Personality

Alignment: Lawful Neutral (Evil tendencies)

In public or in private, Damien goes to great lengths to appear the gentleman. He is practically obsessively neat and tidy, ordered and precise. As he has remarked; 'My propriety is a coping mechanism. A great comfort to me.' He was ever rather aloof and proper during life, never quite at ease in casual company. In death, the fact that he can still observe the same behaviours relaxes him a great deal. While he claims to be quite distressed by his transformation into an undead, he is truthfully quite happy with his corpsified state, content not to have to eat or breathe in order to survive. Though a fondness for fine wine persists, he privately maintains that free-willed undeath is the greatest gift anyone could receive.

History

Born in Stromgarde to a relatively opulent merchant family, Damien received an above-average education (i.e; he received an education.) Benefiting from learned tutors, he displayed an early ability and affinity for biology; particularly the practical study of anatomy: medicine. Lacking the strength of faith that priesthood would require, he became a surgeon, eventually moving away from his birthplace to establish a successful medical practice and surgery in the town of Andorhal. There he whiled away his years perfecting his art, working hand in hand with the priests of the light on more serious injuries sustained by the general populace, or trivial ones not really worthy of the boon of divine healing.

Sadly, he fell prey to the plagued grain almost as soon as it began to be distributed across Lordaeron, becoming one of the first members of the scourge. For many years he roamed as one of the Lich King's mindless servants, until the opportunity came to join Sylvanas' insurrection. Valued as a surgeon amongst a people who now found that light burnt away their flesh rather than provide the healing that it used to, Damien found his place tending to those forsaken who were wounded in battle, providing them with new limbs, sealing old wounds, and suchlike – generally making them more fit for battlefield deployment. He continued in this role for a while, but his cunning and skill with a knife eventually attracted the attention of the Forsaken's intelligence division: the Deathstalkers. Training under them for many years – between the establishment of Undercity and the Forsaken's admission to the horde, he became a potent if somewhat reluctant combatant, accepting his duty to the Banshee Queen.

He was happy enough to help with the war efforts of the horde throughout the struggles leading up to the defeat of Kel'Thuzad, the head of the Cult of the Damned. After all, it had been he who had ordered the distribution of the plagued grain throughout Lordaeron's towns and villages. After that, he started to lose interest in the military life – revenge having been taken against the mastermind of his own demise. Once Arthas' defeat was achieved, Damien left the Deathstalkers, intending to return to 'life' as an occasional surgeon and 'gentleman of leisure'.
