Personality

  • Alignment: Neutral

Astia has a tendency to come out as an overly sarcastic, extremely bitter woman. This is partly because she is an overly sarcastic, extremely bitter woman. However, her cruel attitude is also partially formed around her fear of any sort of serious relationship with other people. She used to be paranoid that anyone she befriended would betray her, although this fear has faded due to recent interactions. Astia is quite unstable, and is oftentimes brought to the brink of insanity due to her past experiences. However, various relationships help her stay relatively normal.

History

Astia was born in Silvermoon to two wealthy magisters, Alar and Elorin Shadesong. Alar and Elorin were delighted to learn that their young daughter had the potential to follow in their footsteps as masters of arcane. However, the two parents had rather… Unusual ways of bringing up their child. Like locking the young girl in her room for days until she memorized what was required. Or abusing her with their magic to make sure she “learned”. As one might imagine, Astia grew up a deeply troubled child. However, despite all of her difficulties, Astia did love her learnings. She threw herself into Arcane readily, attempting to ignore her life through literature. As she grew though, Astia began to follow in her parents footsteps, although she didn't quite know it. While never the most excitable child, she slowly began to change from a hurt little girl into a cold, calculating little girl. She continued to progress in her studies. Somewhere along her path of power, Astia made a mistake. She took a turn onto the darker side of magic, and quickly found herself practicing Fel due to an orcish book, translated to Thalassian. Her parents had always spoken of Fel in tones of utter scorn. A magic that they had thought should just “vanish”. Astia panicked. She realized that if her parents found out what she was doing they would kill her. Literally. And so Astia decided to strike first.

She simply asked her parents to come into the woods to look at something with her, an magic infused gem she had imbedded in the ground earlier that week. When they went forward to gain a closer look, Astia fired fire bolts into the behinds of both their heads, instantly killing them. She then burned the bodies and scattered the ashes before returning to her abode. She feigned heartbreak when her parents didn't come home. One might notice she moved on from her grief rather well, almost immediately turning her attention back to her studies. However, eventually she would have been discovered. Luckily for her, the Scourge invaded Silvermoon. Astia had the fortune to be out of the city at the time on a business trip. She returned home to find ashes and death. The loss of the Sunwell of course affected her, but her people's decision to drain demons affected her even more. No longer did she have to hide her current fel-powered magic.

She stayed with her people for the next few years as they rebuilt, avoiding others for the most part. Eventually, however, she was struck by an urge that was new to her. An urge to travel. Gathering some of the money she had gathered over the long years, Astia headed off. If she had known what was to happen, she would have stayed home. As Astia was exploring a region known as Deadwind Pass, home of the legendary Medivh, Astia had the misfortune to run across a Fel-Sworn and her cult. She was offered a simple choice: Serve or die. Astia chose life and went into the demon's service. While working for her, she had the misfortune to be captured and tortured on multiple occasions.

Eventually, she left the service of the Fel-Sworn. However, misfortune followed her even after she tried to improve her life, even going so far as to purge her body of Fel and retrain herself as a magi, with a larger focus in physical combat. Astia simply strives to live her life now with minimum pain.
