Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Despite her relatively bland appearance, Dana seems to be a good person. A bit of an idiot, to be sure, but a good person overall. She can be too trusting, then too easily hurt. It takes her a bit longer than most to process new information, let alone agree with it. She seems to be more set in her ways than a woman four times her age! While she is slower on the uptake, her thoughts do eventually head to the right answer, and she has a good head on her shoulders, when she's not being stubborn, prejudiced, frightened, or just plain uncomprehending.

At heart, she is gentle and good, despite her flaws, and she endeavors to be the best healer she can. She fights against her own fear of violence to be there when she is needed, and despite her dislike of strong negative emotions, she seems to be more than capable of dealing with blood, gore, bone, tears, and screaming. As long as she can concentrate on her work, she is like a mother bear! And the moment she has nothing to do, she turns into a quivering rabbit, fleeing from danger as fast as her uneven legs will take her.

Don't bother explaining jokes to her. She doesn't understand sarcasm, or practical jokes, or most conventional humor. Although an emotional creature, she tends to take most things literally (and personally...), and can't stand to be the butt of a joke. Perhaps getting out of Stormwind and into some more active wartime healing duty will help give her a thicker skin and a quicker mind...

History

Born to Marcus and Alma Harper, two simple Westfall farmers, Dana was the elder of her siblings. Her younger brother, Hamlit, was a handful, and she quickly learned the best ways to deal with him while helping on her parent's farm. At least, she tried her hardest, as her family was one that had decided to stay after the Defias Brotherhood had ravaged the land. After six years of her parents arguing about "the proper place to raise children", she and her brother were packed off to live with their father's sister in Elwynn forest. The woman had no idea how to raise children, however, and eventually found a way to get rid of the children by Dana's tenth birthday. Packing them both a lunch of apples and water, she sent them off to Northshire Abbey, just down the road, where the priests found more suitable lives for Hamlit and Dana.

The next several years of training were difficult for them both, but they made it through. Dana was found to be proficient at the healing arts, not only with her knowledge of herbs and remedies, but her newfound blessings by the Light. A love of studying and a strange sort of addiction to the Light itself brought her into her priestess' robes faster than one could blink. Hamlit, on the other hand, expended his energy the way all little boys did -- play fighting. Soon he was as good with a blade as other boys his age, and his warrior training commenced only a few years after Dana had taken the mantle of novice priestess.

While Hamlit was seized with a desire to find his fortune and explore the world, Dana preferred to stay at Northshire. Everything there was simple, easy, and nonthreatening. It wasn't until she was sixteen that Brother Paxton, along with the others, decided it was time for her to bring her healing touch to the Stormwind Cathedral.

At first, she had stars in her eyes. She thought she would be renowned, that she would heal great and mighty people and have praise (and gold) showering on her daily from the hands of wealthy, young, handsome nobles. The frilly-headed teenager's hopes were quickly crushed as she was shunted into the dormitories with other country louts like herself, all with similar powers of similar strength.

However, her dream was not over. She would study harder, and be a better person. She volunteered at the orphanage and learned to sew, mending the children's clothes and helping to create new vestments for her fellow students of the Light to boot.

Although the higher-ranking priests and priestesses sent Dana, along with her fellows, to various sites of battle, she has never taken up the journeying expected of her by the age of 20, and is content to remain in Stormwind, sewing and healing and hiding behind her books instead of living life as it was meant to be lived.

Only recently has Sister Dana gone back to training her skills in the world outside of Stormwind -- convinced that her healing powers will grow if she practices wielding the light in a combative manner, she is reluctantly taking up the mantle of "battle-priest", but only as a means to further her Light-given healing prowess. Given her druthers, she would rather stay in the Cathedral than deal with monsters and mayhem. When asked what name would take, she chose "Whitelace", drawing upon the color of purity, and upon the clothing she makes.
