliance. And one day he met a woman, Sarah. He swooned and wrote until he had finally won her, and soon married her. But after only two years of marriage she became angry at her husband for his brooding nature and pessimistic tendency. She grew to hate him too for his lack of interest to fight for his land, and called him weak. Then when his feeling for her just wasn't enough, she left him. He drank and wrote his sadness, never looking upon the world the same again. Shadows seemed darker, and the sun seemed to shine less for him. His psyche took a darker turn, and his open heart turned cold and he became jaded.

Now, searching to make a living from writing books and Poetry, he wonders about, staying one place for a year…finding another settlement…whichever would take him. And he wrote, and traded, and traveled until his former wife became a memory and he was in his early fifties. He continues to write about life, hurt, war, and love, spreading peace where he could, and making friends with whomever possible.

1.Such an example would be Indil, a young (relative) Night elf traveler found rather precariously perched on a flat rock above a waterfall Dane had frequented in his early teenage years. Indil, being of a rather uncharacteristicly sunny disposition, opted for a conversation. Dane, being an impressionable youngling, took this Night Elf's words of economical wisdom to heart.

2. Dane spent some time among the Darnassians, studying their scripture and learning their culture. The Night Elves accepted this contact wearily, but surely, as along with his mild temperment he brought gifts. All aquitted with his tolerated race.
