Character Full Name: Aun'la

Character In-Game Name: Aunla

Nicknames: Aun

Association(s): Draenei, The Draenic Pilgrimage

Race: Draenei

Class: Mage

Skills and Abilities: Aun'la has been trained in Warp-Engineering, the combination of Draenei magic and Naaru science that keeps the Draenei race moving between the stars. While this confers a basic understanding of mystical principles, she doesn't practice the direct magic that other Mages are known for. Her skills in combat magic and defensive magic are quite limited.

As an educated Draenei, Aun'la also has training as a scribe. She often does her own drafting for designs, and mills her own pigments for paint and ink. A hobby of hers is botanical illustration.

Age: 2156

Sex: Female

Hair: Brown, and tied back in a ponytail to keep it away from her face while she works.

Eyes: Bright silver-blue

Weight: 170 lbs.

Height: 6'9"

Appearance

Usual Garments/Armor: Aun'la prefers to wear shirts and pants, a very utilitarian uniform suited for travel and hard work. Occasionally she wears Draenei ceremonial vestments, but only if it's really important to do so. She often carries with her a small pick and a pruning knife, which she uses to extract salvaged techno-artifacts and pick interesting plants respectively.

Other: Aun'la has the spidery scars of a terrible burn on her left arm, which come from an engine fire during the crash of the Exodar.

Personality

Aun'la is young for a Draenei, which leads her to behave rashly at times. She is an idealist, and strives towards a future in which the Draenei might master the technology they were given by the Naaru in order to rebuild their race. However, despite her strong ideals, Aun'la is not forceful. She has a hard time voicing her ideas to her elders and is not entirely comfortable with herself in social situations.

History

Born just before their transit to Draenor, Aun'la has only brief memories of a planet her parents' generation knew. Her childhood memories consist of time spent in her father's workshop and her mother's laboratory, a sudden flight from an alien world, and then more of the same. She played with plant samples from Draenor and other places, and interrupting the delicate work of her father, a Warp-Technician trying to keep his skills sharp.

Aun'la felt drawn to the intricate workings of her father's profession and, after she understood the fundaments of the magical and mathematical arts, she apprenticed herself to a Warp-Engineer for a few hundred years before the war with the Orcs. When the slaughter began, it was the civilians who felt the brunt of the assault. Unprepared for war, the men and women who could least be expected to fight were wiped out, including Aun'la's father.

During their time of hiding, Aun'la took up painting to help deal with the death of her father and the untamed rage of the Orcs. She grew up, learned how to fend for herself, and then the moment of truth arrived: the Exodar had to be retaken. Aun'la and the surviving Warp-Engineers restarted the Exodar's engines, and the great ship tore the fabric of worlds asunder. In the struggle for the Exodar, however, Aun'la's mother was separated from the group and did not make it into the dimensional ship.

But then disaster struck. The Blood Elves who remained on the station sabotaged the engines and the Naaru ship plunged out of the Twisting Nether and fell through the skies of Azeroth, destroying a pair of islands to the west of Teldrassil. In the crash, Aun'la was gravely wounded and remained in recovery for a number of months as she learned how to use her arm again. When she recovered, she was shocked to learn that some of the Draenei that had taken part in the offensive might have been captured by the Elves. She journeyed to Shattrath as soon as she could, attempting to get in contact with a Vindicator who was a long-time friend of her family.

It took her months to arrange travel, but she made it to Shattrath in time for the offensive against Kael'thas. She told her story to anyone who would listen, describing what her mother looked like, hoping against hope that they might find her. With that, she waited, but to no avail. When the soldiers returned, they said they had seen her, but the retreating Elves stole away with their slaves and Kael'thas was a threat too great to be ignored.

Furious and broken-hearted, Aun'la spent a long time in Shattrath City, planning and gathering a small group of well-meaning adventurers to assault one of the scattered Elven strongholds to find her mother. When she made her move she thought they were ready, but no small group, no matter how righteous their cause, could assail a dimensional ship intact. As they attempted to board the Botanica, the place Aun'la reasoned a biologist would be kept, her allies were scattered by Elven patrols. Aun'la ran as fast as she could, abandoning her allies with as much food and water as she could carry with her.

Her flight took countless days but she returned, malnourished and thirsty, to Shattrath, where she collapsed in the Lower City infirmary. Nursed back to health by the Draenei Nexariel, Aun'la attempts simply to set her life back in order.
