Alek, while being humble and respectful, usually keeps to himself. He does not seek out companionship. He and his few friends are the only people that matter to him. He is not stubborn as most of his family is. His personality could be described as that of a Dwarven elder with the young spirit of a human. The few close friends he has are Dwarves, but he has cherished the relationships he had with his human friends. On his own now, though, he is one of the most successful loners you'll ever meet.

History

Alek was born an only child to his parents, Barkas and Yurani Azdar. His father, Barkas, was a fierce warrior who fought for the Bronzebeard clan in the War of the Three Hammers. His actions at Grim Batol put him in high standing with his people. After the war, Barkas became an ambassador of Ironforge to the Alliance. He was then put to the task of upkeeping relations with Stormwind. Because of this, Alek spent many of his developing years in the city Stormwind. He developed young friends who, while not the same age, were at the same maturity as Alek. It was hard for him though, seeing his human friends set out on their own lives while he was still considered a boy. Times when he went back to his home city he was often shunned for his seemingly love for humans. He did make one friend as a child, though. Belgrim Valgirn was his name. They were there for each other both on their paths to becoming warriors. He called him "Bel". Other than that, he didn't make very many friends. And there wasn't much room for love in his life.

Alek wasn't always supposed to be a warrior. When he was younger, the Dwarven nobles thought it would be a good notion to let the humans train him as a Paladin, to tighten the alliance between the two nations. Barkas refused. He would not let them make his boy a paladin -he would be the great warrior like he had always dreamed of. So Alek trained. And as hoped for, he made his father proud. He excelled at all of his warrior duties, and was ahead of everyone else at his level. This seperated him even further from the rest of his peers, who now believed Alek was a pompous, conceited person.

When his training was done, he learned to be an Ironforge Guard and spent around a decade as one. He enlisted in the Ironforge Army with Bel when he was 59. Lucky enough, they were put in the same regiment and fought valiantly together in their campaigns. Of course, Alek's combat talent put him above the rest and was promoted to be squad leader. He didn't want to accept, but Bel encouraged him telling him he was an idiot if he didn't take the position.

Alek served three months as a squad leader before he left it all. It turns out that a month before, Belgrim's regiment was sent to push for land south of Loch Modan and were ambushed by a group of Blackrock Orcs. Three Dwarves survived. Alek was furious at everything around him. He was angry at himself for not being there to save Bel, and he had complete rage at the simple thought of Orcs. But eventually his anger turned to hate. He hated his system of leadership, the military, and everyone else who just didn't seem to care; Why did Belgrim's regiment need to be there? Why did he need to die? Alek realized that he never wanted any of this fighting. He no longer wanted to fight for Ironforge, and he certainly did not want to fight for his father. So he left.

Alek had no real ties to anything other than the army, so leaving didn't really affect him much. He did know that his mother would miss him, so he ended up writing her letters along his travels to let her know he was okay. The letters didn't have a return address. He found a group human merchants on a ship from Ratchet and joined with them. Along his travels he's learned to blacksmith to care for his armor, and surprisingly he learned to tailor. He mainly picked up tailoring because everyone on the ship knew it due to their merchant status. He enjoys making very nice silk things whenever he gets his hands on the right materials.
