Personality

Caine is about as sober minded as a Dwarf can be; you have to be in his business. He drinks, but not in a way that would make him the slobbering drunk most of his kind tend to aspire to be. He himself is more a fan of cigars. He's never expressly stated why he prefers them, however, and never seems to want to. What he decidedly does not have a preference for has been noted to be Troggs, or any other creature that tries to make a ruin its home. He believes they destroy the history with their interference.

If you were to talk to him about his interests, the first thing he'd say is he loves adventure, or anything to do with it, specifically history and the acquirement of ancient things. He is a hound for such things, relentlessly pursuing what he wishes to study and learn about with a tenacity that baffles. Anything that doesn't take an adventure to figure out is not worth doing, in his mind. But aside from his devotion to his work, he is a simple man, er, Dwarf; A light comedian, a stubborn ox, and an eccentric with his methods.

History

Caine was born to a respectable, semi-prominent family of Miners in Ironforge. These people were exceedingly good with dirt; dirt and stone. They were also very familial and liked each and every one of themselves to be what said individual's elders desired for them to be. Thus, Caine was to be a miner, like his father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, etc. before him. One might think he would the tragically deep rebel who only wanted to be an artist or a vocalist, but this wouldn't be true. In fact, he had just as much a love for dirt as the rest of his family. Maybe he even loved it more than they did, who can say?

His family mined and dug for most of his childhood, and he only deviated from this life with his schooling, where he took an especial interest in history. Thus, when the venue for Dwarven interest began to shift from mining to Archaeology, Caine's family was one of the first to start banding together and exploring. Caine would often say that he couldn't tell you what changed about them, only that they began to devote their entire fortune (which was modest) to the practice of adventure and Caine, for one, wholeheartedly followed.

He began to work on (and eventually master) everything that he saw fit for the business. He had to travel extensively to even learn a quarter of what he knows now, and so that's what he ended up doing. This would mark the first time he left his family to pursue anything on his own (not that they weren't planning expeditions and adventures themselves) and traveled to distant lands, again learning everything that was possible about said lands and mapping out the ancient forgotten places for the Explorer's League.

It wasn't long before he signed up on an expedition in Northrend and met Murin Thunderbeard, and they became fast friends for better or worse. After Northrend, he lulled, seeking money more than adventure and signing on with the Waveharp Company under a Captain Selyse Waveharp. Once he earned enough, he made his excuses and took off, seeking adventure once more.
