Personality

Addle is a rather simple and common gnome; He has a high mind for tinkering, and tends to invent and create most all of the things he uses on a daily basis... Down to his own toothbrush. He is a kind and straight-forward man in normal conversations, and can blab on all day about engineering, with a few giggles at gnomish jokes that no other race would understand. On the job, he takes his job seriously, and for him there is no rest until a job is done. In combat, Addle is a fierce fighter. Although he, being a gnome, can be easily punted away, he takes advantage of his enemies size by swiftly running around the field, popping smokes and tossing gas grenades to make it almost a maze to actually get to him. At range, you will find his little assault rifle actually packs a punch; And his gnomish call-signs in melee keep his enemies distracted enough for him to engage and take them down.

History

Addle Stead was born in Gnomeregan, and by the age of 16, as all Gnomes, he had a basic understanding of Engineering. Addle noticed he held a liking to the subject of machinery and mechanics, and so became an aspiring student of the Gnomeregan Academy of Machinery and Engineering. In his first five years at the Academy, Addle was successful in tinkering and accomplished the creation of his first invention; The Stead Cannon.

Originally designed as an Academy prank for Addle's last year at the Academy, the Stead Cannon was to fire a large amount of chicken eggs, similar to a flak launcher, at his masters windows and home. While he and his friends were laughing it off, the administrator nearly kicked Addle out of the academy. But he mildly forgave him because of his true aspiration for the Engineering world, and so Addle had a very rough ending to his days in the Academy.

After the Academy, Addle set out to tinker some more, and had his home all fit out to do various things when suddenly he heard a noise that wasn't heard too often in Gnomeregan; The Invasion Siren. Addle collected his blueprints and kissed his home goodbye as he narrowly escaped in the last trip out of Gnomeregan before the city was quarantined and doused in irradiation bombs.

After setting up shop in Ironforge, Addle began tinkering some more, improving the Stead Cannon to the point it could fire a large amount of projectiles at once. This was useful to the Ironforge military in a few minor battles, but was proven too deadly to both lines, as the first test made was to launch twenty fully-armed grenades into a battle during the Second War... After the deaths of many orcs... And ironically, even more Dwarves... The Stead Cannon was banned from military use, and so Addle began seeking other things to tinker with and invent.

He then remembered the mecha-suits of Gnomeregan. The Mechanical Defenders of Gnomeregan. He shuffled through his blueprints and furrowed his bushy brows as he began the first designs for a Steam-Bot(Basically a Steamwarrior Suit). This design failed in his first test, as the materials were too weak, and he scrapped the idea. He designed for himself an assault rifle which fires a quick burst of three rounds, where you then pull the bolt back and then fire another burst, pull the bolt back, and so on, until the clip was empty.

Addle took this assault rifle, as well as a pair of mechanical goggles he had invented in years past, and joined a small squad of Gnomish Soldiers as they were tasked with the defense of Khaz Modan. Through a series of pilotry training courses and several real-time experiences in the battlefield, Addle quickly became a well-learned Combat Engineer. Throughout the years, his squadron, namely the 'Pride of Gnomeregan', was diminished to only he and another. In a final recon mission, Addle and his squad-mate were shot down in the snowy regions near Coldridge Valley, where Addle barely survived in the blizzard. Luckily for him, scouts in Anvilmar had heard the crash in the mountains and sent a group of rescuers to investigate. Addle was alive, and VERY cold... But his squad-mate did not share the same luck, dying in the crash.

Addle went home and began working on a new blueprint for a Steam-Suit when he heard tell of an Airship that was passing through nearby airspace, and was for sale to the highest bidder at Booty Bay. This airship, with guns and hull to rival the Skybreaker, would allow Addle to properly find his materials for the Steam-Suit. Sadly for this little gnome, he did not exactly have the money to BUY this marvelous airship. In a quite note, he found that two other gnomes were aspiring to... 'Acquire' this craft, and so the three met in Stranglethorn and formulated a plan to capture the airship. In a swift out-take, and a quick diversion, the three gnomes successfully took the Airship and fled northward. Their group was respectfully named the 'Mechanized Sky Pirates', and the ship was named 'The Punt' as a sign of revenge to all other races for all those years of punting the poor gnomes.

Addle now works tirelessly to ensure The Punt stays in the air and everything stays functional, and to this day, he still conspires to build his prototype of the Steam-Suit he designed.
