Personality

Alignment: Neutral

Cela is best described by her belief in the balance of all things. This is not limited to nature or her belief, instead being based upon her view of the night. To common Night Elven belief in the Goddess Elune, the Moon, she added a faith in the all-encompassing Night, the Shadow of the world, in which her kind are so quick to seek refuge in, to meld with. She sees the Moon and the Night itself as dual forces, going hand in hand, much like Darkness and Light or Good and Evil, wishing to partake of both realms, finding this balance reflected often in the world around her. She will heal as well as harm, leaving it to a matter of personal choice, depending on the subject matter.

Her views on the other races are often in rapport with her belief in cosmic symmetry, for instance, she sees Humanity as a race as being one of the most diverse peoples of Azeroth, despite their often destructive natures. The Draenei and the Forsaken, she believes are much too focused on a single aspect of the universe, and often forget about the bigger picture, out of the two, Forsaken also becoming abominations in the process. Her views on the Tauren are neutral, tolerating them only because they are part of the Cenarion Circle. Trolls and Orcs are despised, if not outright hated, their acts of wanton rampage towards the nature so guarded by the Kal'dorei leading to this. Gnomes are too progressive for her taste, and far too technological for her to like, often coming under her judgemental eye as a race headed for self-destruction on a very fast track, as she often takes the world at a slow, languid pace, so as to better understand every minute detail of the intricate natures of things. Blood Elves are definitely a source of hatred and unrest for the priestess, not only for their abuse of Arcane that sundered the world, but for turning to fel magic to sustain their addiction. Her own people are, to her, brothers and sisters, despite most of them not understanding her need to delve in both Moonlight and the night's Shadow.

History

From birth, Cela was to be a priestess of Elune, her physical body being too frail at the time for a more martial upbringing. Her devout nature to the Moon goddess meant slowly but surely, she would become a member of the Temple of the Moon where she practiced her faith all along her young life, straight into adulthood. She saw the fervor of her sisters, the wonders that their faith could bring, and aspired to these goals, eventually reaching them alongside adulthood. She was an only child of a priestess and a druid, their time, however, coming short as both their lives were taken by the forests of Ashenvale, the sisterhood of priestesses within the temple becoming her surrogate family.

The pivotal moment in her life came one moonless night as she looked up at a clouded sky, no light being present on it whatsoever, bathing the world in pitch blackness. She gazed upon this endless void with awe, seeing it as the counterpart to Elune's light. The following days, or, rather nights, as Kal'dorei are nocturnal, she returned to her sisters, to tell them of the balance she'd seen between the ever-present, all encompassing Night and the Light that the goddess brought to it. They quickly dismissed her belief as false, keeping to their faith that only Elune herself was worthy of their worship. She was shocked by their lack of understanding, arguing that they shun too readily the shadows in which they are so quick to hide and meld in, that the Light of Elune, while valuable, was but one side of the Night, the dark Shadow of the sky being the other, and that one should walk with both, hand in hand, rather than focus on one alone.

Needless to say, her sisters did not understand her or her intentions, and, as such, she left the Temple altogether, to study the Shadow and the Light of the pale goddess in the seclusion of the ancient forests of Northern Kalimdor. She practiced her newfound faith regularly, keeping both to it and to her service to the Moon goddess, seeking to touch the best of both worlds, eventually becoming as skilled in the Night as she was in Starlight, yet never fully mastering both. This isolationist paradigm, however, exposed her to the dangers of the forest, to which she needed to adapt or perish. It strengthened her body and her will, allowing her to survive in such untamed lands.

Soon, though, the Third War came, and the Legion was battering at her very doorstep, driving her out of hiding and into the horrors of war. She saw her kind slaughtered, yet did all she could to heal the wounded with the light of Elune and strike blows against the demonic invaders with her skill in shadows.

After the war ended and the Kal'dorei entered the Alliance, she left her kin, to return to them in sporadic bursts, if only for an exchange of words with her sisters and revisit the lands that had carried and sustained her throughout her life before running off to wander the world, enjoying the cosmic balance she saw reflected in all things.

In recent times, not only has Cela aided a band of vigilantes on their quest to mete out justice 'cross the land - Kaldorei lands especially - but she has also met with one of her former students from the Temple: a certain one, that had fallen to Shadow... The meeting did little to upset the appearance of the devout follower of Elune and the all-encompassing Night, but it stirred in her a number of troubling questions. She'd always believed balance to be important, as much as the worship of the Goddess, yet her student had fallen to utter darkness and forsaken the Pale Goddess' ways.

In the end, the encounter and the ones that followed led to steeling Cela's faith in the Goddess Elune, and the passing of yet another year in her lifetime...

"Why do you not dare to tread in the shadows in which we are so quick to meld? Why not try and walk, hand in hand, with the Moon and the Night?"

Skills and Abilities

Cela differs from the usual Priest skills and abilities in a few ways.

The Armor of Elune: Cela's usual Power Word: Shield now evokes a suit of divine, silvery platemail around her for its duration, rather than a bubble. It's simply a change of shape.

Searing Arrows: The Priestess may mold the Holy Fire spell to throw arrows made of searing silver flames, rather than just formless fire.

Starfall: The Priestess has adapted the Penance spell so that, rather than firing it from her person, the volley of spheres of holy energy falls from the sky. Just like Penance, it can heal as well as harm, depending on intent. It's simply a change of direction.

Forget-me-not: After lengthy study of the mental arts, Cela has come to specialize in the erasing of memories, or their restoration in amnesiacs. It obviously requires player consent.

Trueshot: Just as Power Infusion sharpens the minds of casters, Cela's can sharpen the aim of archers and riflemen as well.
