Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Carter is friendly and easygoing. She holds no ill towards any race, although she is slightly wary of Death Knights. She has no trouble starting conversation and will usually be the one to break the silence, should it occur.

She is very curious and attempts to fill the gaps in her learning whenever she is able, usually showering whoever might have any knowledge she misses with an endless stream of questions or spending whole days in her own with books.

Her sheltered life and the neutrality of Dalaran have allowed her to hold hopeful – maybe naïve – views of the world. She believes that everyone are equally capable of 'good' despite their old actions. Everyone can change, after all.

When something goes amiss in her usual rhythm of life - plans foiled, trust betrayed and so on - she is rather quick to shy away from others, abandoning her previous extroversion and spending large amounts of time alone until she feels better.

History

Carter was born in Ironforge, daughter of Hagni Steamsprockle and Gammina Shinygizmo. Her birth came almost as a blessing – for too long her parents were attempting to have a child to no avail. Thus, they decided to give Carter the best they could. Not willing to lose any time that could be spent in her education, her father made a contraption that would gauge her natural affinities towards multiple careers. Whether the machinery he made functioned correctly or or not nobody knows, but it did point out that Carter had talent for magic. Sparing no costs, they sent her aged four to Dalaran to study under a retired mage named Tallendein.

She was too young to show any objection to the idea, but missed her parents nevertheless. Her studies would be normally considered extremely taxing, but she grew used to it, since it had been the pace of her studies during her entire early life. She had little time for herself and very little to do in Tallendein's house, so she often just read the fiction books in his extensive personal library, her imaginary friend "Sir Fitzpatrick" - a knight from one of the books she read – keeping her company.

When she aged nine, Tallendein saw her fit for the more rudimentary knowledge of the Arcane, slowly adding the new studies to her day. Eleven months later she attempted to 'bind' her imaginary friend to a pair of bracelets, resulting in a crude misshapen form that was barely capable of moving. Nevertheless, Tallendein was impressed and used her sudden interest in creating a familiar to further increase the pace of her studies.

As her studies progressed, she enhanced and altered the spell on the bracelets, eventually turning it into a basic automaton, capable of following a few select commands. The Second War came and went, barely noticed by her, as Tallendein's house was isolated among the Alterac Mountains.

As she aged eighteen, she was released from Tallendein's care and returns to Ironforge briefly for a reunion with her parents. They think that despite her accomplishments thus far, she has much more to learn. As such, they send her to Dalaran once again, this time as a regular student, paying for her expenses.

Instead of specializing and graduating as a full-fledged mage, Carter decides to learn as much as she can from as many fields as possible, remaining a professional student of sorts. Nevertheless, the pace of the classes slowed down dramatically once she left Tallendein's tutelage, granting her some free time, which she used mostly to travel around the area surrounding Dalaran and later around the world after she learned translocation spells, visiting her family frequently.

When Dalaran was besieged, she translocated to Ironforge and spent a some time in relative idleness with her family in Ironforge until she returned to Dalaran to aid in its reconstruction.

Carter has continued her studies ever since Dalaran was rebuilt, occasionally travelling around the world in her free time.
