There's been some discussion as to what is allowable and what is not allowable as far as non-standard races go. So, here is the low-down. While we aren't going to strictly force everyone to play a member of one of the ten player factions, there has to be a certain degree of feasibility as far as "where did this character come from, and how is he/she able to interact with the player factions?" As such, here are the general guidelines for what is playable and what is not.

1. A race/faction has to be able to feasibly blend-in with one of the player factions. This rules out races like the Dark Iron Dwarves, the Leper Gnomes, and most non-Jungle Trolls, as they are clearly visible for what they are and would generally be kill-on-sight.

2. A race/faction has to be excluded from one of the over-arching main "villain groups," which at the moment is defined as being the Scourge, Illidari, Qiraji, Hakkari, Scarlet Crusade, and Legion. That is not to say that you cannot worship or otherwise secretly try to support such factions, only that you would not be affiliated with them and they would likely not treat your character any differently from any other person.

3. A character has to be able to cope in some way with the fact that if he/she came from a hostile faction, that faction is hostile to them as well. If you're a Blackrock Orc, why are you now in Orgrimmar? Were you outcast? Did you leave as a traitor?

Now, this is not a set of hard-fast rules. Exceptions *may* exist, such as CMCs [custom model characters] . However, they are only given out to people that the GM Staff trusts to be able to RP the role well. As such, in order to get a character extremely out of the norm, a player must:

A. Get permission from a content GM before even submitting a profile. This will be judged by the quality of the player's RP, his or her writing skills, and the level of trust that is able to be placed into that player. This will likely be discussed, and it should not be expected to get an answer right away.

B. IF GRANTED, the player must then go through the standard approval process, writing up a profile and having it checked by the GMs.

C. AFTER THE PROFILE IS APPROVED, the player may then (AND ONLY THEN) create the character. During this time, the character may be watched to ensure that it is being handled to our satisfaction.

These races are NOT allowed to be player characters, for varying reasons:

These FACTIONS are unplayable as well: (They are listed above as well, but people seem to miss things that don't have bullets.)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, but take this into account: on the live servers, can you solo one of this race? If not, the answer is no.
