Appearance

Far from the fair-haired maiden, Asha is a toned shield-sister. Her pale blue eyes contrast the vibrant tanned hide of her skin which has hardened through years of combat into firm muscle. Her hair is to match her skin, a tone of fading mahogany that is slowly giving away to old age.

While aged, she is not weak. To this day she still fights side by side with her shield-sister and companion, Aliz Bastian, and so she has a set of armor readily available and well-tended. Composed mostly of steel, the pieces have seen their fair share of war across the years, and more often than naught some pieces have been replaced for newer, stronger counterparts. Beyond her armor, the woman also totes around her weapon of choice, a large steel mallet with an appropriate counterweight.

Other: Beyond her armor, she rarely bares a set of cloth commoner's clothes for the sake of comfort and integration.

Personality

Fiercely dedicated to her cause, Asha holds herself to a code of honor that has been imposed upon her by both her own self as well as her strict religious following. While she has an independent nature when on her own, in the presence of her Dame she would revert to a more submissive mindset. Often enough she would find herself looking to the Dame for approval of her every word or action.

When paying regards to Azeroth's other races, she approaches the Horde - especially orcs - with a caution that borderlines hostility. However her compassion does extend to the few Forsaken and Sin'dorei that follow the paladin or priest's path.

History

Born sixteen years prior to the Dark Portal's reopening, Asha Patricia Harte found herself raised into a family of well-off subsequent farmers. With their family's estate nestled in the fertile lands of Westfall, they joined many other farmers in establishing the land into what would be known as Stormwind's Breadbasket. With rich soil and long growing seasons, the family found themselves immersed in the higher class of life.

While her two parents focused themselves on the more economic draw of their life, often abandoning their children as they went out to the market to sell their crops, Asha found herself under the care of her two elder brothers. The Twins, as they were simply refereed to, held ten years over Asha, but that never did stop the young girl from rough housing like the two of them.

Before the first war would dawn upon the lands of Stormwind, Asha found herself drawn to manual labor, toning herself not for beauty, but for efficiency. When she wasn't working away upon her parent's land, the young woman was schooled partially by her mother and partially by her own curiosity. It would be in the few months that predated the first war that she would read reports and papers upon the rising orcish threat, and it would be upon the war's birth that she enlisted into Stormwind's military force, much to her parent's dismay.

While encompassed in the few short months of training, Asha in all of her farm-brewed strength found herself favoring heavy layers of plated armor. Atop of that she would take up a kiteshield paired with a combat mace. Unfortunate to say, the training was short lived before the mass of troops were sent off to fight the encroaching orcish threat.

The battles were short yet fierce, heavily favoring the humans as they battled upon their homelands. The orcs, while they had brute strength, were obviously lacking any sort of tactical skill as they were easily batted away in most conflicts. Even in a desperate moment they would bring themselves to attempt to assault Stormwind keep, yet even that failed horribly. In the midst of the war, Asha would come to meet another woman-in-arms who only held two years over her who went by the name of Aliz Bastian. While their contact was brief, it managed to provide a mental buffer that kept the farm girl from losing herself in stress. The final blow of the First Great War would be Stormwind's fall. As much as the woman would have loved to worry over her parents or siblings, she instead found herself encompassed by the largest threat yet: The orc's assault upon Stormwind. In a sacking that took all of a day, the people were slaughtered along with their King, Llane Wrynn the first. With their forces split and the orcs rampaging, Asha found herself fleeing with a small regiment of others for the docks. The few defeated survivors would sail their way to Lordearon, Asha taking refuge amongst them.

The ships would escape the now orc-dominated keep of Stormwind, instead sailing north until they reach the grand kingdom of Lordearon. Once there, the young warrior would bring herself to taking up the life of a soldier in the armies of the recently established ‘Alliance of Lordearon'. In the coming years she would train, find herself adapting more and more to the shield and mace combination that she seemed to have favored. By the time the Second world would come rolling around, she found herself more prepared both mentally and physically.

Called to march once more, Asha and the Alliance forces would descend into the southern half of the eastern kningdoms, looking to combat the orcs which held a fair amount of the Kingdom of Stormwind. The regiments would go about, sacking small cities and towns that encompassed the Stormwind Kingdom before charging in for the kill. With the speed and precision of a surgical cut, they would find themselves reclaiming the same city they once lost a few years prior.

Once more in the midst of death and destruction, Asha would manage to pluck out a single face from a mass of steel helms. Where she had met Aliz Bastian in the First War as a young fighter, they would both meet once more with a bit more experience on the battlefield.Once more, the two never really got to know each other very well, but they knew enough to consider each other a value able resource of sanity in the midst of hellish war. By the time the conflict was over, however, Aliz would simply be lost in the mass of steel helms once more.

With the war over and Stormwind reclaimed, Asha took up a small residence within the city as she took up a full time position within the military. In the short breaks of service she would have, the woman took visits to the ruined lands of Westfall. The once fertile lands had begun to come overrun with weed and roots, all surfacing from the abandoned farms that lay in wast after the orc's reign. With her tearing eyes laid upon the ruins of her parent's estate, scanning the bones and weeds that littered the farm, she would dare not to go any further. Instead she turned about, fleeing for her new home and not to return until many years later.

In a rut of depression, Asha would mull about Stormwind with her free time, idly observing life with a distasteful mindset. In these times she would take up her armor and weapons all the more, fuming her anger into fierce and reckless blows of her hammer to some poor recruit or training dummy.Even as word would spread over Lordearon over the orcs revolting, she cared little. Instead of focusing on the task at hand, she would more so look to simply immerse herself in war, in the blind fury so that she may forget the very horrors tat war had brought her and her family. As the orcs shipped off towards Kalimdor, the human forces would give chase. The forces of Kul Tiras looked to directly pursue the orcs as others established a small camp south of where the orcs landed. As the Horde amassed their forces, so did the humans, calling upon forces to form the city that is known today as the port of Theramore.

In the fledgling port did she reside for a short time, working with the many others as they looked nervously to the amassing Horde. Even still as the town grew, Lady Jania Proudmoore along with the port's forces joined along side the orcs as they marched their way to the mystic Mount Hyjal, which would be the sight for a war unlike Asha had ever seen before. Where demons, undead and their vile followers gathered on one side, the champions of the mortal races stood on the other. The first in the path laid Jania's forces, the veteran Asha along with it.

The battle had raged for countless hours, the human settlement being the first to fall underneath the felsteel heel of the Legion's boot. The fighting men scattered, Asha and a few others escaping into one of Jania's portals, though some were not as lucky. As much as the shield maiden fought and flustered to get back into the combat, the medics would not allow her under the circumstances that she suffered from a broken right leg.

In the aftermath of it all, Asha found herself atop the first ship to Stormwind. Those who survived were greeted as heroes, veterans of a war that risked all of humanity, but even then Asha could not overcome the truth of it all; by thirty-eight years old she bore no friends, no family, nor any profession that she could tend to now that the war was over. For months the haggard shield maiden would bounce from tavern to tavern, working herself into a drunken slur more often than naught before being dragged off to a corner to rest in.

It would finally be in the campaign against the Lich King that lifted her veil of depression and instead brought her upon a new chapter in her war-riddled life. After the assault upon Stormwind by the Scourge, Asha hopped upon the draft and re-enlisted as a corporal within the Alliance's forces. Her first stop was one for many like her: Valiance Keep.

Aliz was a different woman this time... or so it seemed. Where the two had only a history of brief spurts of activity together, they seemed to have immediately clung together at the start of the fresh conflict. They spared war stories that had brewed since their last meet, as well as they each came to share their less favorable stories with due time. Where Asha herself writhed in loneliness, so did Aliz, as if not to a worse degree. For months they would go on, shield-sisters to one another as the war would rage all about them.

One would wonder if the loneliness finally got the best of them, or perhaps the war had tore at their perception of mortality, but it would finally come that a more intimate realtionship sparked between the two. A relationship based not on sexuality or shallow perceptions, but one that had been founded upon a friendship since their young adulthood.

It would be on the cold Icecrown nights where Aliz was forced to keep watch that Asha would awake, armor all about her as she would come to sit beside her companion, encompassed within her bulky cloak as the two wasted the nights away in the peace of each other's company. It would be in nights like these that Aliz would begin to tutor her love in the ways of the One God, just as the Northshire clerics had taught her years prior.

The years of war passed, the two battling full through until Arthas fell at the hands of the Argent's Crusade. The content couple would find themselves returning to Stormwind, Aliz herself a Dame of the Alliance and so it would soon come to be that Asha be her faithful squire.

Skills and Abilities

While under the steel wing of Aliz Bastian, Asha had grown in her field of experience. Where she one only bore skill with a shield and mace, she now finds proficiency with most weapons that exist within a paladin knight's arsenal.

Beyond traditional weapons, Aliz had also seeded a belief in the One God into the aged fighter. Where she can call upon the powers granted by her belief, her experience is still limited to a degree, and hence so is her control.
