History

Fourty-two years ago, a young Tauren woman layed in a bed of leaves, heaving in pain. She was alone, save for any wild creatures watching nearby. Some were avoiding the Tauren. Some were simply waiting.

As she panted and pushed, she felt the burden drift downwards. After many excruciating hours, it left her body. Partially relieved, she pushed herself upwards to inspect the new arrival. It was dark and hard to see, so she lifted it up to see it closer.

Twelve pounds. Male. And what's this?

As she held the calf closer, her eyes widened. Covering his body was snowy white fur. She immediately knew his destiny. He made some calm moo-coos and gazed back at her. "Agatahnai," she whispered to him. "May you walk the path of the spirits, lead by the Earthmother." She gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead and layed down, cradling him. She felt so very tired...soon, she was asleep, and would never wake again.

Meanwhile, a cougar nearby watched the scene with interest. The large meat was weak, and he knew this. Now she was dead, and there would be no fun. But there was a smaller meat. It wiggled in a most enticing way. Time to play.

A quick dash and it would be all over. The cougar readied itself and launched from the bushes. Very soon! What? A new smell?

A crack of lightning erupted from the shadows, striking the cougar square in the chest! Momentarily stunned, the cougar chose to depart. There was plenty of meat that didn't hurt so badly.

The young calf was lifted up into strong arms and bundled in a rough blanket. As he was carried away, he gazed upon his mother for the last time.

Agatahnai trained under his mentor for thirty years, learning the art of calling the spirits and strolling among them in the spiritual world. Calling himself Tsulitsvyasdi, the mentor was also Agatahnai's adopted father. Together they would travel to various places, learning much about the delicate balance of nature. Agatahnai loved the spirit world as well as the physical. They tied together in perfect harmony.

Although he did not look it, Tsulitsvyasdi became very old very quickly and passed peacefully. Agatahnai understood that he would see Tsulitsvyasdi again, and that his body must return to the Earth Mother as all things do.

No longer having a mentor, Agatahnai set out on his own. For twelve years, he lived as a nomad. He would work the odd job to earn money and use his shamanic prowess to rid wicked spirits from thankful Tauren and the occassional orc. He became familiar with the lands of Mulgore and the Barrens and worked tirelessly to ensure nature was kept in balance.

Now fourty-two years of age, Agatahnai seeks to complete his training and become a master of walking among the spirits.
