Appearance

Zariel is usually seen in fine garments, robes and cloaks with large hoods. He often wears tuxedos and ties during business meetings, under his cloaks typically are loose fitting clothing for mobility and a blade-less hilt on his sash.

Personality

Zariel is light hearted and loving, he means well but sometimes different emotions sway him a bit, Pride, anger, success and his family. He is a bit of a goofball and can laugh at himself amongst friends. As Nova he can be very professional if not a bit zealous, he has grown to care for his family more than himself and leads the House the best he can.

History

Zariel was the third born child of Cerice and Jidaeo Novalight, coming after Thalion and Alteryia and before his younger sister Xanthe. Zariel was in-house tutored, and fed the same brainwashing propaganda of how to act as a Novalight. They were also taught the history of their family's progenitor the original Jidaeo Novalight whom his father was named after. This was a known taboo established by a council of previous leaders that oversaw the family's figure head leader, dubbed 'The Nova'.

Zariel grew up fairly pampered and closed off to the world as a Quel'dorei, his father was the Nova and the family was doing well. As Zariel grew older he began training under the tutelage of an associate of his father's A Cryomancer and Noble, Reigen Sunfire. The two formed a bond and friendship that would remain for centuries, as Zariel began to progress in his arcane studies, he acquired more teachers grooming him to lead the Family as Nova. By this time his Older Brother Thalion had left the estate on his own, and his sister Alteryia wasn't who the council wanted at first, they felt Zariel would be easier to mold and he was. At the beginning of the following year his father Jidaeo resigned to a seat on the council and Zariel became Nova XIV prior to entering a public and bloody feud with House Seregon which would end on a shaky alliance cemented by Lord Elrohir Seregon and Jidaeo Novalght.

He turned his family away from more of their darker roots, but caught poor attention from those in the family who disagreed with his carefree actions and young spirit, he also had issues with the law due to past relationships and being framed by the Seregon. Eventually overcoming all of this, he and his siblings came together to form a conglomerate of authority, they were known as the Four Suns and all lead as Nova. The controlling council didn't like it as one member's immediate family was harboring a conspiracy cradled since their progenitor's time over the generations. This culminated into the Novalight Civil War lead by Zariel and his siblings and those who wished to reform the house against those who were loyal with the conspirators who wished to keep the family submerged in criminal activity and manipulation.

After many confrontations physically and politically, the four siblings were victorious and the family was cleansed of its tainted roots. However this strain forced the siblings to drift apart walking their own paths more individually. Zariel met the love of his life in Sabryn and they married shortly after. Over the years they had three children: a pair of twins, Jidaeo and Amalys, and a younger daughter who was later named Reigen in honor of his former master and friend. He kept them sheltered and tutored them with an open mind during the first and second wars, he spent time teaching arcane to Amalys while his Son Jidaeo trained with the hunters of the family.

Everything changed during the third war when Silvermoon was attacked, As Nova he and his family were required to leave to safer grounds causing them an uneasy feeling to leave their home. Zariel soon entered depression over his sister Alteryia's alleged death during the attack on the city. With the tainted Sunwell he encouraged his family to the alternative solution, and soon they all subdued to the addiction. The family's main focus was maintaining and supporting their city after the mass losses and changes their people had experienced. After war with the Legion, Zariel began losing more people: his aunt, his father, his mother, his mentor on top of still mourning his sister put him at a low point. Prior to the Lich King's death they returned as morbid husks of themselves, death knights and after the death of the Lich King himself the family began to focus their efforts elsewhere. They had acquired enough gold and wished to share their wealth to help restore the shattered world caused by Deathwing's arrival and scars of past wars.

Skills and Abilities

Arcane Lightning

Zariel manipulates arcane to resemble bolts of lightning propelling the raw force quickly and sporadically to his opponents.

Alternate casting

In addition to casting spells vocally, Zariel can perform hand incantations by different movements while channeling arcane. This pertains to simple spells, ( arcane projectiles, and basic wards, blink etc )

Cryomancer's Aura

After several moments of concentration Zariel can shroud himself with severe arcane frost energy. In this state he is resistant to frost damage, and temperature while having access to slightly enhanced versions of his typical frost spells. On top of the concentration and time to perform, it constantly requires a lot of arcane and is vulnerable to natural fire in this state.

Barlton Bomb

Zariel compresses arcane into a small sphere directing it at an opponent before expanding it sending an arcane explosion. This takes a bit of concentration and is difficult to compress the arcane under stress. This spell is unsafe for the caster due to the strain.
