Appearance

Adel dresses for elegance first, and practicality second. Her attire is vibrant and bold, and though styles and designs vary, her standard palette usually consists of red, gold, black and white. She prefers to wear gloves, even when casually dressed.

She is in fair physical condition. Contrary to the influence of being raised in a magic-centric society, she’s far more at ease walking from place to place instead of hitching a portal.

Personality

Adel can be brash, spiteful, inconsiderate, selfish, and childish, at times. With a short temper and patience of equal length, she is angered easily. She's out for herself and herself only, and isn't opposed to using people for the purposes of furthering her own goals. Although Adel is fickle as far as friendship is concerned, she does feel sincere kinship towards her oldest and dearest companions. The siege of Quel'thalas robbed her of many friends and family; she would like to lose no more, least of all by her own hand.

She's a skilled debater, and enjoys verbal conflict. Though a bitter loser, she learns quickly from error and is swift to try and turn the tide of an argument. Adel enjoys the political aspects of her society, and involves herself actively in them. She is slow to come around to new ways of thinking, as adapting isn't something her people have ever had to do. Still, she realises the necessity of bending to avoid breaking.

Adel is dismissive of the Horde, failing to see the need to ally with them. If she can help it, she won't be within sight or smell of an Orc, a Troll or a Tauren. While she is able to maintain civility in their company, she would prefer not to be near them at all. She's not an Alliance sympathiser either, but she has mixed feelings regarding Humans. Disappointment is the prevailing emotion: She expected better.

History

The Lanithan house was fortunate enough to be stationed in the city proper, albeit in a district which would later be decimated by the Scourge. Adel's childhood was nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps her tendencies when dealing with others leant to the vengeful side, but that streak never manifested itself in a tangible incident. Lessons in the arts of Arcane seemed ideal for giving her an outlet for mildly destructive inclinations, and to fill the long years of youth productively.

Evocation quickly became her focus, and she found herself well-suited to its principles. It was quick, adaptable, and nearly natural. In practice, when a snap decision was called for, it was fire that leapt to her mind and from her fingertips. She could control an unfettered force of reckoning, and the feeling empowered her.

Her passion was well and truly lit.

To further her studies and branch out into more varied techniques, Adel travelled to the city of Dalaran. It soon became her home. It was only a matter of time before hushed whispers of diabolic beings wielding fearsome power reached her ears, creatures loosed by careless casters, but even a seductive rumour is only a rumour. Supposing it were true, she reasoned, she would never stoop to using the likes of such monstrous magic in her search for new ways to utilise her skills. Arcane didn't control her; she controlled it.

Soon enough, Adel was tutoring students of the Arcane herself. While not the most patient of teachers, she certainly knew her craft well, and the years of peace left her with little other use for abilities designed with swift destruction in mind. The years of peace didn't last, but she led a simple existence while they did.

News of the early wars reached Adel, who had begun to settle into the life she was carving for herself. She believed her people were exempt from such conflicts. As far as she was concerned, the Quel'dorei were beyond the reach of the scuffles between the younger races. When the 'Great Second War' had come to its conclusion, Adel elected to return to Silvermoon. North, south, and east of the grand magocracy, bloody battles had been waged. How long would it be before Dalaran was challenged?

Not long, but mercifully, she was not there to crumble with its majestic spires.

Arthas' warpath through Quel'thalas shattered Adel's life - along with innumerable others' - almost overnight. Her parents were not fortunate enough to survive, their estate toppling along with a fair portion of Silvermoon itself. She had been teaching in a spire east of the city when the Scourge carved a black road through her birthplace. As though grief did not wear heavily enough on her from the loss of friends and family, she also had a starved addiction to contend with, following the Sunwell's destruction.

As she and many others sought to pick up the pieces of their lives, she learned relations between their people and the Alliance were harshly severed, elsewhere. There was some joy to be found in the news that Dalaran had been rebuilt. She had begun to miss it, but she had a sneaking suspicion that she would be unwelcome there, now. Other aches took priority for the moment, though; namely the thirst for Arcane her people were beginning to suffer.

When other sources of sustenance were unearthed, she drank from them readily. Having tasted Fel's power, she began to seek out further sources of it. She bound demons to her will, drawing from their strength to supplement her own. Her former compunctions ebbed away when she felt the exhilarating and uninhibited strength of the magic she now wielded.

Adel lent herself to Archmage Aethas Sunreaver’s efforts to have the Horde accepted into the city of Dalaran. Due to the Kirin Tor’s known aversion to the darker arts, she stated her profession as tutor in the Arcane to lend credence to her pleas for admission, and refrained from the use of Fel when it would be detrimental to their endeavour. The Sunreavers, as they came to be known, were eventually accepted into the city, and Adel once again took up residence there.

Though no longer a mage herself, Adel had a number of companions who were, and had grown close to those she worked alongside. She continued and still continues to push for the Blood Elves’ acceptance into the Kirin Tor for their sakes, whilst developing her personal skills privately, putting them to use against the remnants of the Scourge scattered around the fringes of her homeland.
