Personality

Baertrigg is just itching for a fight. All the time, every time. He feels he has lost something and the only way to get it back is with blood. He is exceptionally violent. He holds little regard for self-preservation and would jump off a cliff on a dare. Baertrigg seeks to regain his honor among his kin, and also seeks to strike fear into his enemies. Baertrigg is flawed, in that he tries to get others to respect him, by getting them to fear him first. All in all, Baertrigg is a violent person, and although he means well in most circumstances, he will never compromise his ultimate goal of honor for morality.

He does not like the idea of working with the Ebon Blade, or what he calls an organization of dead men and women focused on re-killing other dead men and women. He loosely affiliates with them because he's sure he'll be able to get back at the monsters who stole his life. He is more concerned with hacking down the Horde to pieces.

Baertrigg likes to be noticed, he understands it one of the luxuries not experienced enough times in life. Baertrigg gives credit where credit is due. He loves everything any Dwarf loves, and even more so. He tries to retain a generally positive attitude but struggles to do that sometimes. Combat is his outlet.

History

Baertrigg was caught by a bit of bad luck to have been conscripted to Northrend. It was a great honor to serve his time this way, but a great dishonor to being put in jail. Baertrigg isn't a perfect person, that's a given, and he was imprisoned for a set of minor offenses. His generally benign disposition hinted off that he could be worked with. He was sent overseas to help in the search for artifacts with the Dwarves and Muradin Bronzebeard. Here he remained for a good deal of time, aiding in the expedition as just a laborer.

Eventually, there was some conflict and Baertrigg died. In the middle of the fighting alongside Humans against the Scourge, Baertrigg did something stupid. He made a wager with a Human footman that he could kill a Ghoul with his arms tied behind his back while balancing a pot of water on his head. Well, Baertrigg took the challenge and kicked a Ghoul in the face, but the pot fell and he slipped in the water, off of a cliff into a river. Baertrigg isn't sure what exactly killed him, the shock of falling, the shock of hitting the water, or the freezing to death. He thinks the shame of losing a bet did him in.

A while from then he was risen under the sway of the Lich King and given the privilege of the Death Knight. Having a well preserved body that had froze in the river, the bodily fortitude to retain shape after such a fall, and the simple brain to have fallen in the first place made him a decent candidate to control the aggressive powers bestowed to him. He was taken to Acherus in the Eastern Plaguelands not too soon after. He was sent down as a shock troop to terrorize the countryside for a bit with others.

Another moment of time since, Baertrigg managed to free himself from the mental domination. He found himself among other Death Knights like him, the Ebon Blade. It took him quite a bit of time to getting a hold of himself and getting out of the Plaguelands back to what he calls 'Solid ground.' He insists he returns to defend the Alliance lands from the Scourge but that could be considered a slight understatement. After all, if he wanted to kill Scourge, he could have stayed in the Plaguelands.
