Personality

Gabriel is rough around the edges. He's blunt, sarcastic, witty, rough, rude, but most of the times, means well. He tries to help, but on his own way. He's bossy, and to an extent, cruel. But at the same time, capable of kindness, and somewhat, to be gentle. Although he claims not to be able to "feel" anything, he shows the opposite many times, especially his favor for strong rum, that he claims to "remember the taste."

History

Gabriel Callahan was born into the son of a priestess and a paladin. His father thought he was destined to greatness, and gave him the name that signified "Hope." He was trained in that manner. The usual paladin propaganda was inserted deep into his brain from the training that started at a young age, and it showed. Gabriel always tried to do his best for everyone, and help every single person in any way possible.

When his training ended, Gabriel roamed Azeroth, trying to help as many people as it was humanly possible to do. Soon, the plague struck, and he hurriedly joined the Scarlet Crusade, to purge the undeath from the lands and save the humans from Azeroth - Fulfill his destiny as a ray of hope.

Gabriel would often preach about Light, and Hope, to his fellow Scarlets. He wasn't particularly of high patent, or even renown, but he didn't mind. He simply enjoyed helping the others and spreading the Light.

Soon however, his dreams would be crushed under the form of the Scourge. Their attack was mighty, and swift. Many died, but he did not. He instead saw his allies be ruthlessly torn apart, along with his sense of judgment, of right and wrong... He saw himself lose the Light and his own mind. The scourge saw on him, a potential pawn. They dragged him back to the Acherus hold along with other surviving Scarlets, and started the painful, long process that would turn them into Death knights.

Gabriel was a success. After he had slain his former companions as a proof of loyalty to the Lich King and the Scourge, he set out to the war against the Scarlet Crusade.

Now as a Death Knight, Gabriel marched into the front lines, rendering apart Scarlet and innocents alike. He knew what he was doing. His mind processed it, he rationalized it, but he simply didn't care. He simply obeyed the Lich King's command. And after the battle was over, he was sent to the Light's Hope Chapel along with Mograine and various other Death Knights to capture it.

The battle was swift. It ended quickly. Not in their favor, however. The death knights were utterly crushed. Tirion Fordring, was there. The Lich King himself, as well. Something... Happened. He saw the Light flash for a second, and suddenly, he understood. His mind could... think properly again. All the people he killed flashed in front of his eyes, this time causing a mix of anguish and disgust instead of the previous indifference. He glanced at the Lich King before he escaped, his eyes flickering with newfound hate, instead of previous loyalty.

Gabriel joined the Knights of the Ebon Blade gladly, and from that day onwards, spent his time on Northrend, fighting the Scourge night and day, stopping at nothing to try and prevent their advance. Gabriel's efforts were rewarded, as he climbed the ranks of the Ebon Blade, achieving enough status to command a small group of Death Knights on missions of his own right.

When the Ashen Verdict was formed, Gabriel's squad was called. He was sent there, and his squad played a minor part in securing the citadel's entrance and keeping it that way.

After the Lich King fell, Gabriel walked away. He didn't openly announce he was leaving the Knights, or abandon them during times of war, or desert in any way. He simply chose not to fight anymore.

He spent a good deal of time in booty bay, trying to hide his Death Knighthood from others while trying to find a way to get his "old life" back. Lately, though, he's been stumbling on an awful lot of death knights. ...Maybe it's time to take up the runeblade once more.
