Personality

Alignment: Lawful Good

Xaiden is a man of objectives and getting things done efficiently with as little influence from 'bad' sources as possible. He tends to be sarcastic a lot, and rather brutally honest when he's not. However, this is usually only when he is in a grouchy mood, which tends to happen a lot, mostly because he seems to say that he is constantly surrounded by 'idiots'. He can be very respectable, and is an honorable and intellectual soldier and leader in military matters despite his fear of actually going into the heat of battle. Over all, he tends to keep to himself on most matters, as he prefers being alone save for few others whose company he enjoys, such as his brother.

History

Xaiden was born the eldest of three in a family of jewelcrafter-nobles of Silvermoon. He had a younger brother, Ruibarra, and a younger sister, Xelena. From a young age, he found he always enjoyed the company of his brother and sister, and they would often play in the woods, and the three were never very far away from each other. His father was an avid hunter despite his proper noble status, and his mother was an experienced mage. Xaiden was the first of the children to be taught the family trade of jewelcrafting, and when his brother and sister were old enough, he would often take breaks from the lessons to play in the woods with his siblings.

One of these days was rather eventful; Xaiden led his siblings into the woods, and foolishly sprinted into nowhere, leaving his siblings behind. While his brother came through the trees, they both noticed that Xelena had vanished. Not knowing where she was, they ran through the woods calling for her until the brothers heard a loud scream. Both brothers ran to the scream and found Xelena cornered by a lynx. Here Xaiden discovered his fear for entering potentially fatal situations, and froze in fear, only able to watch as Ruibarra leaped at the lynx and fought it off, suffering a clawing across the eye. The lynx was slain by an arrow but seconds later, their father emerging from the woods. Xaiden shamed himself for freezing in fear, but was joyful to know that his brother was at least safe from the encounter.

By the time Xaiden was considered a full adult in Quel'dorei society, he had gained himself a reputation as an out-going jewelcrafter and intelligent man over all. He found he lacked the wits to claim a woman permanently, but he did often find himself in failed relationships, either because his focuses were not 'direct', or because they would often leave him for more 'handsome and dashing' specimens of the elven race. The cycle repeated itself for many years, and he often found himself alone in his small hideaway idly fiddling with jewels.

Xaiden's presumably simple life was shattered when the Scourge invaded Quel'thalas. He fled the destruction of the village in which his family's manor resided (even fleeing from the line of defense), mourning for days after the death of his parents; a thing he knew had certainly happened. He was lucky, however, as he was able to rescue his sister from the village along with a few now refugee elves. The refugees gathered together in a small hideout guarded by what remained of the Ranger Corps in the region. The Corps was short on soldiers, however, and so Xaiden found himself enwrapped in a 'draft' for the defense of the hideout. His career as a drafted swordsman was short and uneventful, as they were lucky; the Scourge was not there for slaughter, but for an ultimate objective.

The small hideout was struck with a pandemic after the Sunwell's corruption; they lacked their source of magical energy, and so they were weakened by their need for magic. For the months to pass, they received word from the rest of Quel'thalas; Silvermoon had been destroyed, the Sunwell corrupted, and the elven king Anasterian had been slain. The hideout was emptied of its refugees, including Xelena, and left the remnants of the Ranger Corps to be resistance fighters in the reclamation of Silvermoon territories. It was at this time that Xaiden's general intelligence and wits came out when he began to display an apt skill in leading and tactics, and so he was able to keep out his fear of death by keeping to the tents and less heated battles. In a mission to liberate the ruins of a village, Xaiden found among the ashes his blade to stay with him for many years; Dawnstrike.

The weakness of magic withdrawals was subdued when the news arrived; they had found their cure. The Fel, while not enjoyed, was a means to an end as far as Xaiden was concerned. Their withdrawals ceased, and with a renewed cause they began to fight further into the lands. When it was spread among what remained of Silvermoon's forces that they were gathering together their elite to form the order of the Blood Knights. As an experienced strategist and leader, he was selected from his pocket of resistance as a candidate for the cause. While Xaiden did not favor the often self-centered and 'idiotic' ways of the Blood Knights, he was trained to be the Sin'dorei's mock of a Paladin.

Once his training was finished, he was sent on a mission to assault a Scourge-infested settlement. In the assault, his fears made him freeze up and the forces that he led were just barely able to pull the battle together into a victory, but they suffered many losses. Xaiden once again felt ashamed, and felt that he had failed those that died in the assault. He resigned from his position, and fled to the solitude of Eversong. Other than the occasional encounter with animals and wronged tenders, and the rare visit to a small village nearby for news of the world and his family, he was alone in the forest. Having heard no word of his brother or sister, he presumed them both dead and so he truly had no reason to leave his self-exile.

This all changed when Xaiden's final visit to the village brought great news; his brother was alive, and had formed the Blades of the Silverfang, a mercenary organization. Xaiden felt this was his purpose again, and took up Dawnstrike again, acquiring himself a new set of armor and racing to the location of the organization's home. He arrived barely moments after his brother was slain in a tragic event for the Blades, and rather than claim his right as heir of the family, and therefore the Blades, he decided against angering his newly discovered cousin Leron, and took on the role of head of military matters, dubbing the title of 'General' among the Blades' rank-and-file men and women.

Xaiden quickly gained the loyalty of a captain, Dara Goldmoon, and she, being an emotionless death knight, was almost like his lap dog; following him around often and going to her for advice or suggestions on military affairs. Ruibarra was later revived by a friend of the Blades, and Xaiden learned from him that Xelena was in fact dead. He mourned for a while before straightening back up for his role in the renewed noble house of Silverfang. He indirectly gave the political power of the house to Leron, and so he kept himself away from the noble life, a life which he saw as 'snobby and idiotic'.

Xaiden still lives as the head of the military affairs of the Blades of the Silverfang. His shame of fleeing in the face of defeat when the family's manor was assaulted and his general hate for noble politics were the two things keeping him from claiming his birthright as head of House Silverfang. He decided to keep himself to the mercenaries, and completely disowned his noble blood, considering himself (aided by the opinions of others) not suitable for the role.
