Appearance

Skull helmet with a gasmask, red engineering glasses, some red shirt and dark pants, all covered up by armor and other kind of gear. He seems to be traveling a lot, his armor weathered, bags, pouches, grenades and ammo in such spots that he could comfortably access them. Red cape covers up, most of his supplies that are layered on his back, packed in a way that they would be kept dry, except for waterskin, it is packed so it would keep fresh water inside and is fairly hard to reach for as his mask tends to get in the way of drinking.

Other: He has wealth, but keeps it for his gear repairs, coin that he uses everyday isn’t as large, but it also isn’t little amount.

Personality

Aras might leave impression that he is a heartless killing machine that is greedy and loves nothing more than seeing others suffer. He tries to reinforce this to everyone around him but he can’t help to sometimes slip and show his true face. Sure he does not think about those he has to kill, sure he doesn’t really find enjoyment in what he does, like some might think, sure he looks like a disciplined soldier but deep down, he wants to look after others, have someone he can trust, help in any way he can and maybe even love. It so happened he closed his heart and mind, locked it and threw the key into the sea.

As for how he acts on field, he tends to go for a kill or knock out, does not mess around, remains quiet and tries to exploit anything he can to win. If he sees he cannot win, he would try to escape, leaving everyone and everything that isn’t worth the risk, so basically everyone, except for few he does really care and his armor.

If he ever finds himself in a position of breaking the law, he would try to get away with it or find an alternative, which would not involve law breaking. That is not always, sometimes he lets his anger cloud his judgment and he might do something that he would feel guilty for, even then, he would not speak to anyone and let it build up until he would start occasionally crying himself to sleep.

He tries his best to not display emotion, hide it always, even at times when showing it is deemed a good thing. He always watches other people, reading their faces and movements, scanning their emotions. At times he could be called emotion vampire, he would join a celebration, but only observe, not displaying his emotion, watching others, feasting on their joy.

History

Aras was born into family of father engineer and mother farstrider. When he was little, he seemed to like both thinking activities and ones that required his physical strength, with this spotted, father started teaching him engineering, while mother decided to prepare her son for farstrider duty. With this non-stop teaching and training, he had little time to make friends, so he learned to look to family for support. Eventually, desire to be a farstrider died down, while engineering just became natural, he was able to work it without much effort.

Once he was of age, he still did join farstriders, just because he was much stronger than average elf and didn’t fall back on speed that much. Unfortunately, with mother and his superiors keeping a tight fit around his free time, engineering became his hobby, one that he would love to do as his main job, with his father, but he had no say in it and remained quiet. While serving farstriders, he met with a lovely lady, which seemed to be in similar situation, just instead of engineering, she wanted to continue living as an enchanter, or at least continue training in enchanting.

The two started spending time together, teaching each other what they knew about their loved crafts, slowly growing close, yet both feared their parents too much to do more than that. In time, they ran out of things to teach, so they started to experiment, covering up that it was to make farstriders a stronger force, unfortunately, after an accident where enchantment and engineering were combined, Aras had his eyes damaged, they healed up, but he wasn’t able to see into the distance. Quickly farstriders discarded him as worthy, made fun of him, bullied him that he was so stupid to damage himself.

With his comrades, if one could call them that, rubbing against his back as rough as sandpaper might, he made his goal to make himself superior than a farstrider. His unlucky soul was quickly thrown out of farstriders and he was able to focus on getting himself something that would return his lost sight, maybe even make it better. With most of his time in workshops, he went deeper into loner cave. He cut all contacts, except with his enchanter friend and family. His mother and he started to talk less.

He built himself basic set of armor and skull mask. This set of armor and mask later grew to be what he wears today. With his identity hidden he started working as a mercenary, doing all sorts of jobs, earning both honest and not so honest coin. He managed to stay out of trouble, built himself a bank and was able to improve his armor and gear further. He kept most of his income and way how he gets it hidden from everyone. Engineering work was only a cover up for his real face, he wasn’t working as engineer and he was making improvements for his gear, from time to time taking a real engineer job.

After many years of alone time and funds coming from unknown source, Aras received news about sister being born, he would visit her from time to time, but stopped once she was old enough to visit his workshop, it would be great joy for him to see his little sister walking around, asking him questions, sure she stopped him from working, but it would be a nice distraction. Sure many questions and taking things and putting them somewhere else would be annoying, but in the end, two worked out a system where nothing would get lost and she would receive all information she wanted.

He saw what was happening, that his little sister would fall into same tracks as he did. But instead of trying to prevent it, he also saw a possibility there, so he made all effort to make her time easier, he made sure his enchanter friend would keep an eye on his sister, while he would always be there for her. Unfortunately, war came and his service as mercenary became more needed. He wasn't around when his sister made a fatal mistake. He was called in to protect someone’s property outside elven lands, forcing him away from his family and only friend, making his distrust for people only to increase.

With The First War at an end and The Second War lurking around the corner he found himself in Silvermoon, but on work, so even if he would see familiar faces, he had to hide under his skull mask. This hiding served him as a valuable lesson, as well as time spent serving as a merc improved his skills.

With second war ravaging the lands, Aras became known as BloodMist, serving armies as a recon, someone that gets paid to do stuff normal troops might refuse. He killed many, captured many more but always knew some day, he could return to being called Aras and not BloodMist. Yet, for as long as the war raged, he hid his face and true name.

After second war, he wasn’t able to return home; up until it was too late, he arrived just after the cleaning up after scourge began. He looked for his sister, but could not find her anywhere. With fel quickly replacing his blue eyes for green ones, he decided to not show his true face for his parents, meeting and even working with them few times. It wasn’t safe for him to reveal himself, just yet. He moved around, worked where he could, built himself a sizable bank as a mercenary who knew engineering and enchanting.

Aras tried returning to his normal life, but parents rejected him, his sister was missing so he left Silvermoon and continued his work in forest, getting visited by his enchanter friend from time to time. Both of them were just friends, spark that was before faded long time ago. One evening he learned that his sister was called a traitor. He went to his parents and had an argument; it was fruitless. He packed everything he could and set out to search for his sister, taking jobs as he went, keeping his identity hidden and putting skull helmet of BloodMist, yet again. Before he left, he made sure that money for expensive repairs would be everywhere he goes, everywhere where his race is accepted to keep money safely.

With years and years, he forgot about the reason he left his home, building wall from outside world, getting into the mindset of what others believes BloodMist is.

Skills and Abilities

Enchanter: Aras did some work, back in the day as enchanter, till this day he knows this trade and keeps advancing in his skill. He focuses on combat oriented enchantments.

Engineer: Aras learned this trade from his father, crafted his own rifle, all of his equipment. Keeps resupplying himself with grenades, repairs his rifle, is talented engineer, if given enough time, he could figure out anything.

Sniper, Recon, Rifleman: Long days working with his rifle made him an excellent shot but even greatest make mistakes.

Fit Body: Unlike usual to his kind, he is naturally larger, stronger, maybe less quick. Sure he might need to eat a bit more, yet he could walk twice as long as any other average elf could.

Equipment:

Skull Mask: He built himself a rather scary looking helmet, which he outfitted with a gasmask and spot for his engineered filtering glasses. Gas mask is designed to refine air and give him protection from his own choke cloud. Other harmful gasses are also blocked, but unlike in his own choke cloud, he is only protected for short time, till filter breaks, while for his own choke cloud he can stay in it for half a day, before its filter brakes.

Filtering Glasses: This set of eye piece is designed to give him better visibility in night, sunny day, red choke clouds and while watching far away objects. It has built in zoom lens, darker lens for sunny days, enchanted lens to make dark night not so dark and special lens to filter out his red cloud of choking gas, to allow him see inside the mist better. He also has glasses so he could see better, problem with eyes.

Blood Mist: Cloud of gas, which is produced by mixing few chemicals in his larger glove parts, shoulder pads, helmet horns, boots and belt. It also can be produced from grenades as amount of chemicals required is not large, but effect can be deadly. Created gas is red, thick and hard to see through and makes breathing harder. If one were to stay in it for long, damage to lungs and eyes is possible, if one were to sleep in it, death is certain. Usually started from his belt, as there are from two to as much as six smoke grenades that produce enough cover for him and maybe a tauren or two. Rest of his armor, produces just enough to keep him concealed as well as keep the mist slowly spreading, making it harder and harder to see into and breathe for those stupid enough to stay inside it.

Arcane armor: Enchanted armor, fueled by mana crystals that can overtime recharge or be recharged by someone who knows his stuff with arcane or if other mana crystal is placed near it. It can make wearer impossible to touch by any force for very short time. Depends on how hard the hit is: time varies from two seconds to ten seconds. It can be activated via gentle arcane patterns, which only Aras knows. Unfortunately, once activated anything that would hit harder than a gentle push, would activate the armor, coating Aras in purple arcane power, that stops him getting damaged, but he can be thrown around very easily. (Example: Aras activates his armor, powerful bomb explodes near him, sending him flying into a wall and he breaks his back after hitting a wall. No damage from explosion.) Armor could be triggered with weaker attack causing it to go to waste and unless recharged stay out of use for at least two hours. If strike is too powerful, enchantment could be worn off completely and then no amount of recharging would help, it would have to be reapplied with help of some not so cheap materials.

Arcane barrel: After long work, many curses and desire to slam his head against a strong stone wall, he managed to enchant his rifle from inside, to coat any bullet that goes past it in arcane. This arcane explodes after bullet struck someone, sometimes it is in form of small arcane explosion, other times in form of bullet being spread outwards, causing bullet to shatter. This enchantment, just like arcane armor is triggered by similar, yet different arcane pattern and can only be used on two bullets per barrel or one scatter shot per barrel.
